HALLO! This is my first FanFiction so be easy if it starts to waver.
It's Severus Snape's school-days story. It seemed no-one had done one, so I took the challenge.

Severus walked along the long platform where the Hogwarts express was waiting. His heart was thumping as much as the trunk behind him was. Rough hands relieved him of one of his heavy burdens and helped him into the train.

Nervously he walked along the corridor that stretched throughout the train. Almost all the compartments had people in. He didn't want to join anyone, but he didn't want to be alone for the entire journey.
"Hi!" A female voice called out. Severus didn't turn, she was probably calling out to one of her friends.
"You with the black hair!" The voice called.
Severus turned slowly, expecting the worst. He got allot better.
He found himself facing a young girl who looked about his age. Hair like flame and smiling green eyes.
"You looked like you were about to sit on your own!" Severus didn't say anything, she was probably going to mock him, but he couldn't believe that anyone this sweet looking could do such a thing.

"Come sit by me, I was going to be alone as well." She smiled.
Severus attempted a smile back again, but in vain.
He followed her, quite zombie like, into a spare compartment.
"Is this your first year?" She asked, happily as ever.
"Yes, are you new too?" He asked, sensing the hope in his voice.
She nodded.
"I'm Lilly Evans."
"Severus Snape."
"Gosh, your name sounds so much more magical than mine."
He smiled, and she, catching on, got the giggles, and before long they were both laughing.

Severus couldn't remember a time when he was happier than in those few hours on the train. They'd talked about everything and then had a laugh at the chocolate frogs.
Please let us be in the same house, He begged as they were taken up to Hogwarts. It would help me, oh please Merlin.

They entered the main hall, almost all eyes were on them, he felt Lilly grow tense beside him. Another thing she'd told him.
"I get quite nervy sometimes, but it's alright if I have friends around me."
Now was probably not the best time to become nervous, Severus thought to himself.
He looked up to the front of the hall. A tattered old hat sat on a stool. As they neared it began to sing.

A new generation enters these walls,
The new year has just begun,
But not to worry for it is safe
After a battle here fought was won.
Unity came long ago
And now it seems to last
Division still exists
But for the most part it’s in the past
And now I’m to separate you
For tradition makes it so

Now thats just weird, he thought. A singing hat. He looked over to Lilly, but she was whispering to a boy with black hair and glasses. Severus felt something inside of him lurch, but it died as soon as she looked back at him and smiled.
The names began to be called.

"Black, Sirius!"
A handsome young boy went up proudly to the hat. It muttered a few things that Severus missed and then called out.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
A cheer went up from the table on their left, and Sirius strutted down to take his place at the table.

"Weasly, Arthur!"
Arthur was sorted straight into Gryffindor, as was a rather plump boy called Peter Pettigrew and a lonely boy called Remus Lupin.
"Evans, Lilly!" Severus flinched, Please Merlin.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
The cheer went up again from the Gryffindors, and Severus was silently begging for a place in that very house.

"Snape, Severus!"
Severus walked slowly up to the hat.
"Ah! A Snape! Well you wont be hard..."
"Gryffindor, Gryffindor, please Gryffindor."
"SLYTHERIN!" Severus hardly heard the cheer that went up from the Slytherin table. Why not Gryffindor? He caught Lilly's eye and looked sharply away to the table he was headed for.

ooohh. I can't wait to read more of this!

Severus had felt heavy all that evening, nothing seemed to be going his way. First Lilly and he had be separated, and then he'd received... 'Friendship' from a Lucius Malfoy who'd been sorted that very year as-well. The food had been like ash in his mouth as he watched Lilly from where he sat. She'd seemed to fit right into the Gryffindor house, he felt as if he didn't even fit into Slytherin.
He knew that his father had been a Slytherin, but all the same, he would have preferred to break the Snape tradition.

As he occupied a bed by the window in his new dorm, he sighed. The Slytherin common room was full of kids, boasting about their pure-blood lines, and then someone had asked him about his heritage. He had moved faster than he ever had in his life.
Slowly he unclipped his trunk with numb fingers. His mind was still full of Lilly Evans, he had caught a look that she'd given James Potter, it wasn't too dissimilar to the one she'd given him when they'd enjoyed the train journey together. He sighed again.

