Then that's that. We're not playing with canon (haha Voldemort ... with an offspring *cough* although Snape could have a daughter ... all Jo said was that he had no son *cough*) so yeah. But I too believe there's an afterlife looming somewhere in the wizard world. Otherwise why would Jo say she won't discuss religion in relation to the series until after book 7? *clams up*

It surprised her a little that Sirius scurried away so quickly; she'd expected him to beg, be even more clingy. Not that she was complaining that he wasn't, it just surprised her.

With a sombre smile at her minder, she entered the castle and headed straight for the hall, sitting at the vastly empty table toward the end. Picking at the fruit bowl before her, she began to peel an apple with one of the golden knives set before her. At the arrival of Dumbledore, and a quick glance at the windows, she realised that the day was fading into early evening. The kids would be here soon.

Sirius walks into the Hog's Head and orders a bottle of Firewhiskey and a glass. He is in the mood to get dead drunk. Sirius pours about three drinks and downs them in rapid succession and starts on a fourth when he remembers the students arrive tonight. Sriius curses under his breath. It wouldn't due for the new transfiguration professor to arrive at the opening banquet dead drunk. He puts the half full bottle of firewhiskey in his robe pocket and pays the bartender. He proceeds to leave the Hogs Head and aparates back to Hogwarts. Sirius needs to get ready for the evenings festivities.

Tonks sat up, her face screwed up in concentration. She could see her reflection, and decided it was time for a change. A moment later, black wavy hair fell untidely to her jaw. 'What does it matter anyway?' she offered to teh conversation nodding for the bottle. 'Do any of us have a choice to be here?' She made a derisive noise. 'I know I didn't have any option. Great way to educate kids. Have their teachers practical prisoners of the school.'

Since I won't be getting my book or be able to read it for a little while (though I'm still debating going out to get it at this time) I figured I should post in this RP which I've been neglecting.

Dumbledore walked into the Great Hall, his eyes twinkling and a smile playing at his lips. This was one of his favorite times of year, a time for new beginnings, when the Great Hall would be filled with young witches and wizards, eager to soak up magical knowledge. Marcella was seated at the table and even her sombre mood could not dampen his own. And, it seemed he had come just in time for out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Severus walking in. The two of them had been actively avoiding people over the past few weeks, most especially though, each other. Dumbledore sat down in his chair and smiled in welcome at the Potions Master. "Good evening, Marcella. Ready for the start of term?" he greeted his God-daughter while Severus made his way to the table.

He could put it off no longer. It was time to leave his sanctuary and make his way into the castle. Snape should have known his luck in avoiding Marcella would run out eventually. Luckily, his seat was on the opposite site of Dumbledore and they would be unable to converse... unless the Headmaster attempted to make them, which was entirely possible. "Headmaster," he nodded his head as he pulleded out his chair.

OK so I got it the wrong way round.

Snape could have a son.

"I think. Or, at least, I hope." she replied to Dumbledore, trying to smile. Her effort was pointless. As her heart wasn't in it, the expression came out more like a grimace than anything else. The moment she'd finished speaking, she turned and looked directly at her plate, having seen Snape enter and sit next to Dumbledore. She hoped more than anything that her God-Father would settle for peaceful silence.

Tonks shrugged, filling her glass and downing one last drink. 'Time we got back then boys,' she suggested, standing up between the two. 'The kids will be arriving soon, and we should be at the feast before they get there.'

Sirius returns to his room, shaves, showers, and puts on his new school master robes. He then looks at himself in the full length mirror. "My you have cleaned up nicely," the mirror says to him. Sirius has to admit to himself the change is for the better. His hair is now short and clean. He has managed to put some weight on during the summer break. Sirius is a new man, so why does he feel so old and miserable. He glances at the dresser and sees the photographs laid out on it. Besides James, Lily, and Harry, there are photos of Faith and Kristie. That night at Riddle House flashes back in his mind. Snape kiling his own daughter like she was a complete stranger, and Sirius doing nothing to stop him. He shakes his head. Sirius has to get these thoughts out of his mind. In a few minutes he would have to face Snape at the Teacher's table, and Dumbledore would frown on Hogwarts' teachers trying to kill each other at the Opening Feast. Sirius take one more look in the mirror. "You'd better hurry or you will be late, pretty boy." He picks his wand off the bed and heads for the Great Hall. As he walks down the hall, Sirius remembers the others will be there as well: Tonks, Sunny, and Harry. He hadn't spoken to any of them since they had gotten back here. Sirius is dreading this reunion more and more the closer he gets to the Great Hall.

"I'm sure you are," he smiled and pat her hand. "The students will be here soon. It will gove you a chance to focus on other things, rather than dwell on what has occurred in the past," he continued for the benefit of any who might hear.

Her instinct was to resent Dumbledore's comment. He spoke in such a casual manner, as if what had 'occured' in the past was something fickle. Still, she did have some sense of propriety; she knew launching into a slanging match in the middle of the Great Hall in front of hundreds of students, was not the best idea. Instead, she chose to grudgingly nod and mumble, "I plan to throw myself entirely into teaching. It shall give me a much-wanted form of escapism."

