PLOT

It's England, 1950s. The Lockheart Academy is a school, or rather an institute for the outcasts of upper-class society. For instance: illegitimate children of ministers/business tycoons, children of unmarried daughters of such men, an occasional child of a maid, etc. The Headmistress, Jacqueline Dubois has made it her task to give such girls a chance at a future in the upper-class after all: she raises them to be ladies. They arrive as early as the age of several days, and don't leave until they are 18 and have a prospect of a good marriage. The girls have no idea of their background/parents, etc. Lockheart is their home and family. THe school can be found by a wonderful piece of nature with a forest nearby where they can spend their leasure time. The school is founded by the prosperous Mr Edward Charrington, and several content ex-students who have a wealthy life because of their education here.

For this RP I thought we could focus on the group 14- 18 year olds, as this will be the most interesting target. As for the actual plot, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I'm certain a lot will be interesting. The male pianist who plays during the girls' ballet lessons every day, for instance. Or the not-so pretty things going on behind the scenes ( Where do the girls come from? And where will they end up after their education here? Why is Mr Charrington so fond of the school?) And of course there's the girls themselves that can be as interesting as you make it.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

If you want to apply, make sure you:
* Understand the culture of England in the 1950s. If you plan to make your girl a pink-haired rebel that talks back at everyone and acts 'dumb' in general: go find an American high school RP, this isn't your thing. Of course there can be a rebel, but take into consideration the importance of NURTURE in a child's development. Someone who is raised in an environment like this, with not-so soft punishments for disobedience, WILL be able to keep her mouth shut at least several times, and will certainly not swear ( as there is no one who could have taught her to).

*Don't one line. I want to have a group of good Rpers who can attribute to the plot and have excellent characterisation for their character.

I'm in, Tasha! So, my girl is a bit of a bookworm and a music passionated, but don't let yourself fool by her looks...

Name: Eliza
Age: 15

Personality: Eliza takes care of herself. She's calm and quiet, even a bit shy, wich leads the other girls to think she's innocent, just like a sweet doll. What she doesn't show others is that she's fully determined and equally ambicious. Eliza wants to get out of the Lockheart Academy and see the outside world, so that she can be successful and powerful. She reads plenty of books and is learning music.

History: Eliza has been living in the Academy since she was 3. She had no memories nor knowledge about her biological parents, but she believes that one day she'll find out who they were. Jacqueline Dubois is one of the few people she truly likes, because the woman took her in and gave her the best education possible.

Extra: Eliza gets along with Sebastian, because although she despises his behavior, he is always true to himself and she knows he won't try to play with her.
Over the years, she met Peter Dubois. She became fond of him exacly because he's so different from Sebastian.

Although she does not get to bake often, when they have cooking lessons she is in her element; the only thing she likes better is dancing. Mariette has constantly strived to be the best she could be, and has constantly been better than she thought she could ever be. She has the perfect manners, and has been brought up right by the school. She does not know where she came from, nor does she care; she does however care where she ends up.
** Unique character traits: Her dancing. She is one of the best students Madam Debois has ever had.

** Biography: Madam Debois found a large silk baby pram on her doorstep with Marietta inside wearing a babysuit and wrapped in a blanket with the letter ‘M’ on it. “Look after the Princess,” was all that the note said, in an elegant black ink. Marietta grew up not knowing that she was a legitimate daughter of the eldest Prince of Latvia; a product of his last fling before his marriage to the Princess Anastasia of Russia. Having grown up at the Academy, Marietta knows nothing of Russia or the language and is a proper English Lady.

Name: Agnes Gwendoline Harrison
Name Reasoning: When Agnes was left at Lockheart, at three weeks -approx- old, there was a note. Please give our child the best possible upbringing. Yours, Gwendoline. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course the child wasn't going to be name Gwendoline. It was sort of a horrible name. But it would do for a middle name.

Age: 16
Appearence: Agnes has bottle blonde tightly coiffed hair, and her rich blue eyes could have only been inherited through her parents. There is never a moment that Agnes has ever slouched, and finds her back dead straight at all times.
Height: 5 foot 6
Build: Slim
Personality: Agnes is indeed wants what she wants and carries on until she gets what she wants. She is as simple as that. And mostly what she wants, is indeed the best for herself and the chance to marry off, with money of course. She's self absorbed, and doesnt think much of men, unless they produce the cash. Of course she does have a heart, but its been pushed aside in the attempt to make her a 'lady'.
Interests: Agnes adores to arrange flowers, and is quite the gardener, as long as she doesnt get her dresses dirty.

Talents: Effy can play the piano, thanks to the masterful piano teacher at the school, and likes to sketch quite a bit.
History: When she was left at the school as an infant, someone had left a note saying, "I hope you will care for my daughter as I would have cared for her. She was born this month, a week ago, on the 17th. Please give her a name that would suit her. Signed, P. Escobar" Seeing this, the matron of the school decided to name her with intials coordinating that of the person who had left her here, assuming it was her mother who had dropped her off.
Personality: Evangeline, or Effy as she prefers to be called, seems like sugar and spice and everything nice on the outside, but is truly not. Her true, few friends know how brutal she can be to others and sometimes, to herself. She tries to remain detached from the fact that her parents abandoned her and that she might be an orphan (not knowing if her parents are dead). Sometimes, her emotions from these unloved feelings come out when she becomes angry. The teachers of the Academy adore her studious ways and polite manners in their presence. She can be quite a show-off sometimes, though.

