It was a cool August morning, and a young witch by the name of Leanne Contour sat on the small porch of her family's summer cottage on the outskirts of London; she was fiddling with a twig, imagining sparks flying from it. She knew perfectly well that she would not get her wand till the 31st, but it was fun to pretend. Her eyes strayed to a fallen green leaf. She took it and in enclosing her hands upon the leaf, it turned a shade of brown associated with fall leaves. She giggled and threw it aside.

She enjoyed doing magic at the cottage, but her heart yearned for September the 1st;for school to start. This is strange for almost any other girl, but Leanne wanted the vacation to end; for she would be attending her 1st year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unlike her older brother Xavier, who was in his 3rd year.

He had described Hogwarts as a magical palace, with secret common rooms for the 4 Houses: Gryffindor-Xavier's a Gryffindor-,Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin.

" 'Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart!' ",he would recite, holding up a fake sword. "Everyone in our family's been in Gryffindor House. Knowing you, you're sure to be a Gryffindor!"

But Leanne wasn't so sure, even though she was confident she wouldn't be a Slytherin, who her brother says are no good. But she didn't want to ruin the family line of Gryffindors. Then a horrible thought came to her: What if she wasn't Chosen? What if there had been a mistake? She shook it off. "That's not right," she thought, "I'm full of magic!"

Even though she knew she was a witch, doubts still clogged her mind when she went to bed on the 31st of August, with her new wand-8 inches, yew, and unicorn tail- and her school trunk at the foot of the bed. She dreamt of a glorious castle she had thought must be Hogwarts, and the secrets that await her arrival the following morning inside.

She awoke early the next morning, too excited to go back to sleep. She was halfway down the stairs when she remembered something. She ran back up and stashed her wand in her skirt pocket.
Leanne was almost finished with breakfast when her father cam down the steps with her school trunk in tow. "Thanks, Daddy." He came to sit with her at the table. "Xavier told me that you're scared of not being Sorted into Gryffindor",Leanne thought of all the things she wanted to do with her wand on her brother,"but we won't disherit you. I'm sure you'll be in Gryffindor, but if you're not,the House that you do go into will have earned a great student." She hugged her father and tried to beleive what he said, but she was still worried.
She, her father, mother, and brother climbed into the car and drove to King's Cross in London. She read from her ticket. "Platform 9 3/4." She looked between the platforms. The only thing that was there was a stone barrier. "There must have been a mistake, Mum",she told her mother. "No, watch Xavier",she said. He took his trunk and ran into the barrier. Straight into stone wall. "XAVIER!", Leanne shouted. "It's okay. That's how you get onto the platform",said her father. Leanne turned pink from embaressment. Why did she shout at a crowded station? She let her father her hand as they ran towards the platform with her trunk . She winced but no pain came. Instead she found a platform with a big plastic sign over head:'Platform 9 3/4'
She found her brother beside a huge scarlet steam engine that read:'Hogwarts Express' Her heart dropped. She had expected something more magical, like broomsticks.But still, she was going to Hogwarts!

Awesome! Can't wait for more!

She was about to board the train when her parents took her arm. "Huh?",she inquired. "Here, to show our support in you",said her father. He took out a cage from behind him. Inside the cage, was a beautiful night-black owl. "Wha-owl-mine-thanks!", she stammered. "Her name's Merriweather",her mother said, as Leanne engulfed her in her father with hugs. "She's beautiful! I'll write to you everyday!",she exclaimed. She climbed into an empty carriage on the train, set her trunk on the rack, and leaned out the window. She waved last goodbyes as the now-moving train rounded a corner, and her parents were gone.
Leanne left her carriage and romed the halls, searching for Xavier. She found him sitting with a bunch of rowdy third-year boys. She remembered her wand in her skirt, and pointed it at him through the doorway. She then remembered a spell she read in A Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1) by Miranda Goshawk, and set blue fire to Xavier's pants. Leanne ran down the corridor saying, "That's for telling Dad!" She heard a distant "Aguamenti" and swears coming from her brother.
She found her carraige housing a first-year girl with straight dark brown hair, not unlike her own, with big blue eyes, different than Leanne's light-brown ones. "Hello, I'm Jennifer Damitri", she said cheerfully. "Mind if I sit here?"
"Leanne Contour. Not at all, I could use some company", said Leanne sitting down. It was not untill now did she see the snow-white cat in a basket by Jennifer's side. Merriweather hooted disdaintfully and looked away.
"First year too, then?",asked Jennifer.
"Yup",said "That was pretty good wand work for first-years."
"What?"
"That jinx you set on your brother. It was brilliant."
"Er,thanks."

