Pansy meekly let Mattie help her to the castle. She felt that she was in the wrong, but Parkinson's never apologized. Besides, she would probably do it again if some girl made it onto Draco's radar. He was hers, whether he knew it or not.

"Th, thank you, Mattie," she said quietly.

Snape eyed Day as she moved to the far end of the table. it was a good thing he had anticipated this; he smiled an evil smile at his own ingenuity. "I'm afraid you'll need to be a bit closer to Mr. Potter, Miss Rosier. This project will take two people and a bit of teamwork," he said and gave them each a significant glare.

"Now, pay close attnetion, because I do not want you to screw this up. In your jars, you will notice some small creatures. You will need to take them out one at a time and extract the eyeballs. You will place the eyeballs in this container," he indicated a small vial, filled with a clear liquid that they each had on their table. "And place what is left of the creatures in the bucket."

He looked around again to see that they understood before continuing. "These creatures, though they are not still alive, can be tricky. One person will need to hold them steady with two hands, while the other will extract the eyeballs."

Snape turned and sat behind the desk. "Feel free to talk among yourselves," he said as an afterthought; he was already absorbed in something else.

*Mattie dragged Pansy to the common room and made way to drop her at the nearest sofachair*

Wyn clenched the edge of the lab table with white hands. She looked at Jay with pleading eyes, hoping he'd be willing to do the actual eyeball plucking.

"You would be a terrible Death Eater," she scolded herself, but it was no use. She was just weak, and she was ashamed.

Pansy collapsed gratefully on the couch and looked up at Mattie. "I appreciate your help," she said flatly. "If you want Draco..." she started. She couldn't relinquish him, but... what could she say?

Day looked over at Wyn. She knew the girl was squeemish and was afraid she might embarrass herself in front of the Gryff. Then, she looked up at Snape with loathing. How could he be so cruel to one of his own house? Surely he knew how difficult this would be for Wyn? In her sympathy for Wyn, Day completely forgot about who was around and talked over their heads to Wyn, "Hey Wyn, did you get a chance to speak with Mattie about that thing I told you about?"

*Mattie stared down at Pansy with the wands still tucked behind her ear and a pure look of disgust on her face*

"If I want Draco what?..Don't worry, I dont...I didn't the other night either in the Great Hall...he just introduced himself to me...Now..since I've been OVERLY kind to you, could you be so kind as to tell me who hexed and why?"

Wyn swallowed the bile in her throat. Day's voice made her jump, but she was shocked at Day's boldness. Asking that not only in front of Snape but also in front of two Gryffs?

"Uh... I haven't had a moment to speak with her yet," Wyn tried to give Day a significant look. "I'll talk to her when I next see her."

Pansy swallowed. Mattie wasn't trying to steal Draco? Her heart soared for a moment, then dropped at the implication.

She looked around to be sure no one could overhear. "Day," she finally said. "Day hexed me because I hexed you." It was the first time she had admitted her guilt outloud. It hung in the air between the two of them.

"She..she did? I didn't know...I mean wow...that was brave of her...No offense, but I'll have to thank her later..."

Pansy shrugged. "I wouldn't have expected her to side with you instead of her friends, but she did. Don't tell anyone," she demanded. Then she added, "Please."

"I'm a little shocked too...but maybe she has seen the truth..that just because I don't run around chasing after You Know Who like a mindless tool, doesn't make any less of witch than you and your type. If that's the case...then good for her."

"You think I'm a mindless tool because I follow power instead of weakness? I hope you change your mind. And I hope Day doesn't lose her focus being friends with weak people," Pansy sank into the couch, her jaw clenched.

"Yes, I think you're a mindless tool. Period. And are you insinuating that I am weak? Who is obvioulsy the weak one of us two? Who snuck up on the other and attacked them with out warning? Who? Pansy, Who? Who felt threaten by the other just because they talked to their little boyfriend? Now, you tell me who is weaker?"

Pansy wanted to dearly to wipe that look, every look, off of Mattie's face. But the girl still held her wand. Pansy sank even further back in the couch, showing extreme fatigue.

"I... I'm very tired. Please... stop yelling at me."

"Yeah..that's what I thought..."

*Mattie turned to leave the girl, she removed Pansy's wand from behind her ear and tossed it back at her.

Mattie left the dungeon with a smile on her face...she felt good about finally getting that out to Pansy...and now Pansy was in her debt...Mattie wondered aimlessly around the corridors with a huge grin on her face*

Jay looked at the jar and then back at Wyn, "well which end do you want?", he smiled

Harry looked at Snape then hearing his instructions he looked at Day, trying to figure out how she was going to take having to work with him he asked, are you feeling better, um, I mean after what John did to you?"

Wyn looked up at Jay with wide, terrified eyes. She shook her head mutely and refused to look at the yellow jar.

"I..." she whispered. "I can hold them if you'll..." She swallowed and paled.

Jay seeing that Wyn was having difficulty with hte thought of pulling apart these creatures look up to the Professor and asked," uh Professor Snape, can we use a spell to remove the eyes or do we have to use these knives?"

Wyn shook her head and cast an angry look at Jay.

"We'll be fine, Professor," Wyn said cheerfully, dunking her hand right into the yellow liquid.

"Why did you do that?" she hissed at Jay as she fished out a creature.

Jay looked back at Wyn in surprise," I wasn't sure if...you uh, I mean I, could handle ripping apart these things, this is gross", he said as he grabbe the knife and prepared to gauge out its eyeballs

Wyn bit her lip. The Quidditch captain was grossed out by their task? Not likely... he had done it to help her out, and then lied to save her feelings. It was... charming. She smiled a little.

"Alright, you big baby..." she gingerly held one of the creatures. "Go ahead."

Day looked at Harry and tried to slide her chair closer, but she just couldn't seem to move. "Uh.. yeah.. I'm feeling much better, thanks."

Then, looking resolutely at the jar in front of them, she finally got her chair closer and asked, "Mind if I cut?"

Jay took the knife and holding the jar underneath the creature (OOC: what are these things anyway) he reached ivover and while trying to grab the head of it actually placed his hand over Wyn's, he looked up at her face as he was beginning to dig the knife into the eyesocket and PLOP "OUCH!", Jay let out a yelp as the knife sent an eyeball flying into the air at the Professor and the knife slipped into the back of his hand squirting Wyn with blood and eyeball juice

Harry was looking at Day and was about to answer her question when OUCH!he and Day jumped as Jay screamed in pain

Wyn jumped as Jay's hand closed over hers. He was watching her instead of the knife and they both started when he yelled out in pain. The eyeball made a perfect arc towards Snape, and Wyn watched it in slow-motion fascination until it smacked him on the cheek.

Then time snapped back to normal, and she realized she had blood and animal juices dripping from her hands and face, and Jay was bleeding from his hand.

Wyn wrapped his hand in a corner of her already disgusting robe and called for Snape.

Snape got up from his chair, looking livid. "Ten points from Gryffindor," he said as he took Jay's hand and healed it up with a spell. "Now pay attention to what you are doing next time or it will be fifty points and detention until you can get it right!"
