The Caribbean is a tropical region in the Western Hemisphere. There are a total of 13 independent or sovereign countries and 17 dependent islands. They are divided into groups such as the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles and Mainland Territories. Most of the independent countries are apart of the Caribbean Community as known as CARICOM. An organization which in most cases represent these countries on the world stage.
Caribbean history has contributed to the flavourful diverse culture. The Caribbean has been called the melting pot of the world as cultures from every corner of the world has played a part in Caribbean history. The languages also differ in the Caribbean as English, Spanish, French, Dutch and other languages are spoken in the Caribbean. But the main bloodline linking them is the creole.
