Summary: Harry Potter has, quite possibly, the most exciting news of his life to share with his two best friends. Spoilers for 'Deathly Hallows'.

MNI under the name 'redjewelzs', since that's my sn there. It's post-DH, so it will contain spoilers to those who haven't read the final book.

The Blessed Generation
Harry Potter had never felt so happy in his entire life. He thought, perhaps, that marrying Ginny Weasley (now Potter), would have been the single happiest moment of his life, but this morning something had pushed that down to second place (albeit a very close second). There was a massive grin stretched across his face and he wouldn't have been surprised if it remained permanently as such given his present bliss.
Harry was dying to find his friends - and the sooner the better. He felt as though he would explode with the excitement and joy inside of him.
Harry was indeed so blinded by his happiness that he had not noticed all the people staring at him as he made his way through the Ministry of Magic. After all, how many saviours of the wizarding world skipped merrily to work at eight-thirty in the morning?
Many witches and wizards who passed Harry by gave him groggy and wary greetings as he made his way to the elevators. Those who met him inside the elevator were startled to see Harry practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, as though ready to jump around like a madman. He spotted his former classmate, Terry Boot, who had been immersed in a rather long piece of official-looking parchment, and quite literally threw himself at the other man, hugging him amidst a group of annoyed and cramped colleagues. Terry, who had to get off on the third floor, gently pried himself away from Harry and, casting him one last frightened look, ran down the hall as fast as humanly possible.
Finally reaching the second floor, Harry dashed out of the elevator, banged his way to his desk at the Auror Headquarters, and looked frantically around for a tall and familiar redhead. Spotting him at once across the room near a long line of file cabinets, Harry shrieked gleefully and made his way over to his best friend.
"Ron! Ron! RON!" Harry shouted. Everyone in the office stared at him as though he had gone mad, but he paid no mind as he began poking Ron's shoulder to get his attention.
"Hmm?" Ron mumbled. He had been skimming through a few files on former Death Eaters still on the run and so had not initially caught the note of eagerness in his best friend's voice.
"RON! RON! You prat, I've got great news!" Harry exclaimed. Ron, looking bemused, turned around and stared at Harry as though he'd lost his mind.
"What on earth... Ginny really needs to lay off the Cheering Charms, mate. You look a bit whacked, and everyone else around here already thinks you're a bit mad, so..." Ron murmured quietly to Harry. Harry waved it off, still grinning and bouncing on the spot.
"No no, no charms, Ron! Fantastic news - the best!" Harry said, now grabbing Ron's shoulders and shaking him slightly.
Ron placed the stack of files in his hands on top of the cabinet and gave Harry his full attention. He didn't even bother to hide the sceptical look on his face.
Harry, ignoring this, shouted, "I'M PREGNANT!"
Ron's eyebrows almost shot into his hairline, and he couldn't help glancing down to Harry's stomach before muttering, "Er, I didn't think that was possible... does Ginny know? Who's the father? I hope it's someone I like. Please no Slytherins."
Harry, who was also ignoring the outburst of sniggers from his colleagues, said, "What - no, not me! I mean, well, I am having a baby, but it won't be in me, it'll be in Ginny because she's the woman and, well, you know what I mean!"
"You're babbling, mate," Ron said. "But, is it true? Is Ginny really pregnant?!"
Harry nodded fervently, beaming at his best friend, who couldn't help but to grin as well. Ron pulled Harry to him and gave him a tight hug, the pair of them laughing heartily as Ron patted Harry on the back.
"This is... so brilliant! I mean - yeah - you reckon Hermione knows already?" Ron asked after the two men parted.
"I'm pretty sure Ginny must have sent her a letter or something; she's off in Ireland for an exposé on their national Quidditch team and won't be back until tonight, so I doubt they've seen each other. Ginny just found out this morning before she left, and it's fantastic!" Harry said.
He heard a loud outburst and pulled out his wand, thinking that someone had attacked, but realised that his fellow Aurors had risen to give him a standing ovation. They beamed as they walked over to Harry to congratulate him on the news, and he could do nothing but smile and hug everyone in turn.
After receiving warm wishes from his colleagues and telling the head of the Auror Department that they were going to the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures on the fourth floor, Harry and Ron found themselves in front of Hermione Granger's office door a few minutes later. Ron banged the door open, and Hermione, whose attention was on an incredibly long piece of parchment she was reading, screamed in horror as she pulled her wand out. Looking around and seeing that it was just Harry and Ron, Hermione took a calming breath as she glared at her best friends.
"Wha - what's the matter? What's happened? I thought it was an attack and almost cursed the pair of you! I think that I should have, to be honest," Hermione huffed, looking angry at the two men. Ron and Harry were still grinning while Hermione stared at them, bemused.
"Tell her, Harry!" Ron said excitedly.
Harry nodded and, turning to Hermione, said, "I'M PREGNANT!"
Ron stared at Harry and said, "You'd think after the second time you'd get that right."
Hermione glanced back from one to the other, noticing the smiles on their faces, and her face split into one as well. She jumped out of her chair and into Harry's arms, hugging him fiercely as she shrieked, "Oh, congratulations, Harry! That's wonderful; when did you and Ginny find out?"
"Just this morning before she headed out to Ireland! She'll be back by this evening so we're hoping to celebrate with everyone! I can't believe it, can you?" Harry said, his face shining with glee and awe.
Ron and Hermione looked at Harry, their exultant expressions mirroring his own.
"Oh, we must do something right now! I have a bill to write up, but... oh, this is such incredible news! Do you think we can take a few minutes to celebrate right now?" asked Hermione, whose face flickered with worry for a moment over not getting her work done. However, noticing the exasperated looks on Ron and Harry's faces, she reluctantly agreed to one celebratory drink.
Harry Conjured a bottle of firewhisky and three glasses for them. After filling and handing the glasses to the three of them, Harry looked from Ron to Hermione and said, "Here's to a less burdened generation than ours, eh?"
Ron and Hermione chuckled before they raised their glasses with Harry's and said, with hope and excitement, "To the new and blessed generation."