Sunny obeyed, rising out of his chair. "Remind me to keep the tone of sheer jubilance out of my voice as the brats.. or students or whatever arrive. Something tells me that since Hagrid hasn't been replaced.. I'll be one the one retrieving the miniture goblins," Sunny said, sarcasm and dread dripping off of every word. He tipped the House Elf with an extra galleon before starting the descent down the stairs. "Coming you, two?"

Dumbledore settled for her answer, knowing it was the best he would get. He only hoped she'd allow herself to heal. He then turned his attention to his Potions Master. Severus had been even less forthcoming than usual, though that was to b expected under the circumstances. It wasn't healthy, though, and he needed to find some way to get the man connected again. Hopefully the return of the students would give all of them a much needed focal point.

Tonks laughed, droping her glass on the table and swinging around to follow. She came up beside Sunny, slipping an arm around his waist under his robe. 'Now now, be nice to the little children. After all I doubt Dumbledore will apreciate it if you aren't.' She glanced back to see if Harry was following. 'Besides, you have all the time of classes to be as mean as you like.' She looked up at him, mischief playing in her eyes. The eyes disapeared fast though as she slipped on the next step, falling against the wall and dropping several of the hard steps on her rump.

Snape sat silently at his place, barely registering that there were others even present, let alone conversing. He had retreated within his thoughts. He was not looking forward to the arrival of students, though arrive they would, and in a very short time.

"I..," Sunny started, but never got the chance to finish his sentence. Tonks stumbled down the last few steps in ture Tonks fashion. Her hurried down after her, lifting her back to her feet. "Best keep that nice rump undamaged," he said playfully in her ear. He looked back for Harry, but decided he was a big boy and hurried along, his arm wrapped around Tonks firmly.

She looked up from under her hood as the two passed. A smirk played across her lips. Let them have their fun. She downed the liquid left in her glass, moving her foot from the stool it rested against to the floor. Steadying her robes so they moved as little as possible she crossed the pub and moved out into the street. The couple were already moving up the street when the door opened again. She smirked, letting her head bow down so it was covered, and hooked the young mans arm. It was an easy matter when they were so close to find his wand and retrieve it from his pocket. 'Now why is a young handsome man such as yourself leaving with no company?' she purred.

'No surprises that you're interested my rear,' she laughed, wiping some dirt off and moving on. A quick glance at her watch quickened her pace. 'Oh dear. We're very close. If the train comes on time we might end up late.' In the distance, a whistle blew. 'No time to walk, aparate?'

Harry nearly toppled as he suddenly changed directions. He pulled his arm lose with a jerk before scrubbing his hand through his hair with confusion. "Er... sorry? I had company, they've just chosen to leave me here for a quick grope, I think. I'm sure I'll find them before too long." He glanced around as if Sunny and Tonks might fall out of a darkened doorway at any moment.

'Well, isn't that just the way,' She was having a hard time keeping her voice in this purr. So, ickle Harry had been having a few drinks with his new friends..all the better. She glanced up, her hood still hiding most of her features. She moved beside him, taking his arm again. 'Let me walk with you a bit of the way?' she purred lightly, fluttering her eyes, the only part of her visible. Toying with the boy was a welcome distraction after the pain and the punishments.

"Last one there..," Sunny started, but was gone with a pop before he finished. Tonks landed seconds after him just outside the gates. "...is beautiful," he finished. This woman had turned him into such a sap, he thought as he grabbed for her hand. "Hurry now! We mustn't the miss the rodents.. or students.. whichever you prefer."

Harry saw no harm in her walking with him, although he wasn't sure who 'her' was and he wasn't really up for any flirtation. He was a taken man... okay, so he wasn't at all anymore, but he was tipsy and late. "Fine, but I have to be back at the castle very soon. So walk your bit of the way quickly, yes?"

She laughed, setting off at a skip up the lawns. 'How mad do you think Dumbledore would be if we weren't there?' She grinned up at him. It was entirely out of teh question, but she could at least think about it. She didn't want this job, or any of this feast business.' She pouted, tugging at her hair. As they aproached the main doors she could see through to the great hall. Several figures were gathered already at the long staff table. 'Here goes,' she murmured as they moved into the room.

'Such a rush,' she tutted, moving along beside him. 'Did Sirius not teach you how to treat a lady Harry?' She laughed, the sound low, barely escaping the hood. 'not that he would be capable of much. But perhaps it is that Harry has no time for such daliances. What's the matter Harry? The last few losses too much for everyones favourite hero?'

Sunny thought for one gleaming second.. that Tonks was really going to skip the meal... bummer. He knew exactly what they were going to do too.. Feeling worse about going to this feast than ever, Sunny followed after. "Let's sit at the ends," he whispered under his breath.

Harry was sobering fast. He jerked his arm from her and stopped walking, staring into her shadowed hood in confusion and consternation. "I don't talk about Sirius, and I won't let you talk about him either. Why do you act like you know so much about my life? Who are you?" It pained him to think about what he'd had to leave behind to come into hiding, but this... woman couldn't know that.