"Oi! Snape!"
Severus turned around to see Lucius flanked by two other boys, both who were both a tad on the large side.
"Yes, Lucius?" He asked, slightly irritably.
Lucius moved further into the dorm.
"Don't take that tone with me Snape, I'll keep your filthy blood a secret if you make my bed."
Severus glared at Malfoy, then turned and took out Lucius' bed-sheets and began to make his bed.


I know it's a tad on the short side, but I'll be adding more soon!!

It's another short one, but I've decided that I'm going to do lots of shorts ones, instead of a little amount of long ones.

Not a day went by that Severus didn't see her. With her hair like flame and smile that came as quickly as a lightning bolt, but was as soft as sheep's wool.
But always, always, there was a separation between, and it had... Three names. Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and James Potter.

Potions:
"Hey, Sirius, he's doing it again."
Sirius looked across to Severus, who was helping Lilly with her potion. It had been total luck that he'd been able to do this. She'd been struggling, and she'd asked their teacher if Severus could help.
"Snape!" A piece of screwed up paper hit him in the back of the head. Lilly glared over at the two boys who were congratulating Sirius on his aim.
"James! Don't encourage him!" She hissed across to them.
James stuck his tongue out at her and copped it with a cheeky smile.
Lilly sighed and gave Severus an apologetic smile. He grimly smiled back at her, not wanting to worry her.

Defense Against Dark Arts:
"Expeliarmus!" Snape flew across the room and crashed into the wall behind him.
"Remus!" Slughorn stormed over to the lithe boy with amber eyes. "I told you not to use that on poor Severus!"
A whisper of 'Poor Severus' went mockingly around Remus Lupin's circle of friends.
Severus picked himself up shamefully and Slughorn brushed his robes off for him.
"I'm OK professor." He muttered as the DADA teacher fussed about him.
Sirius, who had obviously been trying to contain his laughter let out a strangled noise, earning him a glare from Severus and a hiss from Lilly.

This is really good right now... Poor Snape though. He doesn't deserve to be treated like that by Lucius *kicks Lucius in the nuts*

I like it is differnt but i like it alot

Hello to my new readers - voldemort&88, Lua3Fox, Sabrina_Snape, and Dracos_Lady.
I've done a bit of a jump to Sev's second year... The beginning bit is a bit from his diary.


...I just feel so lonely. Like I only have one friend, and she's slipping away faster than I can hold her. If only that stupid hat could have put us in the same house, but as she says, I probably wouldn't have fitted as a Gryffindor, but I don't feel as if I fit in Slytherin either. Lucius lent me this green ink, says that its the best color. I think sometimes that he really does need to get a life, but the time when I told him that to his face, he almost told a sixth year about my blood heritage. I feel as if I'm standing on a knife-point, and if I go the wrong way, my life could be lost.


Severus never thought that his life could be so emotionally divided. He got off the train, feeling a little the same as he did last year in this situation, apart from this time, he had been confined to the Slytherins, and not even given space to think about the one he would have preferred to sit with... Oh no, but she was probably having the time of her life with James and Sirius and the rest with their stupid nicknames, not allowing her thoughts to stray his way, she probably thought that he was getting on well in his house. He almost burst into tears as he thought of her. At the first sign of tears forming at the corner of his eyes, he stood up and declared he needed to toilet.
He hated the was Lucius watched him go. He would probably be telling the two girls, Bellatrix and Narcissa Black, that little Sevvy was off to blub about losing his dear little mudblood friend. Severus' fists clenched at the thought of the two pretty girls laughing at Lucius' joke, and then making him the butt of it when he returned.
He slid open the window at the end of the train, as far away from Lucius' jeering as he could get.

