"Why don't you try me?" Wyn squinted at Day, trying to read her. If she learned anything from her father, it was how to read people, but Day played it to close. She kept it all hidden.

"Or at least come back and sit with us. I'd hate for you to have join the Slytherin elite again just because I'm overly curious. No one else saw the clipping."

Why didn't Day try her? She could use a little less from Draco and a little more understanding. Sometimes it seemed like Vince got her, but he was rarely without Greg or Draco... "Well, I am proud of my father. Why else would I carry around a clipping announcing his death? I mean, he stood up for what he believed in, unlike some people..." Day gave a digusted look in the direction of Draco's compartment.

Wyn sat down on one of the vacated seats, thinking about what Day said. "So you left because you thought that the Gryffs and the... I don't even know how to categorize the rest of us... the misfit Slytherins. You thought we would... what? Insult his memory? Believe you to be something you are not?" She shrugs. "If the Gryffs leave, I won't be too broken-hearted. I was alone in that compartment before anyone showed up."

She thought again about what Day had said. "I'm not too impressed with most Death Eaters. My father lives this secret life. He skulks around. He pretends to be someone totally different than who he is. It isn't a life. But to fight and die for what you believe in - that's something. You have every reason to be proud of your father, Day."

Day managed a half smile and slumped down next to Wyn, "Thanks. I don't know why I left. I just... I just couldn't stay. I know I never hang out with you guys much, but sometimes I just need to get away from Draco and all those phonies that hang around him., you know?"

"Well," Wyn offered Day a smile. "Gryffs are incredibly inquisitive. They ask a lot of questions. Goes along with being stupidly brave, I suppose."

Wyn glanced at the door, where she could see one of the Hufflepuff second years peering in at them in trepidation.

"It looks like this car is unoccupied. Want to play a game of Exploding Snap?"

Day stuck her wand out the door and shot a random hex at the Huffies still lurking at the door before turning back to Wyn, smiling, "Sure."

Wyn pulled the cards from a pocket. "So... about the intramural Quidditch. I prefer Beater, actually. Who else do you know that may want to play?"

"That's cool. So we've got two out of four beaters... I'm not sure who else would want to play, my three boys are on the house team and I don't think Millie or Pansy would want to join..."

Wyn thinks for a few moments. "I'm sure there are some others who would want to play. Maybe some sixth years. Do you think Madame Hooch will let us have the pitch occasionally?" She lays a card and the deck explodes. "Ah, darn..."

"I don't see why she wouldn't. We can probably scrounge up a bunch of people by leaving a sign up sheet on the announcement board in the common room." Day laughs as the deck explodes in Wyn's face.

Wyn wiped the soot off of her face. "Ugh... I am so very done with this game." She threw the deck of cards against the wall of the compartment.

Wyn shrugged and stretched out on her seat.

"John is my friend. I've known him since before we came to Hogwarts. But I'm certainly not friends with them rest of them. I've never seen Gryffs so willing to co-mingle. It makes me nervous."

"Yeah, that John guy... What's up with him? He's always been like that; trying to get in with the Slytherins. You dont' think he's a spy, do you?"

"John? No, John IS a Slytherin. He just doesn't have a lot of patience for most of the house. He's really open about that, which would make it really hard for him to be a spy. Although..." Wyn grinned, "maybe that's his master plan."

Wyn looks at Day, trying not to look surprise. Day trusted her? Could she trust Day? Wyn didn't even trust herself... where did she stand in everything?

"Yeah, that would be nice."

Day turned to Wyn, looking serious. "So, your Dad was teaching you hexes this summer?"

"Let me put it this way. In our second year when they started that dueling club? I hexed Neville Longbottom and then threw up. And it was a jelly legs hex. I hate hexes and curses... which is why I must spend so much time practicing. Plus, he hexes me so I can get used to fighting through it or something. It stinks."

"Yeah, that's gotta be tough. So, you're more of a support person than a front-lines person. Nothing wrong with that. But, if you'd like to practice, I'd be more than willing to help."

"If you don't mind the random throwing up, I think I'd really appreciate that. I don't want to be a support person. If I believe in something, then it is worth fighting for. I'm not going to be like my father... hiding behind a mask and a name." Wyn was surprised by her vehemence.

Day smiled at her. "Sure. Besides, I think we could probably do something about the throwing up part. I'll bet Professor Snape knows a potion..."
