Hello everyone!!

Welcome the Lucius FC! Sorry it took so long for me to join; I was away in NC since Tuesday and have not been online much. The next two days might also be a bit chaotic for me as I am moving and settling back into campus.

Anyway, yes we could do a Death Eater Elimination game. We could also have a discussion going about Lucius and his role in Book 7 (since I finally finished it and know what's going on)
I will be thinking up an officer questionnaire within the next 1-2 days, so keep your eyes peeled!

Lucius and his role in Book 7

Hmmmm...there really is a lot to say. He wanted to be Voldemort's best DE, his "right" hand....but after the MoM and after his wand, I believe that wasn't possible. Maybe in the end of book 7, he didn't want to be DE anymore. He and Narcissa really showed their love for Draco and I really liked that. They showed they have feelings, right.

Anyway, I always loved him in HP. He is a great character.

I think after the mom he really say the true colours of what being a de was about. So after coming out of azkaban he really didnt want to put the malfoy family in danger again. Meaning he was proberly (sp?) just a bit angry to find that voldermort wanted to use his home at head quarters.

Lucius and his role in Book 7

I loved to see him be given a different pathway, as a character. I've always liked Lucius in the books [not to mention the movies XD], but it seemed he was rather static, in a way. Not that the rich, powerful, slippery Voldie friend wasn't appealing in itself.

But DH showed us a much more human Lucius. I used to think he only cared about the Malfoy status, but it appears he did care about his son, and plenty. Which gives him some redeeming qualities, definitely. And while Narcissa was the real Malfoy revelation in DH, I think Lucius played his part well, too

Discussion #1: Lucius in Deathly Hallows
(we should keep it going during the game)

I don't think that Malfoy was angry to have Voldemort use his house. He was probably angry with himself for his failures in the MoM, and then being sent to Azkaban. Felt like he was a disappointment as a DE - first not watching the diary, and second he failed to get the prophecy. then he lands himself in Azkaban, and Voldemort used his son as revenge. He probably is seeing a bit of how bad the DEs could be, but he also cares about his family and wants to protect them. Therefore, he tells Voldemort that he could use his house as headquarters as a means of "making it up".

I think he was far from willing to hand out his Manor for Headquarters. I tend to think he didn't really 'offer' it to Voldemort, even Voldie himself mentions how the Malfoys seemed unhappy or bothered to have the DE's there.

I am sure that Lucius was a bit frightened to have Voldie and the other DEs in his house. But I think that he was more scared for what his fate lay if he didn't let Voldie use his house. It seems clear in my mind that all Lucius wanted in book 7 was to save himself and his family, doing whatever it took to keep alive. If this meant having Voldie in his mansion, then he'd do it, just so long as no more harm comes to his family.

Something else I'm wondering about is Lucius as a grandfather in the epilogue

i totally luved lucius's role in the last book i thought it was a well written role and i agree with whoever said that lucius was scared of voldemort cause i think he was

I feel that Lucius finally came to his senses and realized that his family was the most important thing and that the whole business with Voldemort was just spiralling out of control. He finaly said enough is enough.

I agree with you guys. I for one was pleasantly surprised to see that Lucius actually cared for his son.

And Lucius as grandpa... that's a weird image. Wonder if his hair was receding, too, like Draco's. That would have been a shame *pets the hair*

I really liked how he turned out in DH. He really seemed to care about his son and it also showed how scared he really was. Our first few times to see him he sees all in control, but he really isn't.
