I think the fact that Peeves is still at Hogwarts is quite the testament to the little guy! While he can be quite annoying to some at times, I think overall he brings a lot of humor and entertainment to the school. Staying as long as he has and making as many people laugh as he has, I can't imagine that he was lonely. Especially when it comes to students like Fred and George in the school, who practically worship Peeves. Peeves is a true mischief maker at heart! I think too, as long as he is allowed to continue doing this, he'll always find happiness!

Umm....by life at Hogwarts, do you mean his stay there as a poltergeist, or are you implying that he was alive? Technically (and I don't know where I found it, but if I find it again, I'll post it), Peeves was never "alive," per se (JKR said so). Either way, I think there was nothing Peeves loved more than Hogwarts and terrorizing the students (and I used the word 'terrorizing' very loosely).

I think Peeves was very happy at Hogwarts. Because, come on, if your not happy at Hogwarts, then your a toad. But I also think if he wernt so happy he wouldnt be so michevious. He was always laughing when he did his pranks and they were never hurtful. They were just for fun.

And also if he was lonely at Hogwarts, I dont think he would of been so upbeat all the time. I think he enjoyed his time at Hogwarts.

I have no idea if Peeves was alive or not once (perhaps that should be another discussion at some point) ...but I also read somewhere that JKR said Peeves came with the building - meaning Hogwarts. Was this a punishment or a request I wonder? I would think Peeves finds himself at home at Hogwarts and wanted to stay.

I would think if he's unhappy at Hogwarts, he'd find somewhere else to haunt...erm... I mean prank! I think Hogwarts is home and there's no where else he'd rather be! Think about it... where else can you pick on unsuspecting kids and get away with it!
