"Oh," Anna said. That made sense. "It's okay... you don't have to be nervous around me though, I don't bite... unless I'm provoked." She smiled. That was probably the wrong thing to say, but she couldn't help it. She added, "Just kidding, but, really... no need to be nervous."

"Yeah, okay," Alexander didn't sound convinced, but he decided against arguing. "So, um... are you looking forward to being back at Durmstrang?" It was one of the more idiotic questions he'd ever asked, but he really didn't know this girl that well. It was a safe way to start a conversation with a virtual stranger.

Upon receiving no response from Lance, she huffed and sat back in the bench, sulkily. As if things could not get worse, typical to weather at sea, the clouds opened and the sky began to throw rain down on the unsuspecting children. Scowling up at the sky, as if she were cursing the Gods, she could do nothing but try to pathetically shield her head with her arms. Her leg still numb, she looked down at it, cursing herself for ever letting that Ormand brat help her. Now she was stuck.

"Yes, definitely, I was at my grandmother's the whole summer, and well..." She started to say. However, it started to rain and kids were dashing all around them, trying to get inside and off of the deck that was openly exposed to the weather. She frowned and said, "Well, I suppose I am going to head inside..."

"Alright," Alexander replied absently. The rain didn't surprise him, considering the weather patterns this far north, but he was surprised that the Riddle girl wasn't moving from her perch on the bench. "I'll catch up with you in a moment."

He approached her cautiously, judging that she was in a foul mood based on her scowl. "Um... Riddle?" He glanced at the awkward way she was sitting, all of her weight on one leg, and Alexander wondered if she was hurt in some way. Ormand hadn't struck her or cursed her during the time he had observed, but that didn't mean much. "Do you... are you alright?"

"That stupid son of a..." A clap of thunder could be heard in the distance. Shaking her head, watching water splatter everywhere from her soaked hair, she sighed, "It doesn't matter what he is. I'm stuck, my leg, it's all numb, do you think you could help me? Just to get inside, you've no obligation after that. I mean, I noticed you and Anna together and I didn't want to intrude. If anyone should feel obliged to help it should be that twit, Ormand."

Anna nodded to Alexander before heading inside where students were rushing about everywhere, trying to find places to themselves. She decided that she would find somewhere to sit after everyone had found their own, there was just too much commotion. Honestly, it was amazing how a little bit of water caused them all to go into a frenzy. She let people pass her, many of them bumping into her and pressing her against the wall, having no courtesy to look where they were going. She resisted the urge to take out her wand and curse a group of second years giggling and showing off, and rolled her eyes.

"We aren't together," Alexander replied blandly as he tucked his book inside his robes. "We were just chatting. What did Ormand do to you, anyway?" He crouched and put one arm under her knees. The other he tucked around her back. "It would help if you held onto me a bit; at least in the beginning," he blushed a bit and was thankful for the darkening sky and the rain that made everything a bit blurry.

"Sorry.." she added realising how awkward she was making the situation when it needn't be. Placing an arm around his neck, she said, "I didn't mean to incinuate that you were together, like that it's just you did seem very involved in whatever conversation you were having. Either way, I don't want to be a bother to you." Flinging a bit of soaked hair over her should, she snorted at the mention of Ormand, "He thought he was being helpful. Stupid me, I forgot he doesn't think. I still don't believe leaving me with a numb ankle, helpless, was an accident." Seeing he would not understand, plainly because she hadn't explained, she told him, "I received a letter from Karkaroff, not one of his nicest ones, not that he ever has anything nice to say to me, what with Dumbledore being the only reason he keeps me in the school...but yeah, so I got angry and kicked the panel on the deck wall. Not a smart idea, bruised my ankle and managed to hobble along and, sods law, the only seat free was next to Ormand. He offered to help with a potion and a cloth and now here I am with a bloody dead joint. Really nice guy." she added, rolling her eyes, hoping they would be inside soon.

Alexander lifted Riddle fairly easily and began walking towards the door to the cabins, clutching her against his chest. She was giving him an onslaught of information, and he wasn't exactly certain how to respond. They weren't friends; in fact he wasn't really sure what her first name was. The professors addressed the students by last name. There were rumors about her, of course, but he had never really paid them much heed since there was the occasional rumor about himself as well.

"That was careless of him, but I'm sure he meant no harm," Alexander finally offered. "It was in very poor taste for him to leave you on the bench like that, however, considering it looked as if it would pour since we boarded the boat." They finally reached the doors, and Alexander breathed a sigh of relief.

