Storyline:

Vulgar, dignified and childish all at once, she certainly is not the kind of person Ben expected when searching through the job listings in the stuffy parish magazine, "Hello Jesus". Evie enters Ben's life with a cataclysmic force, whisking him away on a series of adventures from camping, to performing Shakespeare in the garden, to attending the Edinburgh festival - where he finally meets a girl much nearer his own age.

Evie's unconventional and often downright bizarre behaviour challenges Ben's beliefs, and forces him to confront the very idea of who he wants to be. Then, when it seems that his new-found freedom is about to be taken away, Ben has to suddenly choose; should he continue to conform, or break out and live his life as his own man? Although he was offered the part last year and turned it down due to scheduling conflicts, Daniel Radcliffe has now accepted the role of Alan Strang in Peter Shaffer's renowned play Equus, which will reopen in London's West End next spring.

Richard Griffiths, who plays Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter movies and is currently starring in The History Boys on Broadway, will star alongside Dan in Equus as the psychiatrist, Martin Dysart.

Dan sent a message to both DanRadcliffe.com and DanRadcliffe.co.uk about his acceptance of the role, saying, "I'm really excited to be part of this production and thrilled to be working with Richard Griffiths again. This is obviously a huge departure for me as an actor, but Equus is such an amazing play that this really was an opportunity not to be missed.

Rehearsal starts in January and I am very much looking forward to working with Thea Sharock who is an incredibly talented director. I only hope I do the role justice."

Dan also told The Daily Mail that "I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and one not to be missed." He will appear in the play from February 27 to June 19.
