Snape turned around at her thanks. "Is there anything else I can do for you?" he asked, concerned.

"I dont think so.." she breathed in despair, sitting on the edge of the bed, running a hand down her face and then leaving it upon her lap. "I just cant believe Dumbledore would do this, so soon, so harshly. It doesn't seem right." Shaking her head, she added, "I'm being foolish. Dont worry about me. I'll be fine." Sighing, running a hand over her wrists, where the red scars illuminated, she added, quitely, "I always am."

Snape nodded and left the room. Marcella seemed to be having a strange effect on him. For some reason he wanted to help her through her suffering. It was strange. These thoughts plagued him as he sipped his tea in the kitchen, alone.

Turning over in her bed, she sipped the potion and closed her eyes, desparately trying to fall into a dreamless sleep, praying she wouldn't wake. Ever.

Snape had a restful night's sleep. He walked down to the kitchen and started breakfast, wondering when Marcella would be coming down. Snape was still a little worried about her, so he also started to brew up some more of his nausea remedy.

Awaking the following morning, she swore aloud, knowing she had lived to see another day. Why couldn't she have just died in her sleep? She didn't want to have to wake, to get up, to face another day, lonely, miserable, suffering. Forcibly, she pushed her covers from her body and slipped on one of her long black robes, lifting the hood so that her face were covered. Not able to move muh further, she tucked her hair into her hood and slipped her wand behind her ear, standing, staring out into the distance, but thinking of nothing.

Snape finished making breakfast and wondered if he should go and check on Marcella. The breakfast could easily be reheated, but it always tasted better fresh. So he ascended the staircase and knocked softly on her door.

A knock on her door awoke her from her silent wake and she turned her head monotonously, as if trying to see who it were through the door. Turning back to the window, she heaved a sigh of sorrow and said nothing, just continuing to gaze out into the countryside, wishing so hard that she could just drop dead. If only.

Hearing no answer, Snape assumed she was still asleep. He sighed and walked back down the stairs to eat before his own breakfast got too cold. He thought about the previous day as he ate, wondering what he could have done differently to help ease the shock of her friends' departure. Then, he began to worry that he was getting too close to the girl. It wouldn't be good if she found out that he was technically a servant of her father's.

Emerging from the room, she didn't know what to think, say or do. Or where to go? There wasn't much choice, granted, but somehow she was lacking energy to think or decide anything. Allowing her body to carry her, soulessly, she watched her feet as they walked her down the stairs, of their own free will.

Snape finished his breakfast, but remained sitting at the table. He put his hand over the Dark Mark and wished he could get rid of it, leave this miserable fight, and go raise his daughter in peace somewhere far away from all of this.

Dragging her heels, her feet walked her through the kitchen and her eyes lazily swept over Snape, who was sat at the kitchen table. Her hands reached for the doorknob and he feet carried her outside. Walking her toward the pond, her knees gave way at the egde of it, falling her body to the floor, sat upon her knees.

Snape lookd up at the sound of the door and saw Marcella walk outside. "Where on earth is she going?" he thought and followed her. She collapsed by the pond and he ran over to her. "Marcella, what's wrong?"

Distantly she heard a voice calling to her, but it became overpowered by something else. The water, cascading over the rocks, it was calling to her. Suddenly, her head felt heavy, as though her shoulders could no longer carry it. Feeling her brain become numb, a loud high-pitched sound whistling in her ears, her head fell heavily forward into the water. The loss of feeling overtook her and she failed to remember how to breathe.

Snape dropped ot the ground beside Marcella and pulled her up out of the water. He held her in his arms, pushing her wet hair back from her face, and willing her to breathe.

She felt her head being removed from the water, a scream inside her head and the painful, sharp sting of a bloodied cut on her forehead. Feeling her hair being swiped from her face, a pair of strong arms holding her, she tried to fight against it. But it wouldn't let her breathe. She screamed, she yelled inside of her head. She pushed hard against the barrier but it would not budge. She couldn't breathe.

Snape felt her mind fighting against something, something she wasn't able to fight. Her scream resounded inside his own head. He tried to help but knew his outside influence wouldn't be much use. All he could do was hold her and tend to the wound on her forehead, desperately clinging to the hope that the pain would subside.

The pain subsided and she Marcella made as though to breath a sigh of relief, only to find she were still unable to breathe. The color draining from her face, rapidly, her body became limp as her mind relaxed, with the interfering prescence having left her.

Marcella became limp in his arms. Afraid she might be dead, Snape yelled out to her mind, "Marcella!" He strained himself to read but one thought or emotion or anything from her.

She could faintly hear another scream, only this one seemed to be wanting to help. She tried to reach out to it, but found she could not. In a last bid attempt to get help, she tried to think the words, 'I cant breathe'.

Snape caught her thought that she couldn't breathe. So, he laid her on the ground, tipped back her head, and placed his mouth over hers. He breathed into her, as he told her to fight with his thoughts.

A surge of water started to rise up through her throat, from her stomach and she threw a hand against him, pushing him fron her way, as her head retched forward and she proceeded to vomit up the pond water that had entered her body.

Snape laid a hand on her back and another on her chest to support her as she spewed up the water from her lungs. His heart was racing from the drama and the relief he now felt, knowing she was alive.

Choking, she coughed hard and felt her body shaking fiercely as it seemed to relish in the relief of finally having oxygen returning to the lungs. Holding herself, she tried to stable her body, wanting it to clam down, feeling embarassed at being in this sorry state in front of him.

Snape just continued to hold her and send soothing thoughts to try and calm her. She would recover more quickly and avoid vomitting if she slowed her breathing and relaxed.