Noon arrived and so did the lunch trolley. Leanne and Jennifer ate everything on it. After lunch, they played Exploding Snap with a pack Jennifer brought. Night fell, and everyone was looking out of the windows. Leanne looked to see what the buzz was all about. Her eyes fell over a giant castle perched on a ledge. She was at Hogwarts.

They followed Hagrid into a dark narrow path. Everyone was to anxious or frightened to speak. At last the path opened up onto the bank of a giant black lake. On the oppisite bank was the castle, sitting in a ledge on a mountain.
"No more'n four to a boat!", called Hagrid, leading them to a fleet of small boats. Leanne and a Jen sat in a boat along with a girl with black pigtails and a nervous wreck of boy. Hagrid took a boat to himself. It was just then when Leanne remembered she left Meriweather and her trunk on the platform. She was just about to panic when she saw them flying overhead towards the castle. There was a loud "Ooooh" from the students.

The boats glided across the lake making barely a ripple in the dark water. They were nearing the cliff face when Hagrid yelled,"WATCH YER HEADS!" , and they bowed their heads as the they sailed through a curtain of ivy, leading them down a dark passageway that ended in what seemed like an underground harbor. Leanne took Jen's arm as they climbed out of the boat onto rocks and stones.
Hagrid sheperded the first years up a steep trail. After the climb they, at last, touch damp grass. They walked up a flight of marble steps leading to giant oak doors. Hagrid raised a fist and knocked on the doors 3 times.
The doors flew open at once, revealing a tall, elderly witch with a stern gaze.
"I've got the firs' years, Professor McGonagal."
"Thank you, Hagrid. Your services are no longer needed."
The doors opened onto a gigantic entrance hall, with a huge marble staircase. Leanne suddenly felt small and intimidated. 'Gryffindor,Gryffindor, It's got to be Gryffindor!',she thought over and over again.
Proffesor McGonnagal spoke, and the first year's attention was drawn towards her.
"The Sorting is an ancient and sacred ceromony here at Hogwarts. You will be Sorted into one of the 4 consecutive Houses:Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Each of the Houses participate in the House Cup. To win, your House must have the largest amuont of points. To earn these points, you must follow rules. The latter loses points. Whatever House you are Sorted into, we expect you to be a credit to them. Please form a line."

Sorry, I'll do the rest today. No time!

Hehe, they got to meet Hagrid. That's awesome. Ooh, now to see where they get placed by the sorting hat.

The nervous first years filed after the headmistress and halted on a stage in a Great Hall. Noticing that hundreds of students were staring up a her from long tables with tapestries draped overhead. Leanne hurriedly tried to make her self presentable,pink in the face. She looked up and down the row looking for Jen, spotting her as scarlet as she was. Xavier was scowling at her from the crowd, and Leanne smiled feebly.
Leanne suddenly noticed a tattered wizard's hat at the front of the stage, and was frightened when it suddenly burst into song: "Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can top them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

The hall sprang into a deafening applause, but the whooping and cheering ceased as McGonagal began to speak, holdind a long scroll of parchment.
"As I call your name, you shall come forward and put on the Sorting Hat, deciding which house you shall reside in your time here at Hogwarts."Leanne recalled that her pig of a brother mentioned battling a dragon, and barely escaping alive.
"Adams,Voilet."
A pretty girl with jet-black hair ran to try on the hat, which fell over her eyes.
"RAVENCLAW!",shouted the hat, causing some of the first years to jump back in surprise. Adams walked towards the Ravenclaw table, greeted with cheers filling the hall.
"Brookes, Jerry."
A short, scared looking boy with straw colored hair tried on the hat, shaking.
"HUFFLEPUFF!", and the boy ran to meet the Hufflepuffs.
"Bruin, Connor."
A boy with straight brown hair came up to the stool.
"GRYFFINDOR!" The boy hurried to the table draped with red and gold with more applause.
"Carrier, Louise" became the next Hufflepuff,and soon the moment Leanne had been dreading will-
"Contour, Leanne."
Leanne hesitated. Would she become a Gryffindor? Jen beckoned her to go on. Leanne walked slowly towards the wooden stool. McGonnagal handed her the patched hat and Leanne put on her head with trembling fingers. Then all she could see was the inside of the worn cap.
"Hmm. Tough one, eh? Well you certainly have brains that's for sure",said a voice,'maybe Ravenclaw is where you'll prosper?No? But I see a strong thirst to prove yourself. Should be GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted the last word for the whole hall to hear. Leanne to off th Sorting Hat with a great sigh of relief, and ran over to the Gryffindor table, her table. Everyone patted her back and shook her hand. Even Xavier congratulated her. Through all the sound at the table, Leanne was surprised that the Sorting had ended and that Jen had just sat next to her. "I t took a whole 3 min. for it to decide for me!",she said.

