[9:26 am – Train Ride to Kings Cross]

I like Samson Carswell.

I can pinpoint the moment I realized it, too.

July 25, shortly before everyone left my home, Tait came over to meet my friends. I was excited, hoping he’d get on well with them. Of course, my joys were premature and misplaced (it took forever to think up those words). Samson was the first, and only, to meet Tait. This affair was rather dramatic and involved a haughty Samson, a mocking Tait, a fight with words, a storming off Tait, and a furious Samson lecturing me and leaving. Ten minutes of my sobbing before Samson ventured back with an awkward apology. He sat down beside me.

And I took his hand.

That’s when I realized Merlin’s pants, I like Samson Carswell!

Because, even though we’d fought again and he said awful, mean things, they ceased to matter when he apologized. After I took his hand, when he slipped his fingers between mine, I just knew that everything would be okay. Then, I leant against him and rest my head on his shoulder and he didn’t even move or shrug me off. He didn’t seem to care and I felt warm and right and just perfect. Like that’s where I belonged.

I have no idea what to do.

He probably doesn’t even like me.

It felt like he likes me. There was just this… charge, this energy and everything felt peaceful and comfortable and certainly he felt it? That it was just… right? Because… it just… you could feel it, there’s no way to describe the perfection and rightness I felt. Ag! Oh, Merlin.

What if I imagined it? Maybe there was no charge? Samson was behaving funny when I ran into him in Diagon Alley. He ran off with these two boys (one had a fake mustache. Er…) and merely waved at me when he saw me.

Maybe the moment was actually awkward for him and now he’s going to ignore me best he can.

Ag.

Ag, ag, ag!

I like Samson Carswell.

[Around 2 pm. Maybe close to 3.]

I think I imagined it. In fact, I really believe I must’ve, now, because here I am on the train and Samson has said less than ten words to me. Ag!

When I got on the train, I didn’t know where the others were so I just sat down in a compartment in the front with the skunklettes. Shortly after, Gavin showed up and he came and sat with me. We chatted for a bit and I debated in my mind whether I should talk to Gavin about Samson, but then Callie came in, which was awfully awkward. There’s really been no recovery from last year’s debacle, I don’t believe.

With Callie in there, I couldn’t very well talk about Samson so I made polite conversation with her until Samson showed up. And not long after, Sabrina.

Had they been together? Is that why he wasn’t around – cos he was with Sabrina?

Ich. Go away, tummy pangs.

I am not jealous. There’s no way I’m jealous. They were friends first.

Anyway, Samson barely even acknowledged me – he didn’t even say anything about my hair or clothes. Even Gavin noticed! It was right depressing, too, because Fredreich told me that I look older, like I could pass for fifteen with my hair all piled up in this pretty, loose bun Mummy did. And my new dress was a gift Mummy got! Apparently, this fashion designer for the design label Voila! who is waaay hot couture designed the dress as a gift to Mummy for me.

I figured of all people, he would’ve said something.

But instead, he’s been at the compartment across the hall from me, throwing things and flirting at these girls. Urgh. What’s wrong that stupid jerk? Hmph! No more thinking about him, Issy.

Not a hard task.

Let’s think about the conversation with Callie in which she told you that everyone was happy to see you’d returned.

Everyone but for Sams— NO NO NO! Stop thinking of him! Think pleasant. How sweet of Callie to have said something. Especially as catty and treacherous as she is. Pleasant thoughts, Issy, that was hardly pleasant.

Sigh. Why won’t he at le— Stop there Missy.

Why is it so hard to not think about him?

…and why is the train slowing…?

[4:50something. On.. carriages?]

This is an outrage! An injustice! Karma has caught up to me for all the mean things I did to Matti and for bossing Fredreich around my entire pre-Hogwarts life! Nobody deserves such an injust treatment!

Why segregation?

What’s so wrong with how Hogwarts has been all along?

Never have I attended an all-girls school! And I’ve never wanted to, for that matter!

What in the name of Merlin’s saggy pants is going on right now? All girls? And where are the boys off to? For that matter, where are we off to? Hogwarts? Another school? I want to know who’s behind this, too! Maybe Daddy can dig up some info, I’ll have to borrow an owl off someone and post him. Urgh!

Now I’ll never get to talk to Gavin about Samson or even directly talk to Samson. And I won’t ever get to find out if he’s been avoiding me or just been being really weird. I won’t get to see Aiden or Mister Ryan or Zero or Gavin or Samson or any of my male friends. Ag.

