Overcome with emotion, overwhelmed, she turned her back to him and cried into her hand, hearteningly, vibrantly, a cascade of tears falling onto her face. Squeezing her eyes lid shut, she began to shake and shook her head slowly as a welcome ease dawned upon her, as if her chest were being loosened from a corset that had been down up far too tightly and had been worn for far too long.

As she turned away from him, Snape rose and stepped back away from her. He had expected to her to say something, anything, but instead, she had turned away from him in silent rejection. But then, why was she shaking? Placing a hand on her back he said, "I'm sorry."

"Dont say that." she said, scolding him. "You're not even aware of what you're saying sorry for!" Shaking her head, dabbling her eyes on the hem of her robes, she replied, "I'm, just, happy...relieved..I've waited for so long to hear that and to believe it..." she suddenly found she were no longer able to form coherrent sentences. Facing him once more, she allowed her head to collapse onto his strong shoulder, her cries decorating his black robe.

Snape was relieved when Marcella rested her head on his shoulder. He enfolded her in his arms and rested his head against hers, closing his eyes and enjoying the feeling of having her close to him. He had feared he would never be able to do this again. He moved one of his hands up to caress her face and she flinched beneath his touch. Opening his eyes, Snape looked at her injuries again, "We need to get you taken care of."

"I agree." she said, folding her arms around him, holding him close, fearing to let go. Then, rather abruptly, she blurted out, "It was Darrin."

Snape was about to let her go so that he could attempt to minister to her injuries when she wrapped her arms about it. He was about to laugh and scoff at her when she spoke again. He frowned. "What was Darrin?" he asked, casting another glance at the body.

She opened her mouth to speak and out flowed the words, although they came out with little emotion, almost as if she were talking about someone else. "This wasn't the only time Darrin has attacked me, while your back was turned."

Snape pulled away from her a bit, still holding onto her arms, he looked down at her. "What do you mean?" he asked, trying to beat down the anger which would find no release, as he had already taken care of the perpetrator.

The struggle to release the rest of the words, the graphic descriptions, the horrific images was plainly obvious in her facial expression. Reaching up to his face, with a pained look she mumbled, "It's hard...I want to tell you and now I am free to do so but I dont know what it'll make you think of me, whether you'll stop loving me after you've heard what I've been through, how I've been used."

Snape pulled Marcella back into his embrace, resting his forehead upon hers he said, "I want to know what you've been through. I won't abandon you for what someone else has done. I only wish I could have been here to prevent it."

"You could never have prevented it. He was driven by a force so powerful, no-one but myself might've stood a chance against it. And even I could not win in the end." she sighed, trailing her fingertips on the ends of his hair.

Snape shushed her, hugging her tighter, before urging her on once more. He wanted to know everything she had gone through while he was trapped, unable to help her. "Tell me what happened," he whispered, stroking her hair.

"I cant...." she choked, holding a constricted paml to her throat. "But I can show you, if you want..." she spoke, waringly, lifting a finger to his temple. "But I have to warn you, you're not going to like it one bit."

Snape didn't like the sound of that one bit. What horrible things had that vile man done to her while he was imprisoned? What was it that she couldn't tell him but, could show him? Not wanting to be enraged again but, needing to know what it was that caused Marcella so much pain, he whispered to her as he cupped her cheek in his hand, rubbing his thumb along the side of her face. "Show me," he said, encouraging her with his now expressive, dark eyes.

Delicately, she pressed the tips of her bitterly cold fingers against his temple, closing her eyes after taking a final deep shuddering breath.

ooc- I'm doing the memories in italics - Snape can have reactions to them if he wishes.

She felt the scene of his first attack on her slowly leak from her mind and enter his.

It had been less than a couple of hours after Snape had been taken away by the ministry officials. He had cornered her gruffly, shoved her against the wall, sneering, his lips scowering up and down, coursing her neck dangerously. He had snarled something uncomprehensible into her ear before placing a rough hand on her heart and whispering an incantation.

