His prideful smirk quickly faded as the doctor revealed his latest news.
"It's a girl, congratulations Sir."The doctor said briefly to him, turning quickly away.
When the room went quiet he turned to her,"Congratulations?"He sneered."At least we have a son to pride our name. And you talked me into another. How pitiful."With a brisk turn he left her with a sound baby in her arms.

11 Years later - Chapter One - The Start

My alarm went off in my ear. Buzzing loudly and waking me, dazed and startled from my resent dream. Hitting the button as quickly as possible, so I could keep from disturbing father, I jumped into an icy shower. Starting my day at 4:30 am.
Getting dressed and attending my morning routine I rushed a tad bit. Today was different. Hogwarts had sent me my first letter, like they had my brother two years previous. Hurrying downstairs I began cooking the breakfast for my brother and father. I had my bags packed a week in advance so I could help my brother like usual. Hearing the groaning of floorboards above my head I smiled. Father would be pleased, he loved to wake up to the smell of my cooking. My brother was quite jealous of my pleasing father like this. But, unlike my brother, I had to, I was made very clear never to disappoint my father. Mum told me that it was the worst possible thing. One day, when I was around seven, I had burn the littlest piece of bacon and learned very quickly that I was to be perfect. But my father only hurt me because he wanted to teach me to be perfect. He loved me very much, I knew that. Plus every child was punished for wrong doing. My dad showed that boys were to be treated better because they were they root of success in life. Girls were just along to help. No matter what, I know he is right. The bruise on my head was slightly throbbing as he came down the stairs. I wasn't paying much attention to the chores set for me so he had taken a tight fist to me.


7:30 am

Hearing my mother's last good-bye until Christmas break I waved lightly, pushing my blonde hair off my shoulder and onto my back. My blue-grey eyes scanned the area. My brother told me that I was lucky to have my looks because his third-year friends would allow me to sit with them. He also bragged because I was going to be the prettiest girl in the whole school. I was like a trophy to my family, they loved to show me off. He lead me swiftly to what he called,'his compartment and sat me in the corner next to the window, setting himself on the other side of me and preparing our infamous family smirk.
About twenty minutes later the train was scooting off. He introduced me to all his friends, or what he told me earlier that they were just his posse. Smiling sweetly I had all their eyes on me the whole time, what an interesting bunch of people. But their names blew my mind, Crabe, Goyal, Pansey? Honestly! But still I greeted them and gave them my name. Alissa Lynn Malfoy. My brother, Draco, began to talk about all sorts of things. I just smiled and nodded on as mother taught me, to be a showcase, to make Draco and dad look good. That was my job. And If I messed up, then everything was out of control.

Well just a little chunk of what I can do before I must go, I might get Chapter two done but I cant be sure.

Chapter Two - The Sorting

As Draco had pointed me off to a giant man with a scruffy looking dog I sighed. Walking behind all the other kids I felt strange. Everyone had found a friend so far but me. Glancing around I saw one other girl who looked decent. Sliding back to where she was I quietly greeted her,"Hello, I'm Alissa Malfoy."
The girl smiled. She was pretty, long, silky black hair, shiny Green eyes, and pale skin to match. She had said her name was Victoria Snape. We began to talk all about the school and about who our family was. Apparently her father taught at the school. Potions master. Vikki was hoping for Slytherin as well as I was. Father would be proud of me for this girl, I remember him talking about a man with that name a lot. Good family friend.
When I found that they called names by letters I started to panic. Malfoy and Snape were awfully far apart in the alphabet. Only six letters although there were more than one name to a letter. Upon hearing my name, it was hard to unlink arms with Victoria. But with as much family pride as I could I took my seat on the stool. My smirk broadened as the hat called Slytherin at the second it touched my head. I caught a small glimpse at Draco. He was yelling the loudest, it made me smile. Again, I was a trophy, and I was doing my part to help my family.
Taking a seat next to Draco I told him about Victoria. He said that I was just like him with choosing friends wisely. Then he pointed out her father. Severus Snape was his name. Malfoy's were his pride and joy if his daughter wasn't enough. Draco said that he would be easy on me as long as I was good. Ten minutes later I heard the name echo through the hall. It made everyone stop. No one knew that Professor Snape had a wife let alone a child. Victoria took her spot at the stool. I felt my breathing cease. For the longest time the hat seemed to decide. My breath sighed out relief, for I was so close to losing her to another house. Then I would be a disappointment to Draco. Slytherin was called and Victoria scurried to my side. I introduced Draco and his friends to her and she seemed to fit in perfectly. Now I had it all, my family name, my looks, my brother, and now my best friend.