"Sev!" An excited cry broke through his thoughts.
He turned, already knowing who it was, he'd recognize that voice if it was whispered across a crowded train.
"Lilly." He replied, equally thrilled to see her.
She hugged him quickly, making his cheeks burn.
"Whats with your sad eyes?" She asked, now looking concerned.
"Oh..." he couldn't tell her that he'd been about to burst into tears about her and Lucius and life.
"I, Uh, got some grit in my eyes." He mumbled.
"GRIT?" A haughty voice cut over their reunion.
James Potter was striding down the corridor, Lilly moved between them.
"James, I thought you were going to stay in the compartment?" Lilly glared at the taller boy.
"I got bored, you alright, Snivillus?"
"My name is Severus." Snape growled, feeling the anger surge through his body.
"Yes, thats what I said, Snivillus."
Severus would have lunged at James, if it hadn't have been for Lilly.
"I'm going back to my compartment, I'll see you in class Lilly."
"Y..yes.." She stammered.
And with a final glower at Potter, he headed back.

I agree with Voldemort. It's sad that Snape's upset but James is just to lovable to hate... Lucius on the other hand needs to be slapped.

Question, Snape's a pureblood isn't he or is he a halfblood?

Snape's a half-blood, he's the "Half-Blood Prince" Duh...

I may add Lucius being slapped, or just make him Snape's Slytherin tormentor.

Sorry its so short. I've got LOADS of homework to be doing over the holidays.

Severus staggered off of the train with the rest of the pupils. His mind was still alive with the thoughts of her and their meeting. And, why, oh, why merlin did that arrogant idiot James Potter have to get involved? One day, he would like to tell James to just 'shove off!' And he then imagined Potter's shocked face at little Severus 'Snivillus' Snape fighting back and not staying quiet. Then, no, it wasn't him. His fantasy was lost in a second of deeper thought.

As he got onto the boat that would take him across to the school, he caught his robes on the jagged piece of wood on the corner of it. Narcissa Black sniggered cruelly and he received a equally contemptuous look from Lucius.
"Oh leave him alone, Cissy." Bellatrix's voice cut across the silent war they were fighting.
"He's probably just tired from the train journey. Like all of us." She said, pushing some of her fine black hair behind her shoulders.
Severus made a mental note to save Bella some food when she got detention next. Which would probably be in the next week.

As they sat at the Slytherin table, listening to the headmasters speech, Severus thought of why Bella had done that. Earlier on the train she had been accusing him of having mudblood friends.

It wasn't just that that was bothering him, it was Lilly's look of admiration towards James, even when he was insulting him. She couldn't possibly fall for someone like that.... Could she?

Ah ha! Someone was reading as I was typing!! LOLZ!
I have ebil AS levels coming up.... *Bites them* I wish I didn't so, I'm going to write more.

Severus was lying down by the lake. He loved cool summer evenings that never seemed to end. All the couples were filing out, he didn't care though, he was happy on his own... With the exception of a book... His rough calloused fingers turned yet another page of the muggle novel he was reading. No matter what Lucius and Narcissa said, the muggles had done loads of amazing things. Just, he wished they would get over their prejudices and see that.

"Sev!"
He looked up. Although he knew who it was, only one person called him Sev, he really didn't want to see her. His book had got to a awesome part and he didn't really want to put it down.
"Hows the book?" Lilly asked, whilst panting. So she'd run to see him, did he look as if he was going far?
Severus mumbled something incoherent.
"Sorry, I didn't quite catch that, what did you say?"
"I said." He snapped, "It would be allot better if I could read it in peace."
Lilly looked taken aback and Severus realized what a stupid thing he'd done.
"Look...Lilly... I didn't mean it like that." He pleaded with her.
She looked down at her feet, and Severus saw a fragile twelve year old standing before him, who had just been growled at by one of her best friends.
"Its ok Sev, I could leave if you want me to."
"No!" He said, a bit too suddenly.
"Do you want me to stay Sev?" Lilly bit her lip as she looked at him.
"I..." Severus thought for a moment.
"I'm not cross with you, Lilly, I'm just really enjoying this book. You can stay if you want, but I probably wont really talk."
A smile creased around Lilly's pretty features.
"OK." She said happily. "I like just being around you. Your not as loud as James and the others."
He forced a smile. Not as loud and not as confident.
Lilly settled herself down next to him, and before long, she was reading the book over his shoulder.

