I think that it needs changing. I think that the stance that Cornelius Fudge took upon hearing about Voldemort's return was ridiculous. It's a good thing he's out of office. I certainly can't stand Umbridge. She should be sacked.

The Ministry shouldn't have interfered with Dumbledore and I think that the politics there are terrible. Gold is not what matters. Lucius Malfoy is a Death Eater and he gives gold... thus he had a lot of people in his pocket.

It's good to have government, but not one that can be so easily corrupt.



* If you became Minister/Mistress of Magic what would be the first thing that you do?

As Ministress of Magic, I would bring about many changes. Changes in staff and politics. I would certainly tighten security if Voldemort were once again at large. I would have a team of people regularly checking up with Veritaserum that no one was being controlled or intentionally infiltrating the Ministry. The questions would all be fair and only revolve around such matters as Voldemort. There would be no further questioning that would hinder the person's right to privacy.

I'd also help Hogwarts rebuild or help with the security there. I would also make sure to add a secret department that would help build safe havens for people who fear Voldemort may attack them and the like.

Also, I would not keep Dementors gaurding Azkaban. Whether Voldemort were at large or not... I would get rid of them as quick as possible. Instead of Dementors I would station wizards, who would be watched, lest they turn out to be just as lowly as some of the prisoners... We can't have them mistreating people just because they weren't nice now.

I'd have to think of some of the other re-forms I'd put in place....

Oh, I would love to be an Auror... but I s'posse if not one of those... then I'd be an Unspeakable. The Department of Mysteries is fascinating.

This is a good point, however I feel that Veritaserum should only be used if it is vital. I think it takes away peoples freddom almost. SUre, if it will save someone then use it but for other things it is their right not too tell.

That's what I meant. I don't know if I worded it right. I was saying that it would only be used in the event that Voldemort had returned and the questioning would be closely monitored so that it wasn't infringing on people's right's to privacy. In other words, the questions couldn't be....

'What are you doing tonight?' or 'Who do you like?' just to say something trivial...

And they surely couldn't be.... 'How much do you get paid?' 'What's the number on your vault?' 'Where do you keep your key?'

Things of that nature.

The questions would be limited to simple, 'Are you working for Voldemort?' 'Have you ever worked for him?' 'Are you being controlled by Voldemort?'

If they say yes, then there would be further questioning.

Mamu, (I'm abrievating, yesh, ) I'm glad you like my ideas. I still need to think more on that question though... there are so many possibilites you know. I've never really thought about politics much in the sense of... if I were in charge... but I've got lots of ideas! And I can't wait to see what your ideas are!

I recently was sorted for the Ministry RP so I guess it is still open... I am part of the Transportation depatrment, Broomtick regulations accually.

When I think of the Ministry I never think of politics, They don't seem to have any of that boring stuff. What do you guys think?

Of course there are boring aspects to it. And it's a whole lot of politics. That's why Fudge was able to keep Harry and Dumbledore's reputations so muddled. That's why he was able to keep the truth from coming out...

In most any government there are a lot of politics. Politics with a capital 'P', indeed.

German Minister's daughter ran off with the French Minister's son.... it's caused a huge uproar. All sorts of trade-trafficing issues now....

yeah i read deathly hollows and the statues in the ministry are really oppressive. also opening up the department to check your blood status is quite freaky