I wish I knew what was going on.

Now I’m currently in a carriage with Sabrina, Juni (I finally found her! Hurrah!), this new little firstie and two girls who I don’t know.

And no. I am certainly not happy. Not. One. Bit.

HMPH!

Yaaaaay! Issy is back for her second year at Hogwarts, quill and journal ready. With the absence of boys due to the school segregation, I fancy she'll have quite a bit of time on her hands. ;]

For the sake of my last entry, the carriage I was in included Sabrina, Juni, a first year named Becca, a first year named Melly, and Willow. Becca and Melly are awfully cute, I’ll be happy to have them around. We’ve all stuck together thus far, which will come in handy, seeing as half of my close friends have gone missing. Plus, I feel kind of… like a mother duck with these little firstie friends. I wonder if Samson and Sabrina felt this way about me last term…

The point of me writing, though, is not to ponder whether my friends felt like mother ducklings but to rant and vent.

BECAUSE I AM NOT AT HOGWARTS!

It is impossible that this could be Hogwarts – some weird monstrous construction meant to be a torture chamber, I believe. That is the only conclusion I can come to, if I’m thinking in means of logic, because this white and lavander and grey and girly school can only be a torture chamber. Why else would we have such rules?

No letters to anyone outside of your family.

No jewelry.

No pets in the Common Room and certainly not in the bed.

But the skunklettes sleep with me! They always have, since I brought them home! There is no way they can’t not sleep with me – it’d be too confusing for them and they’d probably not comply anyway. I know a lot of people feel the same way, because Juni said that her lemurs probably wouldn’t do well doing so either, and Gem’s toad probably can’t bear to be separated either. Has this Belle woman never heard of separation anxiety?

This whole thing is incredibly insane. No words can sum them up. In the Common Room, I had a big pow wow with the girls, all about this. The Common Room… Merlin I cannot describe the Common Room! There is no blue! Everything is white – white leather amchairs, white daisy shaped tables and flower shaped lamps and flowers everywhere and these hideous portraits of the Minister and his wife! ONE OF THE PORTRAITS HAS THE MININSTER DRESSED IN A TOGA! As if I want to see that!

They give me this eerie feeling that we’re being watched. I imagine it’s entirely plausible, too. Somehow, the Minister and his wife can see us in our Common Room. How eerie! Those portraits are all over – are they watching us at all times? Ag! How horrifying!

Though I told myself not to mention him, I really wish Samson was here. Because he would greatly enjoy everything we’re doing. It feels so authoritative and serious, makes me feel bigger and older. How silly, I know. Even still, Juni and Sabrina and Becca and Melly and Gem and I are having such fun and we went to talk to Professor Lainey. We have a few ideas about changing the Common Room… hehe. Juni has plants. Like a venus fly trap…hehehe.

The Hogwarts Brigade.

I envision us in our uniforms, marching around. With our Hogwarts blazers and a white arm band bearing the Hogwarts’ crest and a First Aid sign. We’re here to save the school! It makes me feel so happy and silly. If only the situation wasn’t so serious…

On the bright side, I suppose, I’ve met some new friends. Hurray!

Yet, I still feel really… ominous.

This really isn't Hogwarts - it can't be. The Hogwarts I know was... so much cozier. Our Common Room doesn't feel right, the arm chairs aren't comfy. No one likes leather - I have it at home and hate it there, too! These flowers make me feel ill (no, really - I attained a headache in the time I was in there). Where are the books? What happened to the home I know? Ag, I feel like crying again. I was so looking forward to Hogwarts again and now it's all... wrong! This infuriates me so greatly!

I want to go home. And by home, I mean the old Hogwarts. Not this weird... screwed up, torture chamber called Belle's School of Witchcraft.

It's like Belle's Academy of Fine Ladies.

THERE IS NO WAY I WILL BE A PRINCESS!

Time to go write letters.

Melly: Melina First Year Ravenclaw. Personality rather unknown. Shy. Quiet. Seems booky. Nice and friendly. Kind of soft spoken, but she seems to be trying. Rather introverted, it seems. Often in thought? Even still, worth befriending and staying close to.

Becca: Rebecca. First Year Ravenclaw. Outgoing. Very outspoken. Loud. Big on stirring it up. Upset about the new Hogwarts (duh) and wants to make a change. Willing to shake it up a bit. Very good with people. Another good friend to get close to.
