The Memory Chamber of the Department of Mysteries is a highly secured vault in which history is recorded by a series of memories expertly pieced together to illustrate accounts of events in the fullest degree possible. These records are not complete. Some pieces are missing and others are damaged by spells and traumatic happenings, but these are the details as clearly as they were seen and interpreted. The following recollections are based upon the occurences surrounding Danton Latimer Gethin, also known as Lord Gethin, also known as the Second Arising of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, also known as the Dark Son.

Gethin, Danton Latimer: Department of Mysteries - Log 1 (Esica 14-A) November 22, 2106

It is difficult now to say why Danton did what he did, for no one can remember what the poor lad was like while he was alive. Perhaps he was adventerous and simply chasing a thrill. Perhaps he thought it a scholarly challenge. Or perhaps he was evil, even before he made that trip into the darkness this world had left behind. Even those of us recording the story in the archives of the Department of Mysteries do not know. What we do know is that this world will not again underestimate the dark powers of the late Lord Voldemort.

Danton held the handle of his wand between his teeth in deep concentration as he stared at the color of his potion. It had to be perfect before he could add the final ingredient unless he wanted to start the seven-month-long process all over again. Squinting at it thoughtfully, he nodded, removed his wand from his mouth and gently placed a single beatle's eye in the dead center of the cauldron, whispering dead words as he waved his wand over the concoction.

Almost instantaneously after he fell silent, the air above the cauldron began to crackle, smelling like burnt atmosphere. A dark spot seemed to appear in Danton's vision. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his sleeve, but it remained, becoming larger. When it was the size of a snitch, the young wizard realized that it wasn't a black spot in his vision but a black spot in the world. An empty space, as black as death, grew and stretched before him. He smiled to himself and let loose a call of triumph that echoed through the empty basement laboratory. It had worked! The portal was opening! When the portal was the size of a small doorway, Danton stuck his wand in his back pocket and climbed through.

Dead silence filled the chamber Danton had used to perform this ancient ritual. A man, with the same dark hair and dark brown eyes as Danton stepped off of the stairwell, a stunned expression on his face. He walked slowly over to the portal, careful to keep his distance and unwilling to get withing three feet of it. Omery Gethin, Danton's father and the owner of the lab, had never throught it possible for his 18-year-old son to do what he had just done, smart as he was. Still, he was terrified of the rift and, despite the danger of his son, found that he could do nothing but wait and stare into the nothing. He stood there for days, not eating or drinking. Just... waiting.

At the end of the sixth day, a hand grasped the edge of the portal and Danton pulled himself back through. He tossed a bit of sand into the cauldron and, the potion ruined, the portal closed with a sound of suction. Danton straightened his robes, dusting himself off slightly and smirked. He took a deep breath of the dungeonous air, his eyes flickering a murderous red as he looked upon his father. Wand in hand, Danton approached Omery.

Lol, yeah. I know, that's not a word. More like an emotion but that's beside the point. xD Seriously though, everything about your fic has me going "O_o" x] In an entirely gooooood way. I haven't read something this refreshing on SS in sooo very long.

Everything is amazing. x] The symbolism used...the totally eye-catching title...the beyond amazing character layouts...the bizarre plot...the twisted tint of mystery...the nearly flawless grammar...the detailed descriptions..yeah...nearly everything blew me away. X]

Although, that end was a bit evil. *pokes the cliffhanger* Keep it comin' buddy! I'll be stalking keeping an eye out! =D

Gethin, Danton Latimer: Department of Mysteries - Log 2 (Esica 14-A) December 25th, 2106

Over the course of the two months following the events of the first Log of Danton Latimer Gethin, there were no reported sightings, no known contacts, and no apparent meetings with the entity codenamed the Dark Son. There are therefore no memory records to report. However, two months and three days after the death of one Omery Talen Gethin, a significant event occurred, inferring that the Dark Son had been planning in solitude for that amount of time and had made no efforts to acquire assistance for said event. The implied event left no survivors, but a Magdelene Lilith Potter was found deceased, lying in a pool of the entire day's memories. Memories were damaged due to rapid extraction, leaving them with broken audio, and are labelled D.U.D. (discarded upon death).

Memory 2-A
Magdalene Apparated before a large house comprised mostly of rooms stacked haphazardly upon other rooms, though it was nearly impossible to see the whole thing through the weather. The tip of her nose turned bright red against the frozen winter air and she began to slowly tread through the snow-filled air to the front door. Before she had reached the door, it swung open and a tall man came out to help shield her against the storm and helped her inside where they both stomped their boots and shook the ice out of their hair. She smiled at the man and said something inaudible.

He nodded at her and began speaking silently until, "...thought you wouldn't want to leave the house, cold as it is h--"

She laughed, but it sounded filtered, as though full of static. "And miss the annual... (unintelligible)... at the Burrow? (unintelligible)... Christmas without a Potter-Weasley celebration?" she asked him, her eyes twinkling.

The man led her into the kitchen where she recognized and embraced several members of her own family as well as several Weasleys, obvious with their bright red hair. Spotting a middle-aged couple, both with blond hair, holding an infant, she exclaimed something and greeted them with enthusiasm as another couple came in through the front door, shaking themselves of the weather.

End of Memory 2-A
--The memory goes black unexpectedly and a disembodied voice makes the following declaration:

"Due to difficulties with the auditory signals of this series of memories, we feel it necessary to label the missing names of parties present. Memory includes all members of the Weasley and Potter families not between the ages of 11 and 17 and also includes Erical Myles and Newton Alexander Scamander III with an unnamed infant as well as Martha Starla and Gregory Giles Longbottom, the last to arrive."

