Day was completely lost down at this end of the table. She wasn't sure how to deal with all these niceties. She cast a glance down the table at Draco, who proceeded to make a rude gesture at her. She made it right back at him and turned her attention back to John, Wyn, and their gang.

Wyn lauged at Mattie's comment. "I was starting to fear you'd lost your touch." She looked at a particularly shaky bunch of first years. "I would guess that's YOUR work?"

She noticed Day shifting uncomfortably beside her, occasionally shooting looks up to the front of the table. The exchange of rude gestures surprised her, but not enough to comment on.

"OK?" She asked Day under her breath.

"Uh.. yeah... I'm fine," Day said, looking around at all of Wyn's friends. Day couldn't believe how uncomfortable she was feeling. She was usually so self-assured. Sure she was no Pansy Parkinson, but she could hold her own. "Um... so, what do you think about this year's crop of first years?"

Wyn eyed the crowd again, huddled in front of the Sorting Hat.

"They look kind of pathetic. But we were like that too, right? Although I think I had the presence of mind not to look like I might wet myself at the slightest inclination."

She looked down the table. "Draco's giving you the death glare again. Is he unhappy that you aren't sitting with him?" she asked with a little amusement.

"No, he's just upsaet that I decided to sit here instead of with him," Day replied, glaring right back at Draco.

Wyn looked down the table to where Draco and his other friends were sitting. He caught her eye and scowled. Wyn stuck out her tongue.

"Well, that was mature," she mumbled to herself.

"He doesn't like you or your friends very much," Day said to Wyn while looking down the table at Draco and the others. Crabbe gave her a querying look, which was difficult to tell apart from the confused look he normally wore.

Wyn stopped watching Day's friends and looked at Day.

"He doesn't like me? He doesn't KNOW me. How could he make an informed decision?"

Day shrugged, "Who knows what goes on in that boy's mind? He's nothing like his father."

Wyn looked at Day in surprise. Her father had contact with the Malfoys, being a wealthy pureblood as well as a DE, so she'd seen much more of Lucius then she'd ever wanted.

"What do you mean? I suppose all I know about Draco is the stereotypes."

"Well, Mr. Malfoy is incredibly crafty and he's got a bit of power, too," she said excitedly. "Draco is slightly dim-witted, despite his amazing ability to lead. I mean, why else would he keep falling into those pathetic traps those Gryffs always set for him?"

Draco is sitting uneasily in his seat. He wants the Sorting and the Feast to end already. He also get those meaningful glares from Day, one of his good friends.

I wonder why she's looking to me like that. And who's that sitting with her? I don't think I've met her yet.

He saw the other girl stick her tongue out. He was surprised and felt kinda angry. No one dares to do things like that and gets away with it. He decided to come near them.

"Watch out, Wyn.. here he comes," Day said, inclining her head toward Draco.

Wyn smiled at Day's description. "Oh, I was really worried that you were going to say he secretly had a heart of gold and was in love with a Gryff. But I suppose that does make sense..."

She shifted uncomfortably as she caught Draco's glare again, then noticed him moving up the table towards them.

He approached the chattering ladies just in time to hear their last words. He wanted to get mad, but his intuition tells him not to.
Hello, my ladies. May I join your lovely chat? And might I ask, is it me that's the subject of it all?
He sits down next to Day, then he offered his hand to the other girl.
Pardon my manners, I haven't met you personally yet. I know that you know me already, but may I know who you are?
He waits for her to answer while he eyed the Gryffindor table.

Wyn cocked an eyebrow at the extreme self-assurance of the Slytherin.

"Bronwyn Darcy," she shook his hand. "My friends call me Wyn. You can call me Bronwyn."

She looks over to where Malfoy's gaze is fixed, the Gryffindor table. She smiles at Jay when she catches his eye.

Jay happened to be looking towards the Slytherin table when he noticed Wyn he sees here smile and Draco standing next to her, "uh oh," he said, "that looks like trouble and we've only been here, what 10 minutes", Jay smiled back at Wyn wondering what might be happening over there.

Pleasure to meet you, Bronwyn.

After shaking her hands, Draco noticed that Bronwyn is looking at the Gryffindor table too, smiling. He searched for the person who's receiving his fellow housemate's smile. He found out that it was Jay, the Quidditch captain of Gryffindor. He smirked at the thought of them together, and decided to draw his attention back to Day.

Day, I know I can leave them for a few minutes without worries. Or maybe not.

Draco decided to go check if he's right. He saw Crabbe and Goyle fighting for a piece of pudding which he nicked from the train. Nothing new there.

Wyn saw the look of concern on Jay's face and shook her head at him. She could handle whatever Malfoy dished out. And she wanted to keep the peace with him... he was Day's friend afterall. And Day seemed like she's make a good friend.

Down at the other end of the table, Pansy pouted at Draco's departure. She automatically ducked the flying pudding and didn't even notice when Crabbe and Goyle ended up on the floor.

Day watched Draco walk back to break up the fight between Crabbe and Goyle. She laughed- it was always a lot of fun to see those two fight over food. "So..." she directed at Wyn.

The two stopped fighting. Crabbe wiped away the pudding that settled around his ears.

That's better. Be nice, you two.
He then looked at Pansy.
Pansy, why are you pouting there? I thought you know better than to just ruin your face like that. And please, keep these two on their leashes. I just want to sit there with Day. Is it okay with you?

He couldn't wait for the answer. He knew better than to just keep waiting, so he got back to Day and said.
So, what now? I guess it's waiting time until those ickles firsties come in and ol' Dumbo blabber away.

Draco just sat back there, staring up to the enchanted ceiling, wishing all this would end.

Ron ate quietly but noticed the chaos insuing from the Slytherin table.

He looked over at Jay, who was talking to some of the Slytherin girls. "Where are Harry and the others?" he thought, looking sullenly at his large plate of food. Even Guin seemed distant.

Jay noticed Wyn's nod and felt that she must be okay "she can handle a twit like him alright" he said to himself, he looked back to his own table and saw Ron looking around, "you looking for her too Ron?, Jay asked knowing that he was wondering where Hermoine had been hiding....

What was that all about? Is he causing trouble? He's really cute though.Is he dating one you? I hope he comes back and sits with us again.
