Lex watches her sister Andi work her way up to the head table. Typical of her to irritate McGonagal on their first night back. Lex also notices MacNair and Malfoy get up from the Slytherin table and head for the doors. She flashes a big smile his way and waves as he leaves.

Lia stared at the girl a minute or two before looking around to see if something was wrong behind her. "What? Is there something wrong? Do I have a hair out of place?" she asked scrambling for her mirror again.

"Does my dad know?" Andi sighed, wishing he were there, just for that moment. She wished for her mother too, but her dad had been the captain when he was in school. He would know the perfect thing to say and he might be so proud of her. "I wish he were here," she shrugged and looked down the hall towards her friends. "You don't think Jake and Rusty mind, do you?"

"Yes, of course your parents know," Harry said giggling. "They're both very proud of you and I think you'll be getting something from them very soon......as for those two," he said, motioning to Jake and Rusty who were engaged with Joey, "Don't worry about them, they'll have their hands full with their NEWT's and deciding what they want to do after school."

Serenity sighed as the girl searched for her mirror to check her hair. While Ophelia was fumbling in her pocket, she muttered something under her breath, causing not one, but several hairs to come out of place at odd angles. "So, it is customary for Slytherins to stick with one another, unless it is to fraternize with a member of the opposite sex?" she asked.

"Yea," Rusty said still trying to let it sink in, "Dumbledore just announced him and he walked in....I can't believe it, how am I gonna do anything with him around," then Russ got another thought, "I wonder where mom is?"

Lia licked her fingertips and smoothed down a few strays, before snapping her compact shut again. "Well, there are exceptions to every rule. But, why would you want to befriend those arrogant Gryffindors, those brainy Ravenclaws, or ... oh gosh, don't even get me started on the Hufflepuffs,"she said waving to their table. "From what I've found, I've got all I need right here in sly ole Slytherin. Well.. except for a good time occassionally in the old broom closet," she said with a laugh.

Joey laid her forehead over on Rusty's shoulder. "You mean.. how are we going to do anything with him here..?" she corrected him. Joey raised her head up fast though at Rusty's last sentence. "Mom...Oh gosh, Russ... You know she's here. She's always with Daddy.." Joey grabbed both of his shoulders and turned him to face her. "Our parents are at Hogwarts. Pinch me and tell me I'm dreaming..You.. you don't think daddy knows I was with Malfoy do you?"

"I'm sure people from other houses aren't all that bad but, if you insist... I would like to get to know some of the people in my own house, anyway," she sighed and picked at her food a bit, looking around the hall. She wished she knew what to say to Ophelia but, she just wasn't the type of person Serenity would have normally hung out with.

Orion grabbed a roll and stuck it in his pocket, following Bryce from the Great Hall. "Your new woman is making eyes at you. I'm exhausted. Can you do something gallant and get it over with quickly?"

"Get what over with?" Bryce said, walking down the stairs to the common room. "The thing with Alexa? I don't think so. I don't want to push my luck. Sort of the same deal as with you and Rosier."

Harry smiled at his niece, "Okay.....oh Mattie, she hasn't arrived yet, this was a bit sudden for us so she's still tending to some things in London, but I suspect to see her before the weekend," Harry watched her begin to leave, "Ill see you in class then," he giggled.

I thought she worked with dad and mom to defeat the Dark Lord. I'm not doubting what you say, Wendie, but if Aunt Day did kill your uncle, wouldn't she be in Azkaban Prison righ now?" Lex is confused. Her father had acted rather cold towards Aunt Day on the platform, but her mother greeted her like an old friend. She doubted her mother would be friendly with anyone who tried and kill her father. There had to be a logical explanation for the whole thing. Lex looks around the room for Uncle Harry. Maybe he would know the truth. Ron Weasley was supposed to have been his best friend at Hogwarts. Uncle Harry would know how he died.

Jake's attention was drawn to his sister as she asked more about his father's days, "well Lex, as far as I remember, Mom and Dad told me once that this Voldemort guy was pretty ruthless. Far more severe than any wizard right now. And he had always been after Uncle Harry....something about a prophecy involving the two of them, I can't remember that part, anyway, he found out about Dad's ability to see visions and and also knew how important Dad was as a friend to our Unlce so he sent Serenity's mom to kiil Dad but for some reason I've never been given, Wendi's uncle was sleeping in Dads bed so he got killed instead."

