The sixth level corridor leading to the Department of Magical Transportation is painted a warm golden yellow, with the colored light from the stained glass window brightening up the middle of the corridor. Images depicting the various forms of transportation hang on the walls. A few scattered benches provide places to sit.

Meredith walked down the corridor of the 6th level on her way back to her cubicle. Heh that was a funny word. Lunch had just ended and she carried a stack of papers with her. She looked at the various pictures on the walls as she walked. Guess you couldn't escape wizarding transportation on this level now...it was everywhere! The stack of papers were heavy and she still had some ways to go. Suddenly she stepped right out of her heel. Literally.

Dang it.

At least she didn't spill the stack of papers everywhere. Sighing, she looked for a place to set the papers down so she could go retrieve the heel.

Briefly skimming a few papers as he walk, Mason made his way through the corridor. He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. Long day. He glanced up from a letter and saw a familiar face. Well, the back of her head looked familiar anyway. It was the girl from the muggle coffee shop! Her name was... Meredith! Yeah, that was it.

Mason witnessed as Meredith accidentally stepped out of her shoe. He quickly and quietly went to retrieve it while she set her papers down. He held it in front of his chest like some shoe model and waited for her to turn around.

After setting down the stack of papers on one of the benches, she sighed, brushing her hair back and turning around. To her surprise she saw that someone actually had her shoe. More specifically the guy from the muggle cafe. His name was Mason she believed. Smiling, she walked unevenly toward him. "Why thank you sir for picking up my shoe," she said to him in a teasing tone. She giggled a bit at the way he held the shoe.

She would have tried to walk better if she had known he was right behind her. The woman could barely tell that he had been. "My shoe please?" she asked, holding out a hand for the heel.

Mason gave Meredith a lopsided smile as she walked toward him wearing only one shoe. He bowed slightly, "Your glass slipper, my Princess." He said. He only hoped she got the muggle fairytale reference of Cinderella. Because he'd sure look like an idiot if she didn't.

He gently placed her heel on her outstretched hand. "The pleasure is mine, my lady." He said, a smirk tugging on the corner of his lips. Hopefully he didn't sound like a complete freak.

She giggled as he bowed. Glass slipper? Princess? Mmm...her brain clicked toward the thought of Cinderella as he spoke. It was one of her favorite fairy-tales as a little girl. She remembered seeing the cartoon movie and getting a dress-up gown and fake plastic glass slippers afterward. Her dad could hardly get her out of it. "I could get used to being called princess," Meredith joked, looking up at him wryly.

It wasn't a word usually used with her, even being the only girl in the family and everything.

She continued to smile as he placed the heel in her hand and put the shoe on the floor, stepping into it. Hmm...much better. Well, she had some time at hand. There was no rush to get back into the office. "How have you been?" she questioned, crossing her arms against her chest.

Phew, she got the reference. Mason chuckled. "Well, don't get too used to it. I can't go around calling you "princess" all the time; people might think I'm a softie. I have a reputation to keep." He said with a smirk, puffing up his chest.

Mason honestly had no idea how girls women walked in those things. 3 inch heels? Sometimes taller. And they just looked painful. You could probably take someone's eye out if you weren't careful. He pursed his lips and sighed. "Oh, you know... Fine." He said. Way to be as vague as possible. He laughed lightly. "Not much going on around here, it's just been me, myself and I working a bit just to go home and do... nothing." Yeah, he pretty much had no life.

She just laughed lightly and rolled her eyes. "Reputation? What reputation?" she asked in fake confusion, tilting her head slightly. It wasn't like she actually kept an eye on what he was up to when they were working. "As long as you can call me it some of the time," she expressed, emphasizing the some.

As if 'fine' could explain a lot of things. She supposed it was better then bad. "That's good," Meredith decided, giving him a slight nod. A small smile met her lips once more as he said that he did nothing after work and had no life. She sort of felt that way a lot of the time too. "I can clearly join you in that category." With her brother's being away and all. It was lonely without them. Thanksgiving was just around the corner....

Oh. No. He was offended. His jaw dropped and smacked the floor. Okay, not really, but it dropped pretty far. "Wha-what reputation?!" He repeated, sarcastically bewildered. "My lady, you have so much to learn!" He leaned in closer. "You see, I used to have two tear drops tattooed under my eye." He whispered, pointing under his right eye. Because apparently getting a tear drop tattoo under your eye meant you'd killed someone. Crazy muggles. "But the Ministry made me get them removed before I began work here." He nodded dramatically and folded his arms.

Mason nodded with a slight smile. Then all of the sudden... Woah, epiphany! "Well, since you and I are two incredibly bored human beings, why don't we say, go out to dinner sometime?" Ah, ensue internal panic. Did he really just ask a pretty girl out? "Or maybe coffee. Y'know, if you don't eat dinner." What? Who doesn't eat dinner, you idiot? "Maybe just hit the snack cart together?" Less time together=less time Mason has to worry about being an idiot. "Or I could even just go by myself and bring you something back?" Oh, even better. Facepaalm.

