If you could create a department in the Ministry of Magic, what would it be?

I also think it would be nice to have a student ran department. A place for the students of Hogwarts to see what it's like to work at the Ministry and give leading a try.

I really like that idea of having a student run department in the Ministry, maybe overseen by someone who is 'of age'. But I think that giving students the chance to have their voices heard would be beneficial to both the student body and the Ministry.

As for other possible departments, is there one dealing with muggle relations? I forget if there is, but since students have the option of taking muggle studies when in Hogwarts, it would be nice to have a department devoted to how to improve relations between wizards and muggles. Maybe the department could even educate the muggles on the wizarding community, so there wouldn't be the need for secrecy.

I have some ideas for other departments, but I will let others answer first

Great response, Jess. I know my charrie would love to work in a department run by students. She would work hard to set up a youth quidditch world cup. One where the winning team of each school could compete for an overall champion.

I wonder if we could set up an unofficial Ministry of Magic type club/department in the school this term. Could be fun. Meet in hallways and empty classrooms. A way to promote the MoMFC in the RPG school.

I think that Minerva would make a great Minister of Magic. She is very strict, but fair and she would make sure thing were done correctly. She is also very accepting of others and wouldn't single out any one group or treat others differently.

I have to agree with Minerva, she's a perfect choice for the job. She tough but fair, smart and very strict. She'd make sure nothing ever happened to the Ministry and would make sure strict actions were taken if anything did.

I agree that Dumbledore might be too old for the job. He even said to Harry once "Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young...and I seem to have forgotten lately."
Minerva would be good for the job, but I'm thinking of someone who is a little younger than Minerva. What about Severus Snape? He's great at Occulmency and Legilemency... very smart and resourceful, yet somewhat sly, but rather ambitious too. Somehow I could just see Snape as Minister more than Minerva.... I see Minerva more as just wanting to deal with the school, not the whole wizarding community of Britain.

Snape...I'll have to think about that one. A very interesting choice. Now, I have always believed Snape to have a good heart, but do you think he would be able to run the Ministry with the way a lot of people feel about him. He is very smart and would focus on the task at hand...I'm just not sure.

Hermione could be a good chioce. In my opinion, I think she would be better at running an individual department rather than the entire Ministry. I'm not exactly sure why...maybe because she tends to over think things. She may not be able to make the best split second decision if it came down to it. It makes me think about all the times she told Harry not to do something or to give up on trying to find something, when it was something that really did need to be done.

Hmmm.... what about Arthur Weasley as Minister of Magic. Strange pick I know, but honestly as eccentric as he is, he is actually very intelligent and always has the best interests of the wizarding world at heart. He'd definitely put an interesting spin on things as minister. I'd be interested in seeing the changes he'd make to the ministry. What do you think?
