I'm sorry guys, I was working, and I barely had time to do anything else at all. But, I'm here now =D

Maya, what you said makes a lot of sense. Ab knew what he wanted to do and did it, always what he thought was the right thing (it usually always was!), even if he had to break some rules to do it. He knew it was the right thing to take care of Ariana. The thing with Albus and Grindelwald had gotten so far out of hand that he had to finally interfere. It was the right thing by his thinking. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't interfered? Things might have been a lot different.

So, yeeeah =D
I think things would change a LOT, if Aberforth would interfer. Albus would definately go with Grindelwald to the end, and he wouldn't become a powerful GOOD wizard as he was. And, maybe he would even end up working with Voldemort, which would be terrible. So, I'm glad Aberforth did interfer. =D

I think he wasn't an "offical" member. He helped and worked for them, when they needed help. Maybe..to use that secret passage, or maybe he helped them with DEs. Maybe, he didn't want Dumbledore to know, or maybe he did, but they didn't get along well. He looked a lot like Albus, so they might used him to switch him with him. LOL...that is a little unbelievable, but still

I agree with Aberforth not being an 'official' member of the order. Because he would have been busy running the Hogs Head, he probably couldn't get away to travel to london all the time for Order meetings and such so he probably stayed on the outer of the Order. That being said, he could have been their representative watching the goings-on in Hogsmeade and have been in regular contact with the order.

As for the discussion, I don't think Aberforth was officially a member of the Order either. I'm pretty sure he helped when he could because he knew in his heart that it was what he needed to do. He didn't officially join up mainly because of two reasons, I think that he was busy at the Hogs Head, that being a full-time around the clock kind of job. Plus, I still think that there was tension between Albus and Aberforth at the time, and Aberforth couldn't handle working such a dangerous job w/ him at the time.

Yeah, I agree with the rest of you, I don't think he was an official member of the OOTP, either, mainly because of the conflicts and problems with his brother. But he was always there to do his part, and really came through when the time was right!
