Like most graphics makers, Anna and I occasionally find ourselves in graphics slump, where we feel like everything we make looks the same and we just lack inspiration and creativity. That’s why we are inviting all SS graphicticians to join us in our new competition. No matter how long you've been making graphics, we all have things yet to learn… all we lack is inspiration.

Each round, we will provide some “inspiration” to trigger your muses. Try new things, have fun, go wild, be a little weird, and submit up to two signatures “inspired by” our offering. Our voters will select the entries that best exemplify, to them, creativity, beauty, and original ideas. The round winner will select the next “inspiration” and will be invited to create a tutorial so we can all learn from their genius (invited, but definitely not required).

Rules

» “Inspired by” is not the same as a theme or photo challenge. You are welcome to actively use the inspiration, but you are not required to do so. (ex: if the inspiration is a photograph, you may use elements of it. If it is a song, you can choose to use some of the lyrics.)
» Inspiration can appear in any medium: music, art, literature, architecture, nature, etc.
» Signatures should be no larger than 450px in width and 200px in height.
» Signatures must be under 60kb in size.
» All images should comply by SS rules.
» You can enter up to two signatures per round.
» Do not show your entries to anyone else until after the round winners have been announced.
» All signatures must be PMed to the round host.
» You have three days (72 hours from the time the competition is announced) to PM your entries to the round host.
» You will have two days (48 hours) to vote on the submissions after they are posted.
» Winners will select a new inspiration and entrants are encouraged to submit a tutorial to this thread and here if they want.

Out of the Box Inspirations
Round One: True Colors

First of all, welcome to our brand new graphics competition! We hope you'll have fun and enjoy the competition as much as we're enjoying bringing it to you!

Round one is based on the song "True Colors."

Feel free to interpret the song as you wish, but I will share with you how it's influenced my life. To me, the message says to be true to yourself and always represent your "true colors," or what you're really all about. In your graphics, you can include people, pictures, text, or whatever else you feel represents YOU.

Entries are due: Friday, March 26 by 8 PM EST. Please submit all entries to Anna Banana.

Yay, first round up! We know this is a little... out of the box, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Basically, whatever the inspiration inspires you to create is perfect.

AHHH. I was just telling Anna the other day how my inspiration seems to have gone POOF, so this is an AWESOME idea, guys.

Im deffo gonna give it a whirl and try enter. ^^

I'm glad you guys like the new competition!!

For clarification, your graphics don't have to be about Cyndi Lauper, the person who sings "True Colors." Your graphics should be about who or what reflects YOUR "True Colors." So if Cyndi reflects your true colors, your graphic can be about her. If not, choose someone or something else that you truly feel reflects YOU.

Hope this clears things up!