Chapter Three - The Rude Awakening

The first class today was more like a free period. They said they wanted us to get helped around the school by third years. But as soon as I had heard this news they said that they were pairing kids with other houses. Clinging to Victoria we heard names being called. With my luck, Vikki and I were placed with people who were always with each other. Some boy, I believe his name was Harry, was my guide. His friend Ronald was Victoria's guide. They began to explain the rules until something crossed his face. Turning to Ron, Harry seemed to say,"Bloody Hell mate, Malfoy's got a deathly look on his face!"I looked back to see Draco eyeing everything that was happening right now. Waving lightly to him, trying to say I was okay to take care of myself he nodded briskly turning away.
Harry then began to eye me and questioned me quickly,"D'you know him or something?"He said glancing back at Draco then to my face.
Nodding I smirked,"He's my brother."I said showing as much pride as I could. But something different appeared in his face. It stung me deeply,"What? Are you friends with him?"
Harry's laugh boomed at the table as he smiled at me. This boy was really nice, Draco would be his friend right? Harry began to speak in a normal voice while his friend Ron was still laughing,"I feel terrible for you..."He said sighing,"I would no quicker have every torture on earth placed upon me than be friends with that sick, twisted, slithering snake."
I was too taken back by this to answer immediately. Victoria's eyes were huge as she waited for my reply,"That's preposterous, you'd be lucky to be friends with Draco, he - everyone wants to be his friend. People love my family!"Surely Harry must've been talking about someone else!
Harry shook his head,"That snake Lucius has been shoving a pile of dung down her throat for a while now."Before he could say anything else, a bushy, brown haired girl appeared, smacking him on the back of the head.
"Harry!"She hissed."Dont you talk to a first year like that! You and Ronald need to learn manners!!"Turning to Victoria and I she smiled,"Hello, I'm Hermione Granger."Sighing, she glanced at Harry and Ron then turned to us,"Please excuse these knuckle-head's comments towards you."
I smiled, watching as Victoria introduced herself to Hermione, and how Hermione had a confused look on her face as she glanced at Snape. Then she turned to me. I smiled weakly and glanced at where Draco was. He was paying attention to some girls who looked to be fourth years. Rolling my eyes I turned to her,"Alissa Malfoy."I said sweetly. Again a reaction, Hermione turned to Harry and Ron.
She looked up at me again,"Interesting..."She mumbled as she turned once more then looked at me sadly,"He's told you those things hasn't he? About how everyone wants to be friends with Malfoy's because they are amazing?"Hermione watched as I nodded slowly,"To be honest, If anything, people stay away from Malfoy's."I felt my cheeks go red. My eyes started to burn as I listened to everything she was saying,"Your brother and your father have taken control of people, and only have people who follow out of fear. They - They live for torture."Hearing this was too much. I stood up, The tears were pushing so hard to come out that I could barely see. Hermione was watching me, helplessly. I turned and bolted out of the Great Hall. About halfway to the Common room I stopped. Sliding my back down the hard, cold, stone wall I sat down. Crying by myself until I heard foot steps. A voice softly said,"Now, Now. Because your family is this way does not mean you are."It was so comforting. I looked up to see a tall, older man, kneeling in front of me. His beard was long and white along with his hair and his eyes had shown bright and blue with wisdom.
"How could you know this?"I whimpered. He smiled more,"Because, everyone has a choice, Harry Potter had the choice to follow your brother and be in Slytherin, but he choose to be a Gryffindor and have pride in it. You may not be able to choose your house, but you can defiantly choose your heart. Now Miss Malfoy, I do believe a very worried friend is about to come and make sure your okay. You should keep her close."He said kindly.
I was going to ask who he was and how he knew all of this but I assumed that it was showing through my face plainly. He stood up and watched as I did so too."I'm Professor Dumbledor, I am Headmaster at this school, I was here teaching when your father attended school, Trust me, I know all there is to know about Malfoy's."With that he said good-bye and turned to stride off. I could hear in the distance a greeting, then I saw Vikki running around the corner to me and hugging me tightly."I was so scared when I saw you run off!! Are you okay?"She pleaded and we walked together to the common room and up to the Girls Dormitory. Our beds were right next to each other. Changing into my night gown I told her the whole story. She replied saying she couldn't believe I was lied to about so much and that she was going to tell me the truth on everything, no matter who it hurt. Victoria Snape is my best friend, If I lost the littlest bit of truth in that, then my life was over.