Hello my faithful viewers! Oh, and by the way you guys can call me Yanny-m'nickname. I'd also like t'know what I could call you guys-it's wierd calling you by your screennames.(I already know to call iluvfob sarah) Prince!Otherwise known as the White Prince.
So, if you guys have been reading, our main character, Leanne, has already been Sorted into Gryffindor house, along with her new friend, Jen, in spite of her wit. So,on with the show!


After eating the feast that had miraculously appeared before her, Leanne stashed some roast chicken in her robes for her owl.Jen saw her and giggled. "That makes Merriweather a cannibal," she laughed. Leanne giggled and switched the chicken for lamb. She handed Jen the chicken for Prince. "Thanks."
Two sixth years rose from the table. The girl had long blond hair and blue eyes. The latter had short black hair and black eyes. Both wore shiny red-and-gold badges that read 'prefect'. The sixth years, who Leanne later learned were named Antoinette Gregor and Vince Orion, led them to thier common rooms.
After several staircases and secret corrridors, Leanne felt on the verge of collapsing. Finally, when it seemed very likely that she would double-over, Leanne and the other Gryffinors found themselves before a very large portrait of a fat lady in lacey pink dress,apparentlysleeping."Gillyweed," Gregor said loudly. The Fat Lady awoke with a start and seemed rather annoyed when she swung open to reveal a large room with red-and-gold tapestries mounted on the cieling.
Their were numerous tables and pouf chairs surrounding a fireplace with a fire burning merrily. "This is the Gryffindoor common room," said Orion. "Girls dormitories are to my left and boys are on the right. Your belongings are waiting for you there."
Leanne decided to go to bed right away to get a good look at the dormitory while it was still empty. Jen accompanied her.
There were four-posters with red curtains for privacy, and everyone got a bedside table. On hers, Merriweather was hooting hungrily. Leanne let her out, and the black owl perched on her shoulder. Leanne rummaged around in her pockets until her fingers came across the meat. She approached the owls beak warily with the food, and Merriweather took it gratefully. She nipped at her ear before taking off out of the window to go foraging.
Leanne remembered how she was supposed to mail her Mum as soon as she got here. She smacked her forehead with her palm angrily. She turned to see Jen feeding Prince.He took off towards his wicker basket and curled up for the night.

Leanne climbed into her bed, which thankfully was by Jen's. As she settled into her quilt embroidered with the Gryffindor emblem, she felt a sharp pain in her hip. She sat up and extracted her miraculously intact wand from her skirt pocket. Feeling foolish that she had both forgotten to put away her wand and change, she drew back her sheets and went over to her bedside drawer and took out her favorite spring green nightgown.
She put her wand on the drawer, embaressed that she almost snapped it in two her 2nd day with it. She went back to bed. Sure that no other sharp objects would stab her in the night, Leanne went to sleep in spite of her anticipation for the classes that would start the next day.

Leanne awoke the following morning and almost screamed. It was still dark out, but she could just make out a pair of amber-gold eyes staring at her from across the bed. She froze, wondering who it was, when it hooted.
Leanne ran to the lamp and put it on. The yellow light fell upon the a black mass in a cage on her bed-side drawer. "Merriweather-?"

"So. You were frightened by your owl?," asked Jen during breakfast in the Great Hall, trying hard to hide her ever-broadening grin. The enchanted ceiling was sunny and almost cloudless.
"Mhmmhmm," said Leanne in between mouthfulls of oatmeal.
"Did you send that letter yet, now that Merriweather's back?"
Leanne almost gagged on her breakfast.
"Oh m'gosh. I forgot. Again."
"Well you can't do it now. It's almost time for first-period Potions with the Slytherins."
They hurried down to the dungeons where the Potions classes were taught.





TADA! I will right more soon. Yes. Very soon indeed. *hehe*

Leanne and Jen hurried down to Potions so as not to be late. They were running down the third corridor when Leanne ran into someone-literally. "Oompff!" she huffed as she fell to the floor, scattering her books everywhere.
She looked up and saw a pale, pointed face with white-blond hair staring down at her in disgust. "Filthy half-blood."
Leanne felt her face redden. She was not used to being called filthy, but it came up once in a while when people discovered that her father is Muggle-born.
"Shutup, you prat," said Jen angrily as she crouched down to help Leanne recover her books.
"My father told me about you, Mudblood. Someday such filth will be removed from these walls." Another Slytherin boy snickered by him.
"So you'll be leaving soon, won't you?" inquired Jen sarcastically.
Leanne and Jen put their backs to them and walked towards the dungeons, as the Slytherins scowled and gaped at them in disbelief.

They took a seat at the back of the class, with a boy with sandy brown hair , light brown eyes, and several freckles. "Aadon McAllister," he said holding out his hand. The girls introduced themselves, and sat waiting for class to start.
A somewhat portly man appeared in the dungeon doorway.