Charlie had sat through the welcoming feast staying relatively quiet, by himself. He was trying to think up some crazy plans for the year, pushing his food around the plate, absently. When he heard that Joey's dad was going to be part of the staff, he smiled, and thought of poor Jo.... When the feast was over, Chralie made his way up to the Gryffindor common room.

Jake didn't seem to know much more than Lex did. The way he told it Wendie's uncle had been killed by mistake. "So this Dark Lord person saw dad as a threat to his plans and decided he had to die. How could Aunt Day have tried to kill him? She was in Slytherin House, so she wouldn't have known the Gryffindor pass word." Lex looks down at her plate and pushes it away from her. She has lost her appetite. "None of this makes sense and even if it's true, you shouldn't be judging Serenity because of something her mother may have done. I doubt Professor Dumbledore would let her come to Hogwarts if Aunt Day or she were a threat to any of us." Lex looks over at Serenity not sure what to think. Suddenly things had gotten so complicated.

Wendi couldn't believe her ears. They just didn't understand, how could they really?! "My uncle was innocent, and her mother only had a month in Azkaban. You may have a holy idea of Datura Rosier, but she's not liked in my family. I'm not blaming Serenity for her mothers murder, but I don't want to go near her. And I will protect my brothers from her no matter what. She may seem sweet, but here you are never knowing her mother was a murderer!" Wendi got up from the Gryff table. "I'm not hungry anymore. I'm sorry if I offended you but you have no idea of anything my family has suffered over the years...you'll never understand." Wendi whispered before she stalked off to the Gryffindor common room.

Tomorrow she would talk to Serenity, and warn her to stay clear. How could she have been so foolish as to make friends with her?! Maybe she was a good person, but then again she had been sorted into Slytherin. That had to count for something right?!

Jake looked dissapointedly at Wendi as she left. A lot of families lost loved ones due to Voldemort and his followers. Uncle Harry's parents were killed in front of him, and even Their own father was mostly responsible for the death of Serenity's father, a fact that he was pretty sure the twins didn't even know. "Well I'm sorry she feels that way, he said to Lex, I don't have any hard feelings about Serieity and Mom and Dad seem to trust her mom now so that's good enough for me." Jake looked up and noticed that Andi ahd left Uncle Harry so he took advantage of that moment to excuse himself and go up to the Staff table to say hi.

Beth watched Potter's response to the hugs with interest. She couldn't say why she disliked the man if someone where to ask her, but somehow, deep down she just couldn't stand him. Drawing her eyes from the scene, she dropped her fork onto her plate with a clatter, climbing up from the table. She turned to leave, then thinking better, glanced back at Ophelia. 'Oh after all, I'll never hear the end of it,' she murmered to herself, walking to where the girl was sitting.

'Hey Ophelia,' she said, nodding to the girl and fixing a smile on her face. 'Serenity, isn't it?' she said, turning her attention to the new girl. 'Hi, I'm Beth.' She extended her hand to the girl smiling. 'Welcome to Hogwart's, and to Slytherin.'
She glanced back to Ophelia. 'I'm heading down to the dorms. I just wanted to check that you two had the new password.'

"You'd be surprised at how bad they truly are. You'll see...," Lia said knowingly. Not seconds later, Beth was by. "Well here you go, Serenity. Just what you ordered! Beth is the Head Girl..,"Lia said a bit snooty. "And no.. we haven't got the password yet. How about we just walk with you back up to the dorms? Come on Serenity.. Beth can help me continue to fill you in on how things work around here.."she said getting up from the table.

Serenity really couldn't believe this Ophelia person and was glad when another Slytherin wlaked over to talk to them. She was going to ask to come with Beth but, Ophelica had taken the initiative before she had a chance to open her mouth. She got up with Ophelia and held out a hand to Beth, "Yes, it is Serenity. It's a pleasure to meet you."