The next moment, she had found herself sat upon his lap, in his private quarters, his face cupped in her hands as she flourished him in willing kisses.

Through the memory, she spoke to him, "He needed to control me, he had to have to me obeying his every wish - this was his test to see if it had worked. I guess it needed to work in order for him to return me to my father - that was probably his motive behind the attack tonight."

Snape closed his eyes along with Marcella as she touched his temple and her memories streamed into his mind. He fought to keep his emotions in check that he might view what she had to show him without interruption; it would be easier on the both of them if she could just express the burden of memories she had been carrying with her for the past months.

She squirmed uncomfotably beneath Snape's hold as she watched her past self lean down on Darrin and then allow him to lay on top of her, drwwning her in kisses and suffocating her with desparate hurried embraces.

Blinding herself, preventing herself from being able to witness the next act as she knew what was to come, she opened her eyes as she saw the pair of them writhing around in the sheets, Darrin charming the room so that the occupants seemed silent and then watched, with constricted breath as the pained memory of Darrin finishing with her and jumping up, getting dressed and leaving almost immediately, flashed from her mind into his.

Snape's hold on Marcella tightened at this next memory. Although, he couldn't be sure if that was due to the memory itself or if it was Marcella's uncomfortable squirming. As painful as the memory was, Snape reminded himself that he had already taken care of the person at fault.

i did notes like that at the beginning of my exam - got my ideas out first - else i'll forget them

The memory quickly transpired into another. Marcella and Darrin were once more in a room, but this time it was hers. She watched miserably as he attempted to force himself on her and was pleased to at least she ehrself grimace at his kisses and try to force him from her, asking why he was doing this.

His reaction was swift and unhesistated, he took a full sharp swing at her, knocking her face down to the floor. With teary eyes she watched him bend down next to her fallen body, yank her by the scruff of the back of her robe and spit her face before pulling her around and kicking her sharply in the side.

Disturbed, she couldn't even coprehend what Snape might be thinking as they watched her past self cry pathetically in fear as she coughed up spurts of cold and felt another sharp smack against her face, with the back of his hand. Blood trickling down the girl's face, the pair of them turned dramatically to the door as Archie and Krisit pounded upon it and the memory ended as Darrin cowardly ran and escaped through the back door.

Snape's fists clenched at the sight of the physical abuse. His thoughts turned back to earlier in the day when he had also used physical violence against her. Guilt welled up in him as he watched the memoy pass.

It pained her so to feel his heart pang with guilt and so she quickly took her fingers from his head and looked away, feeling a little drained, knowing her eyes would give away her fatigue.

"Dont feel guilty. It was what he did to me that made you do what you did. A twisted chain of command when you think on it."

"That doesn't make it okay, Marcella," he whispered, turning her face with two gentle fingers so that she was looking up at him again. "Don't worry about me; I've lived with a lot of guilt for a long time. A little more isn't going to break me."

He smoothed back her hair and then reached for her hand, holding her fingers to his temple. He knew she was trying to hide her exhaustion and he also knew she would rest easier once this was finished. "Don't stop on my account. Let's finish this," he said.

"I cant..." she spoke, dragging her finger back down, tears glistening in her eyes. "I just cant...I cant risk filling you with so much anger knowing you have nothing to take it out on...I dont weant to go through it all again.." she whispered sounding unusually weak.

"Please, Marcella. It needs to be done. I need to know. You need to to relive it, one more time," Snape pleaded, as he dropped her hand and pet her head. He still didn't think she looked like she would finish. Not knowing what else to do, his slid his hand to the back of her head and kissed her softly on the lips. Leaning his forehead on hers, breathing a bit heavily, he whispered, "You need to show me."

"I...I'll try.." she spoke weakly, determinedly brushing away the tears clinging dangerously to her cheeks. The tips of her fingers lingered on her lips for a few seconds, tracing the kiss and then pouting her lips, she kissed her own skin and then lightlylaid to it rest on his forehead, encouraging him to hold her.
