There's a character dictionary, you can type hanyu pinyin to get the chinese character (useful if you don't have a program to type Chinese characters). There's a simple search for beginners, a word dictionary and you can learn simple Cantonese phrases too! You can translate whole sentences into Chinese/English here!

Add Pinyin to webpages!
Add pinyin to any Chinese web page! This will help those who don't know a particular Chinese character(s).

Then which dialect would you like to learn? Manda rin or Cantonese? Basically, I’m somewhat fluent in Mandarin, about 70-80% percent of the time. Lit erally though, I am only literate to about a littl e less than half to half of the words (I’m still l earning them though!) However, I’m not much of pi nyin user-I’d like to have some practice with that ! I’m more familiar to the phoenetic-system, but once in a while, I tend to get confused with some of the phoenetic sounds.XD

My Chinese name is 魏 運 婷. In pinyin, it's pronounced: Wei Yuen (or Yun, but I like the first one better) Ting. Heh, I'm just looking at the guide at the back of my blue chinese vocabulary book.

Please don't chat in this thread. You have to set the options at the bottom to view threads from the beginning or so (maybe just the last year), but there are threads for introducing yourself and chatting. This isn't one of them.

Anyway, I wanted to suggest something. It's called NJStar. It's a Chinese word processor, but you can copy and paste anything you see in Chinese and if you hover your mouse over the characters, it'll tell you what they mean. Works better than any dictionary, if you ask me. It also uses input by radical look-up, or pinyin. Copy-and-pasting into something, I believe, is in unicode format which means that others don't have to switch to Big5 or some other format in order to read it, so long as they have Chinese support installed.

Chinese Software, Japanese Software & Korean Software by NJStar 南极星

They've also got other programs made for English-language computers in order to write or browse in Chinese, as well as Japanese and Korean. I don't know about the rest, but the word processors at least have free versions that are fully functional, they just don't have spiffy fonts or anything.

EDIT: Just checked, they have a free browser and the others are 30-day trials (supposedly ^^; ) But they do have lots of things to help learn and write Chinese, as well as the other languages.
