He looked at his book and mouthed "sorry."

He shut his eyes and thought "Wingardium leviosa" as hard as he could....but...well...it quivered.

She smiled at Evan. " If you wish. We can always fix the books. I would rather use books because they are more complicated to lift then feathers." she gave him her reasoning and let him do as he wished.

"I'll....try, Professor."

He turned back to his book. His beloved book. It made him cringe to think that he might blow up his book....because he had heard that could happen.

It turns out that Evan was much better than he thought he was. He just under estimated himself all the time.

The book floated beautifully and floated back down. Easy peasy.

Mikaeela was late for her last year at Hogwarts. She had missed the train, the sorting and the opening feast. Everything had been weird this summer with her cousin, Lola getting mysteriously sick and ending up in St Mungos. Her parents had stopped their vacation to Egypt to be of support and then they had as suddenly wanted to go off again. Mikaeela sat in a mugglecar travelling to Hogwarts. She wondered what her boyfriend, Cole would say when she finally showed up. Two hours later the car stopped outside Hogwarts castle. Mikaeela stepped out of the car and took her trunk from her father saying "Bye, dad! I'll see you at Christmas!" before turning towards the castle. Mikaeela dropped off her trunk in the Gryffindor dorm and changed into her gryffindor robes before going down to dada class. Mikaeela knocked gently on the door before going in saying "So sorry i'm late professor Murdoch!"Looking around a bit confused she asked "What spell are we practising? Is anyone without a partner?"

Dont let it happen again." she told her with a stern look. She hated students being late, but it was an exception because of the first day. " Levitating a book my dear.Non verbal spells." she said to her as she walked over to explain. " I believe sam doesn't have one, but at the moment we are just practicing using it on a book. Focus on the object and then whisper the spell. Once you've got that down you can move on." She smiled at the girl." any questions?" she asked her.

James looked up at the girl who'd just walked in.Strange, he hadn't noticed her before.When she asked if there was anyone left without a partner, James looked over at Damien, tempted to leave him alone with his boredom.He frowned, deciding not to.After all what could a barbie-like Gryffindor know about DADA anyway?

He glanced over at Alice and that Ravenclaw girl.There was something going on with her and Damien but unfortunately for her, the feelings couldn't be mutual.After all those years of being friends with Damien he was more than used to seeing girls obsess over him.He still couldn't fully understand why though.It must have something to do with girls' complex way of coming to a conclusion.Strange creatures.Even the ones he used to date.Never understood any of them.

Mikaeela bowed her blond head ashamed saying "Sorry, Professor Ames.. It won't happen again i promise."She listened to Professor Ames instructions about levitating a book using nonverbal spells and then practising it with a partner. Looking up at the Professor she said quietly "No i think i got it. I'll ask if i need any more help." Mikaeela moved forward seeing an unfamilier boy stare at her. It wasn't her fault that she was late. Maybe he thought about the old kliche about blonds being beautiful, but not intelligent. Mikaeela blowed Cole a light kiss before sitting down in an open seat in the second row close to Eliza and Xan. Taking out her wand to start practising she hoped that from now on the day would get better. Closing her eyes she concentrated on the object and then whispered "Wingardium Leviosa" while moving her arm in the correct movement. The book quivered and then moved up in the air.
OCC: I'm putting in Sophia a little later if she isn't needed for the partner activity?

Damien had kind of blanked over the past few minutes, and seemed to remain partnerless.

Ah well, never mind. Better no partner than some fawning girl with more looks than brains...

He heard the thing about levitating the book with nonverbal spells. Not a problem.

He pulled out his wand and casually flicked it at the book, thinking Wingardium Leviosa. The book quivered slightly, hovered in mid air for a second, then landed on the ground. Obviously not as potent as verbal spells, or he wasn't that good. He immediately assumed the former.

"Join the club."James said to Damien as he noticed he wasn't doing that good himself.He tried the spell a few times but thought he'd stick to only being good at Potions and DADA(ooc:this is Charms class right?).

"So what's new?Didn't get the chance to talk to you much since we got here."James said quietly glancing over at Professor Ames to make sure she was busy.

"Meh, not to much. Had a little tiff with some people on the train. They happen to be sitting in this room, the usual, someone looks like they may be interested in me, Rosalie goes all psycho on them. You?" he asked, not bothering with the book now.

"Well, I've been trying to avoid my sister and believe me- it's a full time job now that she's in Slytherin.I can't get her to shut up."he shook his head wishing Irina had been put in Hufflepuff or something.

"So which girl is it we're talking about?"James asked getting back to the interesting part of the discussion."It's that Gryffindor next to Alice right?"

Eliza looked down at her book and gave a small satisfied smile. Easy enough, she thought, as she took out her wand, and without even needing to whisper any spell at all, she gave a swish and flick of her wand. Wingardum Leviosa and up the book went.

She had it soar over her head and allowed it to have a bit of fun just floating around. Her concentration was suddenly broken when her eyes fell on Mikeela, another good friend of hers. She released her book not payin any attntion to the fact that it was near the back of the room. Right around the spot where Damien sat -- and her text book came crashing down right infront of him.

THUD!

Eliza still hadn't noticed where the book had landed because she was talking with Mikeela. "What took you so long?" she asked with an egar smile. "I was looking everywhere for you on the platform -- I didn't even see you on the train or at the feast."

