Hmmm, I personally don't feel the age for starting to use magic should be lowered. In fact, 17 is still a bit young to be able to go around hexing things.  However, I also feel that there is a point when an older witch or wizard may need to stop. Maybe have yearly tests of their skills and mental abilities to see if they can still properly and safely use magic. I understand that it would be very useful to an older person, but safety must be kept. You wouldn't want some old crazy wizard running around hexing muggles because he didn't know where he was or what he was doing.
And...I totally agree with Caitlin...we need to make sure that we post at least a few lines on the given discussion topic. I know you guys have a lot to say  For the most part, you are doing a great job. Keep it up

Yeah, but if it is a test they would have to be care ful because if the person does not know what there doing then its not there fault and the ministry worker is at risk, but i reckon the idea that if you do enough things wrong you get it taken away, although they wouldnt go down with out a fight because the wont be the most friendly people. | |

OK, guys...what do you think about having a department that would decide when and if you can do magic? Maybe a team that could evaluate underage wizards that would be allowed to do limited magic and watch over the elder population for when they would have to stop?

That sounds like a good idea, let the younger children do very simple spells, let the teens around 15-17 do intermediate spells and so on, just to show that the Ministry trusts everyone. There'll have to be strict guidelines of course. | |
