Discussion: I think History of Magic will suffice. I wonder what Peeves thinks of Muggles...we could make him do Muggle Studies! OMG! Imagine if he was trying to predict your future! HAHAHAHAH!

Were you disappointed in the lack of a role Peeves played throughout the series in both the books and movie? Was there something more you would have liked to learn about him or see him do? Or perhaps a certain scene you would have really love to see in any of the movies? Tell us about your thoughts!

Discussion: I think he played a big enough part in the books, but I really wish he had at least been in the first movie. There wasn't anything specifically I wanted to know or see, but I just wanted to see more of him.

I would have loved to learn more about Peeves in the books. I know JK said he came with the school and that he has always been a poltergeist...but how is that? What did he do before Hogwarts? So many questions I need to know!

As for the movies...I'd love to see what Peeves looks like.
I'd love to have seen him taunt Harry in COS singing
"'Oh Potter, you rotter, oh what have you done?
You're killing off students, you think it's good fun"

or Perhaps Lupin shooting the gum up Peeves nose in POA, or even Peeves throwing water bombs at the second year girls in GOF! So many great scenes to choose from! I wonder if he'll make any appearances any time soon in the new films? Most likely not, but we can hope, can't we?

Discussion:
The books:
Yes, I really would like to have learnt more about him. I mean, so many authors have so many definitions and ideas concerning such beings, that we don't really know what a poltergeist is in JKR's eyes.

It's like dragons, really. I read a range of books about dragons: each completley different! Some actually give theories that prove dragons are real (so the story is more realistic and makes sense without flaws) because they're really significant to clay, so when they die... blah blah blah... thus, no one's ever found a skeleton! And then there will be a book that says the complete opposite.

So how about we try and figure out the definition of a poltergeist in JKR's eyes, so we can discover more about Peeves?!

The movies:
I couldn't agree more! Even if it was only a very short thing (like an introduction to a scene) then I would be over-joyed! I feel that Peeves is one of the greatest charries (thus me being in the FC, lol), so why isn't he in the movies?! If only JKR made him just a little more significant to the plot... then the movie guys would have to put him in, no?

Game: Traps!

I agree that Peeves had a great role in the book. I was sad that he was barely in the movies. I really loved the parts Peeves had in the book, so I was disappointed when it wasn't portrayed in the movies.

I think the movies were so rushed and they tried to take out every bit that wasn't important to the plot. However I loved Peeves light humour, and I think it was very important. My only theory is that the producers didn't.

I really do wish he is in the new movies *fingers crossed*

Discussion:
I would have loved to see Peeves used for more comedy relief now and again throughout the series. You can never have too much comedy relief, or mischief for that manner.

Speaking of mischief..another scene I was disappointed in not seeing in the movies was when Peeves Peeves chased Umbridge out of the castle, whacking her with a cane and a sock full of chalk. That would have been awesome to see! I loved the little guy when I read that in the books!

Discussion: Yeah. I agree. Peeves could have been used very well as comic relief rather than some of those really cheesy one-liners in the movies. I really wish he had at least been in the first movie. I hope they have him singing in the 7th movie. They at least owe him that.

As for as the discussion... would our new activitiy members like to start a new discussion? I'm thinking Poor Peeves roles in the books and movies are not too exciting. I guess we just don't see enough of our favorite little guy to get too excited over. How sad is that? I have to say ...if I were at Hogwarts...one of the first things I'd want to do is search him out and meet him and see if I could get on his good side so that I could help him with pranks or even have him do pranks on my unsuspecting friends.

And don't forget guys...we can chat with one another! So don't be afraid to do that, we just have to make sure if we do chat that we also stick to games and discussions as we do. That's really important!! It's when we stray from the discussion and games altogether, then we get into trouble. But we're a good group of dedicated Peeves fans here. While we love mischief, I have no doubt we'll all stick to the rules.

Discussion: actually, that's a good point, Kerry. I wonder if Peeves ever used a student or ghost or staff member to help him with his pranks. I can just imagine Dumbledore sneaking around with him planting bugs in candy or something.

Officers: Got it. You know, one thing I really like is that this fan club, despite not having separate threads for each topic, is VERY organized. I'd just like to thank and congratulate everyone on keeping everything so organized!
