Alright! First order of business is discussing Ron's position in the DA. We all know he is Harry's best friend, do you think that he really liked being taught by Harry?

I don't think he really would have thought about it. I mean, he's Harry's best friend and would have just done it, no questions asked. He and Hermione actually came up with the idea in the first place, so I'm sure he loved being Harry's student. Especially because he got to pair with Hermione...*winks*

I think that because Ron was Harry's best friend, he wouldn't be mad that Harry's in charge of the whole DA. But Ron might have been jealous, because this would have been another item on Harry's....um....resume.

I know Ron says he is Harry's best friend and all..but I also think he is not so for it ( if you know what I mean) ...They argued once (GoF) for some foolish reason and they got back together, but I think Ron isn't so for the best friendship between them. But I do think he will stand by Harry till the end.

I agree with Shan, the creation of the DA was his and Hermione's idea in the first place, because the recognized that Harry had been through way more than they had, and could teach them some valuable skills.

I don't think that he really saw it as 'Harry is MY teacher, he is better than I' but more so that Harry is sharing some knowledge with him, helping him to be better as well.

As far as their fight in GoF, they are teenagers, that is what teenagers do. I almost don't think that their relationship is an accurate representation of relationships in High school, they get along way to well Just because one fights with their best friend does not mean that they are not true friends. I firmly believe that if a friendship can make it through fights, then you are true friends. They also are in close contact with each other for most of the year, it is not like they can just go home when they are sick of each other.

I feel however that Ron despite Ron's almost clumsy demeanor, he will be play a vital role in the DA and the Final battle.

Of course he likes being taught by Harry. It was his & Hermione's idea. But i dont think he really thought of Harry really being a teacher...just a friend who wants to help out

I completely agree with Julie, regarding the extension from what I said and the whole GoF fight. I honestly believe that you're not really "best" friends with someone completely until you go through something huge together that makes you realise how much you mean to each other, and that makes understand the other person on a deeper level. In my opinion, this is what happened with Harry and Ron in GoF. They got through something that could either make or break or their friendship, giving them a deeper understanding of each other and making their bond as best friends even stronger.
Because of this, Ron wouldn't think twice about Harry "leading" him. Sure, he gets jealous of Harry's fame sometimes, but I mean, who wouldn't? Those who aren't famous want to be, while those who are wish they weren't.

I think that Ron would have defiantly liked it, because it's his 5th year, I would have hoped he would have been mature enough to just forget who is over him and go with it! Defeat Voldermort!

After all It was his and hermione's Idea.
But yes, even if he and hermione hadn't thought of it
I think he would still go along with it.

I think that Ron can be immature sometimes, but that's why we love him, coz it's cute but even if it wasn't his idea or if he was jealous of Harry, he'd still go along with the DA, coz he hates Umbridge. Also he's learnt that just being jealous doesn't work from bk 4 when he wasn't talking to Harry.

I don't think he would have thought twice about it under the circumstances! When Hermione brought up the subject of asking Harry to teach, Ron agreed immediately with her. Ron is maturing! He is not about to allow any petty jealousy get in the way of something this important! What might bother him a bit, or at least teach him an important lesson is when Hermione blasts him during practice after he patronized her by saying he'd go easy on her!!!! Other than that, Ron is focusing on learning how to defend himself and those who are dear to him! He knows the necessity and the urgency, and he is going to do all he can to learn as much as he can!

Ron is best friends with Harry. By the 5th book they had been through so much together it was impossible for them to be anything but best mates until the end. Ron has accepted the fact that he will always be known as "the sidekick" but since he has matured he doesn't really care about it, because when it comes down to it it isn't about who is in the spotlight more; it's about the fact that they're a team.

^^^ I def agree with that, they've been through to much for petty arguments. I think in bk 7 Ron will become less of a sidekick and really help Harry.

I think that by the time the DA formed, Ron had seen what talent Harry had and would gladly learn from him. It's possible he would be a bit jealous, but not in a hateful way. Ron probably listened to Harry a bit more than he would have listened to another because they were such good friends.
