Hey guys, it's Taylor. This little fan fic is going to be about the my Hogwarts RPG character, Taryn Moira Bennet. It's going to take place before all the Ireland stuff happened, actually, it's going to take place before Hogwarts, back when she lived in America. (at first...it'll get going to more recently, so you may see some mention of some familiarness.  ) Anyways, let's just get this started. August 23
These things usually start with an introduction, right? I'm new to this... Well, my name is Taylor Morgan Bennet. I'm nine years old, and I live in a small town in Tennessee, in the United States. I'm not really sure what else I'm supposed to put in here on my first day of writing in this thing...Mema gave it to me. She said writing would help me understand my feelings better... Yeah. Right. How can anyone understand my feelings? Er, if feelings is what you call them... It's not the easiest to explain. I'll let you know when one occurs, so maybe you can follow along. I can't be the only one, can I?
August 25
Today was Chris's birthday. Chris is one of my best friends. We all went out for ice cream. It was all great fun (especially when we pushed Austin's face into this huge tub of ice cream), until we got kicked out for "disruptive behavior". I mean, come on, we're 9 year olds, at a kids' ice cream shop. Not school. Anyway, that's not the point. A tradgedy happened today, and I think it was my fault... Let me explain.
After we left the ice cream store, Chris's mom took Chris, Caitlin, Anne Marie, Ben, Austin, and I to the park. Katie was there. I really don't like that girl. She's always mean to me and she picks on me and calls me names, and she's mean to Austin. Her friend Delia was with her today. Delia was even meaner than Katie, if that's possible. She barely had known me for five minutes, when she started making fun of my pony tails... She said they were stupid and childish and she threatened to cut them off! Isn't that awfully terrible? But not as terrible as what I did...
Well, me and Austin had went to swing for a while, and when we came back, we found Delia picking on Caitlin. Caitlin has been my best friend since we were in diapers, and she's always been a little small...maybe a little gullible and easily trampled on. So I came over and pushed Delia. And do you know what she did?
She pushed me face down into the mud! I was covered in mud from head to foot, and I got my favorite pair of white shorts, my pink T-shirt, and my brand new sparkling white tennis shoes completely brown. And then she stuck her bubble gum in my hair! (I had to get my hair cut...it looks cute in its little bob, cut short. But I despise it...I can't wear my pigtails anymore...)
But even all of this isn't as bad as what I did... See, after she tortured me, Delia and Katie skipped off over the hill side, and all I could think of is that I wish someone would push her in the mud, or cut off all of her perfect, blonde curls...or worse. When I finally felt I could get up off the ground, Caitlin and I decided to go take a walk around the lake, until we could find Chris's mom, to get us clean.
But we didn't fine Mrs. Mabrey. No, we found Delia. Delia, with her snobby little blond curls. Delia, with her silver and pink charm bracelet. Delia...lying unconscious in the mouth of the lake. I looked at Caitlin, and we raced towards her. Just then, Katie came around the bend.
She screamed.
"What have you DONE?!?!?! Delia! DELIA!!!"
Delia never answered.
Delia had drowned.
Even though this girl had tortured me, tears came to my eyes. No girl deserved to die. I started bawling. I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd done this. Why had I wanted to push her in the mud? Why had I wished her misfortune? My friends tried to justify what happened, saying it wasn't me. But I know it was. I just know it. I talked to Mema about this. She's the only adult I can talk to....she called Mommy and made us talk on the phone. And I finally shared my feelings with Mommy. Mommy says we must have a "talk" about my specialness. Specialness. If getting people killed who irritate me is special, I don't want to be special. I'm scared to talk to Mommy when I get home tonight. Please wish me luck... |

It's not her fault, officer honest! Delilah just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! (Do you think this story will work?) I love the way this fic is heading, not the death part, but the idea of this fic is really awesome!

I'm sitting in the back of Mema's big, ancient, black car writing by the light of the yellow interior lights. Mema's got some music playing, and it sounds awful. She said (and I quote,) "it's the classics...which I missed out on in my youth, while I was off-- Er, well, while I was away." (end quote). Doesn't make much sense, now does it?
Anyway, we're on our way back to Mema's now, where she's promised me hot chocolate and old television reruns. Just like normal. But I'm not much in the mood for normal right now... I just had my "talk" with Mommy. And let's just say, it did not go well.
I've figured out everything, had it all explained, but now I feel worse about it... Let me explain.
I'm a witch! A witch! Can you believe that? Mommy told me, and I didn't believe her, and to make me believe her, she grew my hair back (The one plus that's come out of all this). When I first heard, I refused to believe it.
A witch, for crying out loud! Witches are old, and lizard-skinned, and gray-haired with warts and a cackling laugh. I'm nine, with baby-soft skin, chesnut braids, and my laugh sounds like tinkling bells. Could there be a bigger contrast between two things?
Mommy swears that its not like that. She says we're good witches (Oh, yes, Mommy's also a witch...and Mema) and that "muggles" (people who aren't quite like us) have twisted the meaning of witches and wizards, since the Dark Ages. She says when I turn eleven, I'll be going to a school called Warthogs or something. Who wants to go to a school named after a pig with tusks? I refuse. I won't go. Mommy also said she left the magical world quite some years ago, and when I was born, she hoped that I would show no sign of magic, so that we would be left alone. But, apparently, I was showing major signs and there was no way I could be kept from that world. She even said that if I'd slept even an hour (which I hadn't slept at all since Chris' birthday party) my hair would probably grow back completely without her help.
So, all of this is just fine and dandy except...what if I don't WANT magical powers?
What if I got to this school, and all these other kids had been practicing theirs since birth? And me, having just found out, would be taunted and teased? Or what if no one liked my appearence? Were high pigtails considered "out" with these people? Would I have to spike it as high as the ceiling to fit in? But Mommy was one of them, and she looked normal... But of course, Mommy didn't want to be one of them, either... All of these problems seem minor compared to this one question that has been bubbling inside of me...
If Delia was killed because of me being a witch, does that mean I willed it to happen? Am I a bad person? I feel really awful about it, but does that matter? I had been hoping with all my heart that when I talked to Mommy, it would be something like "Oh, honey, you poor thing...don't worry, it's not your fault. Delia had a heart attack at the ripe age of nine and a half. Perfectly normal. Not your fault."
But, no. It had gone more like this:
"Oh, hi, Tay. By the way, you might want to stop thinking mean things. You're killing people. What's that? You didn't do it?" (here I imagined Mommy throwing her head back and cackling, her skin turning greener and wartier by the second) "Well, of course you did it! Your a witch! I'm so proud of you, pumpkin." I shuddered at the word 'pumpkin'...it was all so Halloween-ish.
Okay, so that's not exactly how it happened...Mommy had pulled me into her lap and explained it all, the hugged me and just let me cry, and I could have sworn I saw a tear escape from her, too. But, for the way I felt, it might as well have went the other way, warts and all. I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up tomorrow to find Mommy missing and a toad in her place... What's going to happen to me? | |

that was horrible that that girl died but she was being mean. Taryn didn't mean it, she has just learnt she is a witch. Lol!!! she will have a wonderful time at Hogwarts.