Rosalie put her feet up on her desk, bored out of her mind. She didn't want a partner, but participated anyway and gave a swish and flick of her wand. Wingardium Leviosa. Her stack of books went up in the air was very careful to not let any of them fall. Boring...

Damien was still halfway through answering James when the book came crashing down in front of him.

"What the-" he shouted, looking around. "What? That could have-, whoah!"

As an afterthought Eliza started to wonder about her book. "Now where did my book --"

And then she jumped, quite suddenly at the outbrust that came from the back of the room.

Oh -- that's where it went. Perfect.

She bit her lower lip and turned to Mikeela. "Hang on just a minute -- I better -- go get my book. Before he sets it on fire --"

She turned back and slowly walked up the aisle to the back of the room where Damein and James sat, chewing on her bottom lip the whole time. Upon reaching where the boys sat she cleared her throat uncomfortable. "Erm -- Sorry," she said quietly picking up her book from the table. "I guess I -- lost my concentration when I saw Mikeela."

She stood there -- frozen on the spot. Either out of fear or because she really didn't want to move, and she couldn't come up with a single reason.

Mikaeela sighed and said giving Eliza a small, but bright smile "It was mum who held me up. She repacked my trunk a million times making sure i had everything a proper lady needs. Thats why i missed the train and feast. I only arrived a few minutes ago."Mikaeela glanced around the room before asking "So what's happened so far? How was the train ride? Was the feast as delicious as usual?"

Damien cocked his head at Eliza. "Well? Anything else? Fancy trying to kill me again?"

He knew that she really wasn't trying to kill him, but, ah, whatever, it was fun to annoy people, wasn't it?

Eliza blinked her eyes at him and snapped out of her little trance. "Kill you?" she repeated with a raised eyebrow. "Oh yes, death by book is most unbearable these days. Nothing like using one of those Unforgiveable Curses, of course," she added with a glare.

"Even if I were to give you the satisfaction of getting that much attention from me I certainly wouldn't use one of my best books to do it," she snapped.

"Oh yeah, you cripple me with your insults. Why don't you pop off now, there must be some learning for you to do somewhere?" he said, with a cheeky smirk.

He smiled, then waved her away with his hand.

She stared incredulously at him before narrowing her eyes again, and with a loud huff, her book clutched in her arms she went back up the aisle to where Mikeela still stood waiting for her return.

"Sorry about that --" she mumbled. Her head was about to turn to the back of the room, but she quickly brought it back again to Mikeela.

"The train ride was --- rather interesting," she began. "A bit of a confrontation with our friends and a few -- others. But no worries. Just your typical Slytherins to ignore." She said this last part with a raised voice on purpose so that Damien might hear her.

Mikaeela had watched her best friends little chat with the slytherin boy with interest and a little worry. It wasn't like Eliza to quarell with a boy in class. He must have really gotten on her bad side. As Eliza returned she said "No problem. Was he rude to you? Anyway.. Confrontation with Slytherin's on the train? What was the confrontation about? Was he one of the Slytherins involved?" she asked pointing at Damien.

Eliza sighed and put her book down on the table and nodded her head slowly. "Remember Rosalie and James? They were sitting with him," she tilted her head back in Damien's direction, "on the train. Rosalie got all defensive because she thought I was staring at Damien -- apparently she's got some sort of thing for him, but when she started interrogating me, Damien came up behind her. I was all politness, introduced myself and everyone else and he comes up with this -- arrogant response --"

She shook her head and tried to imitate Damien's voice. 'I know you think I'm all handsome but try not to stare' blah blah blah. It was unreal, Mikeela. And then he went off on this 'Well I don't care that you introduce yourself to me and you don't care who I am just that I have good looks --"

She huffed again and shook her head. "It's rediculous. I'm just being nice and he's all --- Not -- nice."

*Jason looked at his text book and pulled out his wand. Right after he finished saying the spell in his head the book went up into the air. He smiled to himself. His uncle did this kind of stuff all the time. This past summer he showed Jason some easy ways to do it. He smiled at the book and tried to set it down. But before it could hit the desk the book zomed and hit him right in the face sending him out of his chair.*

"Ahhhh ow... that hurt!"

*He lifted his head from the ground and looked right at Damien.*

Damien couldn't help but laugh as the guy got smacked in the face. Not an all out guffaw, just a dignified chuckle.

"What are you looking at me for?" he said, as the guy stared at him.

Mikaeela sat down comfortably on a chair placing her wand in her lap and her book on the table. Listening to Eliza recap of the confrontation on the train it was clear that she had missed something important. That irked her, but there was nothing she could do about it. Twirling a strand of blonf hair around her fingers she said "Yes, I remember James and Rosalie.. Rosalie got defensive? I didn't know that Rosalie had a thing for Damien..That was news to me."Thinking hard Mikaeela added "Maybe Rosalie thought you were checking Damien out and wanted to make clear that she liked him."Mikaeela left her gaze drift around the room for a second stopping at Rosalie and Damien before she turned back her gaze to Eliza "If you were polite than he had absolutley no right to be arrogant and rude. Boys are silly and sometimes a bit egotistical. Don't give him the satisfaction of making you angry though its not worth it.."Thinking of Cole she wondered why he hadn't come over and greeted her yet.