"That was really fun, thanks for letting me stay Sev." Lilly gushed as they walked up the winding path to the castle.
"Anytime." He said quietly. He had enjoyed it much more than he was letting on. She'd laughed out loud at certain parts and always never commented on what was going on around them.
"Well. Goodnight Sev." She said, and reached up to hug him quickly, and she was gone.

Severus almost fell over.
He walked back to the Slytherin common room, feeling quite warm and happy inside.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SNAPE?" A loud deep voice broke through his thoughts.
"I was out reading, Lucy." He taunted.
Lucius looked as if his eyes were going to burst out of their sockets. His face was all red and his mouth taught. He looked so funny that Severus wanted to laugh, when it would have been better to cry.
"Lucy." A giggle came from the corner. "Thats great Severus, when did you come up with that?"
"Oh, while I was reading Bella, goodnight."

YAY!!! :bows: Lucius got served!!! well done Snape.

What is happening between Bella and Severus? Will look forward to reading more very soon hopefully.

Don't worry Sebastian, I have GCSEs starting in two weeks, so I am also hating exams at the moment.

Studying is done for today!!

YAY! I can get on with my FF.. *Cries* I want to RP tho..
Oh, btw, when ever I say walked into something I crack up laughing, so I'm sorry if theres a few spelling mistakes.

Severus padded quietly across the long hall to the Charms classroom. He had been trying to avoid Lucius after he'd called him, Lucy.
He quickly smoothed down his sticky up hair and, taking a deep breath, he walked into the classroom.
Almost all eyes turned to look at him as he entered.
"So, you decided to join us Mr Snape?" The voice of his teacher cut across the now silent room.
"Sorry, someone had stolen my Charms homework and hidden it on the top of my wardrobe." He muttered with a furious look towards the smug Lucius.
"Well," the Charms teacher paused to justify the situation in her mind.
"I suppose thats a plausible answer. Please bring your homework up here."
As Severus passed the 'Marauders' he heard a, "watch this." From Sirius Black.
With shaking hands he passed the book up to his teacher, turned and began the seemingly long walk back to his seat. As he passed the 'Marauders' Lilly gave him a smile, and he, not looking where he was going, tripped over the foot of Sirius Black.
The whole classroom erupted into laughter.
"Watch where your going, Snivillus." Sirius taunted.
"Sirius, that was uncalled for." A small voice behind him said.
At once the laughter ceased.
"And what are you going to do about it... Moony?"
Remus Lupin stirred uncomfortably in his seat,
"Just not in class Sirius." He said in a tiny voice.
At that moment, Severus hated Remus Lupin.
"Just not in class Sirius." What a knight in shining amour he turned out to be. Afraid of the Black boy, pah!
He picked himself up with no less dignity than he walked up with, and scurried to sit back down again.

"I'm so sorry, Sev!" Lilly pleaded with him as he stormed out of the classroom, three times, in that last forty five minutes Sirius Black had brought him down to being nothing but another stupid Slytherin.
"Lilly, I don't see why your apologizing." He sighed back at her as he walked, "It's Black that needs to be sorry."
"Hey! Evans, you coming or not?" James' voice cut across their quiet discussion.
Lilly began to break away from Severus and with one fleeting look at his sad eyes, ran to James.
"I don't see what you see in him Evans." He heard James' speaking to her. "I mean, yeah he's good at potions... But nothing else."
Lilly turned on him.
"James how dare you say that. Your no better than Sirius!" She almost screamed the last bit, and then ran away.
Severus felt his eyes grow hot, he had just made her feel bad, could he never do anything right?

"Hey, Severus." He looked up from his book.
"Oh, hi Bella." He muttered unwillingly.
"Why do you hang out with the mudblood?" She asked, sitting right infront of him, perching on her haunches.
"Wha... How...." He began.
"What? You think I'm stupid? I see the way you look at her. Little Lilly Evans. Lilly Evans who prefers Potter to you."
Severus snapped his book shut.
"Thats enough, Bella." He growled.
"Can you just imagine..." Bella
