I reckon that Draco is just like any other teenage kid. At times, he wildly respects his father for all that he does - I mean, he's wealthy, and what kid doesn't want their father to be well off and respected? At the same time, when his father was in Azkaban for not following orders, he might have felt somewhat ashamed of his father. This well respected man, who has connections high up in the ministry lands himself in Azkaban for not following orders; I think that's a reason to be ashamed. | |

I agree with ya, Jess. I bet he was really ashamed when Lucius ended up in Azkaban. I bet he wondered why his father couldn't just pull some strings and get out of it. Lucius had always seemed in control and then he completely lost it.
I also think that Draco was never really taught respect. All he saw was his father ordering people around and making his own rules. At least until Voldie came back. Then Lucius lost the power he had, or should I say appeared to have. | |

I think that Draco does have some typ eof respect for his father, because in his eyes, especially in his earlier eyes years, his father was an important aspect in his life, and he was extremely influential. Draco is proud to be a Malfoy, no doubt about that, but I don't think money was as important to Draco as boasting about it was. But ...*loses train of thought due to incoming text* I think Draco also saw his father as his scapegoat, and saw his 'power' to be beneficial to him socially, in and out of school. As Draco got older, I think he started to view his father differently, because of the stuff going on with Death Eaters and Voldemort, and Draco saw that it wasn't all so glorious, and his opinion changed. In what way, I can't exactly place. But I don't believe he ever lost his love for his father, his views simply changed AND MATURED.
Oh- and I really didn't read anyone else's opinions ahead of mine, so if this gets edited it's cause I just finished reading someone else's and agree or disagree with what they've said ... erm .. yeah.
