| Think it was a little bad judgment? Alright, so the Chamber was opened 50 years previous of that year. If Hagrid attended school when it was opened, wouldn't that make him 63 or 64 years old? and wouldn't Dumbledore be at least like..90 years old?
I don't think the 50 years previous was the best setting, it just seems way to long. |

| My friend told me she read on some site (I think Mugglenet) that JKR said that witches and wizards live twice as long as Muggles. That explains it all. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Third | It's who I am ... I've never thought of Hagrid being that old. I'm thinking it's safe to assume that Giants also age differently than humans ... wizards I know she's said before do ... wasn't that in the movies as well? In any event, Voldemort couldn't have gone to school with Harry's parents because that would throw everything off wouldn't it? A little maybe? Make it odd ... fighting an old classmate ... and he needed time to become the greatest wizard ... I mean second greatest. Okay okay, third after Harry because you know he's going to kick his achoo. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sylvannas Quickspeed Sixth | You don't think of Dumbledore as old until the 6th book, because his feebleness is showing, and his reflexes slowed down a bit. |

| Yes, wizards/witches seem to age slower than muggles. It's like the opposite of how dog years work with humans.
Dumbledore was around 150 years old when the series started. That would make him 156 when he died.
Rubeus Hagrid was born December 6, 1928. Hagrid was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the same time as Tom Riddle. Presumably Hagrid's first year would be 1940, as this would place him at the correct starting age, eleven. Rowling has stated in an interview that Hagrid was in Gryffindor house.
Tom Marvolo Riddle (Voldemort) was born on December 31, 1926. Riddle attended Hogwarts from 1938 to 1945. He was in his 5th year when he had Hagrid expelled during his (Hagrid's) third year after he was accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets (which Riddle was actually responsible).
That makes Hagrid around 78 years old during the last book and Voldemort around 80. Give or take a year (I really suck at math). |

First | Wizards and witches live longer because they have potions and charms that can give them youth, to make them appear younger, and to make them live longer. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Mortis Lucifer Shazwozzle First | Not too much to ad here, i think we can just presume that Wizards live longer than Muggles so his age of 150 makes sense. Plus its Dumbledore in the end, if anyone can find a way to live 'til 150 with or without the use of the Philosphers Stone, its our favourite Headmaster! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amy Third | Dumbledore has to be like really old, because on the Chocolate Frog cards, it was saying something about defeating an evil wizard like, at least 90 years ago. |