Chapter Four - The Eternal Sunshine

The next morning was the strangest. It was the first Saturday of the year and now they had permission slips to go somewhere called Hogsmade. Vikki and I were talking and we decided against even hearing about the trip. We wanted to tour around the castle more, plus, since Draco was going, I wanted to know more from Harry about my brother, or at least my real brother. It was a rumor but from the sound of it, Harry wasn't allowed to attend the Hogsmade trip because he was without a parent signature.
Victoria was too excited because her father was dying to meet me. She clasped her hand around mine as we walked to his class and she took the lead opening it and walking in.
"Dad? I have Alissa with me!"Victoria said in a hushed yell. Thank god she didn't use my nickname Lissa, that would have been slightly embarrassing. I saw a bat-like figure with a long cape seem to whoosh out of a dark corner of the room,"Ahh, Alissa Leigh Malfoy, born February fifth."He said, acting as if I was a patient or some odd test he was studying. With a smug smile he looked me up and down,"Looks like a duplicate of Narcissa."He said shaking his head ever so slightly.
I smirked like the rest of my family,"No disrespect Professor, but I am my own person."This made me smile more, like a sun was shining in my head, yeah, and Eternal Sunshine, brightening my thoughts. He seemed to love this answer. Within the next twenty minutes of chatting about my family he never once compared me to another Malfoy. Although Vikki got him started calling me Lissa. I just prayed that he would call me Alissa or Miss Malfoy in class. Wishing him a good evening, we left quickly. Victoria couldn't stop saying how well that went and how proud she was that I was making myself known better as Alissa, and not Alissa Malfoy. The Malfoy part would come later, when I could give power and change the meaning of Malfoy.

Two Hours Later

Victoria and I were encountering our first match of wizards chess when a gorgeous boy with golden hair and a Hufflepuff robe on sat next to me, smiling widely at the game before us. After I creamed Victoria at the game I turned to him as he applauded me."Very nice."He said brightly. He had to be a fifth or sixth year."Do you mind if I try to beat you?"He said, and as I nodded he walked around and sat across from me."I'm Cedric Diggory."He said, his smile broad and proud."So I have heard that the buzz on you is, You are in fact a Malfoy in look for a better name."His joke made me smile more, then I couldn't help but go scarlet when he said what he said next,"Your to sweet to be a snake."
"Thanks..."I muttered still blushing as the game started. It was quickly finished, to be honest, Cedric was not good at this game, that or I was extremely good. I got to know Cedric really well that day, although my goal of talking to Harry was ruined, Cedric gave me all the info on Draco that I needed. He told me to have a good night, and that he hoped he would see me very soon. When Victoria and I got to the dormitory we started to talk about Cedric. She thought he was pretty cool, then I was stupid and said I thought he was cute and I really liked him. Victoria and I lost it in a fit of giggles as she cracked jokes about stupid things like her father being Batman. It was lights out, even if we didn't want the fun to end, everything needed to end. The room was still bright and glowing, but I guessed that I was just too happy that my sunshine wouldn't go out. Little did I know, sleep came easy and quick.

While I had gotten my life, I seemed to have changed my outlook on everything. So it didn't surprise me that Draco had to go running to mum and dad. I should know because, I had seen my fathers owl fly in and Draco's smirk was darker than ever. I was happy with my life until then, I didn't care who I liked, I had friends from each house, and now I knew my famliy. Opening the letter, I saw his scribbled handwriting.