Effy is cunning, sometimes going all out to achieve her goals, and can sometimes be a complete goofball, letting herself dance like no one is watching and singing songs off key. Even though the school has raised her to be boy-repellent, there is always somewhat of an interest that she has had in the opposite sex, though nothing inappropriate. The way the teachers of the Academy speak of boys, they make them sound like monsters only interested in sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. These things don't exactly interest Effy, but one day she'd like to observe boys "in their natural habitat."

Personality: Irena is a quiet girl. She's very feminine and gentle. Irena loves to read romance novels, and she's a hopeless romantic. She's shy, and she doesn't interact with people she doesn't know well. She grew up with the girls from the academy, so she's open with them. She loves playing the piano.

Background: Irena, as all the girls in the academy, was left there when she was only a few days old. A small note was attched to her blanket: 'Please, care for her. I love her so much, and I can't bare leaving her. But I have to. M. Hamilton.' Since then Irena lived in the academy.

Cynthia was brought to the academy at the age of five after her mother and father died in an accident she doesn't remember. Her only living relative sent her to the school to teach her to become a young lady as he was an archaeologist and so had no time for the young child. She hasn't seen him in eight years.

Like any well brought up young woman Cynthia is polite to her betters and differential to most people. She has however learned how to manipulate some people to her will if she so chooses to. One of her passions is singing and some have said that she was blessed with the voice of an angel, she also enjoys ballet and literature.

When one first meets her they may think that Cynthia has no personality however that is due to the fact that she is shy around people that she doesn't know. As people get to know her they will discover that although she is still quiet she can also act like a crazy person when the mood strikes her, getting riled up by the other girls at the academy. She is also quite flirtatious when not under the supervision of any of the teachers or the headmistress.

History: She was dropped off at the academy when she was no more than a few days old, in the dead of night. She had smelled faintly of fire and her whole basket had appeared to be covered with soot and slightly charred in places. The note that had been attached to her had simply read:
“I hope she’ll have her mother’s spirit and her father’s bravery. Take care of little Lillian Be”. The handwriting suggested that it had been written hastily.

Personality: Lily, as she prefers to be called, is a very high-spirited child. She has boundless energy all the time, and is usually the cause of any mischief done in the school. She excels at her dance studying and has the sweetest voice in singing class, but almost always has bleeding fingertips due to her abominable work during sewing class. At the same time, Lily is also known for her angelic appearance and whenever the situations requires it, the fourteen year old can and will behave just as well as the other girls of the Academy.

She aspires to be a professional ballet dancer or a singer after she graduates from Lockheart’s Academy and, unlike some of her friends, does not wish to find a good husband at eighteen. But maybe that’s just due to her tender age. Lily prides herself on her excellent self control as well as her streak of feistiness – believing it’s the traits the note had stated she was supposed to have.

History: Peter is the son of Jaqueline Dubois, the headmistress of The Lockheart Academy. When Peter was just two years old, his father had left them so he has grown up with only his mother and some of the girls from the school as family. Some say that they see his father in him, but Peter prefers to be compared to his mother – he has always resented the man he had never known for abandoning her. Being the selfless person he is, the sixteen year old has never taken it personally.

Most of his time is spent at all boys private school about a ten hour drive from the Academy, so the school permits him to take prolonged visits as long as his grades are high. Truth be told, even if it is quite a hassle, Peter enjoys these weeks as he gets to spend time with his mother as well as the girls of the school. He had more friends – even if they weren’t many – amongst the girls than at his own school; it doesn’t really bother him since all he wants is to get a good education and become something worthwhile. And he doesn’t need more than one friend (Henry Croft) in order to survive in his school in order to do that.

Personality: Peter Dubois is a very quiet boy. Usually preferring solitude to company, he is seen by others as a ‘loner’. He unconsciously likes to brood a lot, and quite often ends up in one wild day dream or another. He is extremely courteous and polite, but also very shy. As someone who puts his studies above everything else, Peter tends to value knowledge more than having an ability to socialize, something that he knows he needs to change.

A good future means he must be able to get along with people, and with only two years until he is eighteen, Peter has realized that he needs to change. Starting with the new term. Otherwise he might just end up being recruited to the army, and that's the last thing his mother needs.

History: Gail was brought to the Academy by a very stony faced man who was built like a body guard. He quickly handed over little two week old Gail as well as a guitar case with her name on it. She was wrapped in silk blankets and handed roughly over to the matron on duty. The man handed the matron a note and then left quickly as if he had never been. The note simply read:
Gail has been at the Academy even since and has no idea where she came from. She is certain that the note was written by a man, her father, and that’s enough for her. For now.

Personality: Gail is a quiet, soft spoken young lady. She doesn’t like arguments or fights but she does have a temper. Gail has a habit of saying everything that is on her mind regardless of how they may affect the person or people she is talking to. As a result she doesn’t talk the much, she prefers to express herself through her music. Her guitar is never far from her hands and she loves to play.

Gail is an excellent listener to those who can stand to be around her. Most either feel awkward with her silence or snub her because of her no nonsense way of doing things. She does sometimes feel left out but again her music saves her more often then not. She wouldn’t know what to do if something happened to her guitar.

Anything else?: She is terrified of slugs. Gail also likes to sing but doesn’t ever sing in public. She hates being called Nanette.

After that, She'd pushed the door bell and ran eventually.