Memory 2-B
The scraping of chairs against wood and forks against plates was garbled, but still present as the combined Potter, Weasley, Scamander, and Longbottom families had their Christmas dinner with a side of bright conversation. The table was sitting in the back garden which had been covered with what appeared to be a bubble that was magically heating the area.

In the middle of the celebration, without warning, an explosion took place at the center of the long table where everyone was seated. Near the end of the table, Magdelene was thrown clear and crawled from the accident on scorched hands, her heavy breathing inaudible. The garden sphere flickered and faded, letting the snow storm into the garden.

A dark figure began walking toward the scene slowly, as though taking in the destruction with a connoisseur's eye. Magdelene began ripping memories out of her mind as quickly as she could--an entire day's worth. She paused with one last memory in her hand as the figure stopped before her and raised his wand.

End of memory.

All these pretty namesssss are makin me spazz out. It's such a shame that they're doomed. =X Or..are they? Ohh, the mysteries that are to unravel soon. I can't wait!

Gethin, Danton Latimer: Department of Mysteries - Log 3 (Esica 14-B) December 25th, 2106

The following memories require little introduction or explanation. The destruction cast by the shadow of the Dark Son was great in both severity and contemplation. He struck, as always, with unexpected force and, for much of beginning of his reign, completely alone. All memories collected with any connection to Danton Latimer Gethin indicate that this new manifestation of evil planned elaborate assaults with only one attacker in mind--the Dark Son, himself. The devastation he brought with his first act, as previously illustrated in Log 2, however, was the greatest by far.

Memory 3-A

Hogwarts is always a beautiful sight around Christmastime, with it's sixteen Christmas trees, and live fairies flitting between the branches. The smell of Christmas dinner is intoxicating and, even more so, is Christmas dessert, which is what the handful of students and teachers who'd stayed over break seemed to be tucking in to at the moment. Adelinde flipped her red hair over one shoulder and grinned at the boy sitting across from her as he shoveled some sort of pie into his face.

"I'm surpised the twins decided to stay in this Christmas," she said to the boy as she looked down the table to take stock of all the people who had stayed for the holidays rather than having the large celebration with their collective families.

Two seats down, a set of identical twin girls with bright red hair to match Adelinde's sat, taking turns eating each other's food and poking each other in the ribs with their spoons. Across from them, a twitchy-looking boy with messy black hair was reading a book propped up against his pumpkin juice as he ate. Next to him, a blushing blond girl was feeding bites of strawberry cheesecake to the googling brunette boy beside her. Finally, across from the stomach-churning couple sat a girl with short-cropped auburn hair who was trying to keep the young blond boy next to her from throwing food at a group of green-clad students at the other side of the Great Hall.

--The memory stops in mid-frame and a disembodied voice makes the following declaration:

Study of the parties present in this memory have determined the identities of each individual, which we will label now. Hunter Lorimer Potter (brunette boy), Spence Dallon Potter (reading), and Kelby Leighton Potter (short, auburn hair) are 4th generation descendants of Harry and Ginny Potter. Gemini "Lefty" Weasley and Genesis "Righty" Weasley (twins) are 4th generation descendants of George and Angelina Weasley. Elodie Cybille Weasley (blond girl) is 4th generation descendant of Bill and Fleur Weasley. Chase Weston Longbottom (across from Adelinde) is 3rd generation descendant of Neville and Hannah Longbottom. Royal Masterman Scamander (blond boy) is 4th generation descendant of Luna and Newt Scamander.

--The memory continues.

She smiled to herself and was about to take another bite of her dessert when Headmaster Maltus stood up and began to speak. She set her fork down to listen.

With a grave look on his face (more so than usual, anyway), he announced in a booming voice, "The following students should report to the teachers' lounge immediately. Kelby, Hunter, and Spence Potter; Gemini, Genesis, and Elodie Weasley; Adelinde Ashling; Chase Longbottom; and Royal Scamander. Everyone else is excused to their dormitories.

The nine students looked between themselves with puzzled expressions, each of them as confused as the other. More than a few glares were thrown at Gemini and Genesis, but they assured everyone that they hadn't done any pranks recently to warrant interrupting Christmas dinner or being asked to report to the teachers' lounge.

Together, they made their way to the door located on the other side of the teachers' table and entered, one by one. Nine poufs that looked as though they had been kidnapped from the Divination Tower waited for them and they all took seats. Once all the teacher's had joined them, some looking just as somber as the Headmaster and other's looking about to cry, Chase finally spoke up.

"What's going on, Professor?" Chase asked in a tone of mingling worry and suspiscion.

"I'm afraid it's bad news, Chase," he said to the boy. "I almost hesitate to say, but..." he stopped.

The Charms professor put a hand on his shoulder and said, "There's no one else to tell them, Marcus."

He nodded and said, "Quite right. Quite right." He cleared his throat before beginning. "I'm very sorry to say, children, that there has been... an accident. This evening there was an attack at the Weasley home. I'm afraid that everyone..." he coughed again, looking uncomfortable. He began his sentence again. "I'm afraid that no one survived."

Adelinde look at him with her mouth open for several seconds before the weight of his words took effect. When they finally did, she felt her stomach give a violent lurch. She covered her mouth and made a mad dash for the bathroom, getting only as far as the corridor just outside of the teachers' lounge. She fell roughly to her knees, her head throbbing in her temples and her chest working hard to continue breathing as she threw up on the cold stone.

Beautiful description, very cannon. I can picture the scene perfectly, and it definitely makes me want to be there.