Releasing herself from his grasp, she balanced by holding a bannister and thanked him, adding, "He's a chimeara, since when do they do anything in good taste?" Feeling she'd probably already divulged too much information the boy, she hobbled along until she found a spare compartment and flung herself on the bed, thoroughly exhausted.

Gavin sighed. He was getting restless and, looking out the window, he saw it had begun to rain. Sobek was curled up and didn't look like he wanted to go anywhere so, Gavin decided to go for a little walk. He opened the door to the cabin and walked out into the hall.

Alexander watched Riddle hobble off. He had forgotten to ask her first name, but she seemed in a hurry to settle down somewhere and get away from him. Turning in the hallway, he spotted Ormand exiting a cabin farther down the hall, followed closely by that strange cat of his. He nodded to the boy and wondered if the proper thing to do would be to mention Riddle's hurt ankle.

After a few minutes, the commotion started to die down and Anna saw Alexander carrying Marcella in. She raised her eyebrows in surprise, but saw the girl holding her ankle and a bruise that started to show on it. Anna hoped Gavin hadn't done that. She saw Alexander notice Gavin and decided to lean against the wall and watch.

Sobek decided to go for a walk as well. Gavin wasn't surprised. When he looked back up, he saw the Oblansk kid looking down at him. Walking up to him, Gavin looked up at the much taller boy and asked, "Can I help you with something?"

Jumping up in shock panic, Marcella hobbled toward the door and spun her head around. Not seeing Minelli, her tiny barn owl, she wolf whistled through her fingers and, luckily, the bird speed toward her, almost knocking her smack in the face in it's excitement. "Bloody animal..." she groaned, flinging the thing so that it landed in the room. Seeing Anna, Gavin and Alexander all looking her way, she frowned and then ducked back inside the room, just after flashing Ormand the biggest look of loathing she could muster up, considering the pain she was in.

Alexander turned from Ormand's question to peer curiously at Riddle. She disappeared back into a cabin, and he turned back to the smaller boy. "Do you know anything about that?" he asked a bit dispassionately, nodding towards the closed door. "Her ankle?" He spotted Anna leaning against a wall and bit back his grin. That bloody girl was at it again.

"Yeah," Gavin replied, giving the door which Riddle had dissappeared through a look of contempt. "The ungrateful..."

He turned his gaze back to the much larger boy and decided against speaking his mind in regards to Riddle. "I offerred her my help and she threw it back in my face... literally," he finished, crossing his arms, as if to say, "Good enough for ya?"

Alexander cocked his head at the boy, trying to read him. He was certainly a Chimaera with that attitude. "You left her out in the rain and she couldn't walk," he explained. He kept his tone non-confrontational and light, but he wondered why he was even bothering to have this conversation. Riddle and he weren't friends, and she had dismissed him as soon as she was indoors. Alexander guessed he just felt responsible for her, though he didn't know why.

She could not believe the nerve of that guy. He saw her, he saw her pained expression, he must have, yet he felt not even a small need to apologise for abandoning her.

What was she saying, she thought, settling onto the bed. She was the heir to all darkness, she needed no-one's help. A small voice inside her reminded her that this was precisely the reason why she stayed to herself. No matter how much people pretended, they really didn't care and she didn't need them or their pity.

"I didn't abandon her. She insulted me and I left. It wasn't even raining at the time," he said, wondering why in Merlin's name he was defending himself to this oaf. "What do you want me to do, apologize? Well, you can forget it. I did nothing wrong, other than try to help her out."

Hearing an argument starting outside, she only became mildly interested as she heard her name being brought up in the confrontation. Twisting a piece of her satin fringe around her finger, stroking the clumsy Minelli, she squinted at the wall, as if to see through it and recognised Gavin and Alexander immediately. If it weren't for the fact that they were fighting over her, she might've stopped it. But it was getting rather interesting so she sat and listened, using her wand to open her door so she could hear what they were saying better.

Jared entered inside the large deck of the ship immediately as soon as the rain immensely poured down on the ship. However, he turned back when he remembered that his owl was out there, flapping her wings. Now, he had to find for her and soak his feet… no, his body just to find that bloddy bird.

Bored with just listening, despite her injury, she hopped to the door and yelled down the corridor, "Do you mind lowering your voices? Some of us are trying to get some rest, only it's impossible with you two shouting the odds for all to hear."

Jared, sopping wet, found Lywhel on one of the masts. She was drenched and shivering at the top. Her feathers started to peel from her body. Being her master for a long time, he could see that his owl was afraid.

He heaved a sigh and conjured a spell to protect him from the rain. Another flick of his wand, he bewitched the mast, jolting his bird to come down. She did. He caught her with his hands and left the rain, going inside the deck.