Mason Everard always knew himself as an idiot. And now, so did Meredith.

She grinned in satisfaction as he looked completely shocked. Heh, that was exactly what she was hoping to create in him. She listened as he began to explain about her having to learn and whatnot. Her eyes narrowed as he said something about teardrops being tattooed under his eye. "Wait...are you being serious?" she asked, frowning a little. Tattoo under your eye? That was odd.... She couldn't seem to figure out if it had some sort of meaning or not.

Meredith froze a little as he suggested going to eat dinner. Wait. Was he asking her out? Like on a date?! He started to start just listing random things off and she was barely registering to any of it. Date? An actual date. Oh god. She hadn't gone out with a guy in a longgg time. "Ummm..." was all that came out after he stopped rambling. "Dinner sounds nice," she decided, a smile meeting her face. Eeeep! "And...I thought you didn't like coffee?" she added, thinking about their last meeting.

For the love of all that's holy. Mason felt like smacking himself in the face. Why did God curse him with such idiocy? He winced. "No... It's a Muggle thing. Apparently however many teardrops you have tattooed under your eye is how many people you've... murdered." He said uncomfortably, looking past Meredith down the empty corridor. He sort of hoped she would've understanded. He waved his hand. "That was a dumb joke, forgive me." He said with a chuckle.

Mason grinned. "Good. It's a date then." He said. AH, a date! Mason hadn't gone on a date in ages. Yikes. Time to pull out the expensive cologne. He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't, actually. At least not Muggle coffee." It tasted like sewer water. Not that he knew what that tasted like...

What could she say...she was a blonde. Not that she tried to let her blondeness sink in. Most of the time she wasn't that stupid. Her frown deepened a little as she heard the word 'murder'. "Oh I see," she commented, looking up at his face. Hah joke. Not so funny after she got what it meant. A sudden thought popped in her head and she asked, "You've never....killed someone have you?" Way to go, she said to herself inwardly. What if he had?! Gasp. Nahh...he probably hadn't.

Her mood shifted as the word 'date' was said once more. She smiled and said, "I guess it is." Meredith's mind went to what she was planning on wearing. Hmm... there were certainly a few dresses she hadn't worn in a while. Maybe it was time to ask one of her brother's for advice. Even if she was in the fashion business, or had been, little brother's always seemed to know best. "Yeah it's pretty nasty. I only drink it in times of desperate energy." Ickkkkk. Coffee made her cringe just thinking about it.

Mason raised his eyebrows. "No, actually. I'm murder free." He said with a nervous laugh. Huh. Did he look like he could kill someone? Or would even want to? Frown. He hoped Meredith didn't think so. Though that would boost his so-called "reputation"...

He gave her a lopsided smile. "Great. Shall we say... Tomorrow? Or tomorrow's tomorrow if that's too soon?" He asked. Maybe even a week for Mason to practice not being an idiot? He chuckled lightly. "Exactly. I'm more of a tea sort of guy." Showing his soft side. He could never pass up a cup of tea. Especially if it was peach.

She let out a slight nervous laugh as he declared he was murder free. "Okay good. I was just checking to make sure." Because you know, you wouldn't want to possibly be in some sort of relationship with a killer. Not that she originally thought he was a killer anyway. He may have...accidentally killed someone, but never purposefully.

Meredith giggled and told him, "Tomorrow works for me." She didn't really want to wait for this date. Besides, tomorrow's tomorrow she was busy that evening. Hah okay so technically not 'busy'. There was actually a new muggle TV episode she didn't want to miss. "I can do with tea," the woman agreed. "But hot chocolate's my favorite." Yum!

He chuckled. "Yeah, you wouldn't want to be going on a date with a killer." At least he hoped not. He shoved his hands in his pockets.

Tomorrow. 24 hours. So far, yet so close... He grinned. "Excellent." He looked into her eyes. Boy, he was crazy. This woman was pretty and smart and she had really shiny shoes. And he was going on a date with her?! Either he was really dumb, or really lucky. Or both. Mason cleared his throat and looked at his watch. "Huh. I better go. I've gotta finish some papers and then head home." He said. He didn't realize it was that late. He was hungry... "I guess I see you tomorrow then?" He smiled at her.

She laughed a little too. "Yeah not exactly," she said in agreement. Cause that surely would be scary. Although the Ministry probably did background type checks on their employees so they wouldn't just hire a killer right?

Eeeep. She felt all giddy inside. Sort of like when she was 16 and some really cute boy just asked her out. The woman was so excited. Hmm...quietness. Then he declared it was time for him to leave. Oh right. "I should be going too." Just look at that stack of paperwork. Licensing portkeys was not easy business. She grinned. "You sure will," came her reply. She walked toward the stack of papers and picked them up. "Bye for now Mason," she said, then turned around and walked into the office.
