A Prickly Professor Predicament



YAY for those of us who are done with midterms!

Anyway. In celebration, I've made this RP. I’ve had the idea for a while, but I had yet to post it. So, here we go!


Everyone knows that Hogwarts and drama go hand in hand. BUT. Few people, namely students, realize that half the drama isn’t the students’ doing, but the professors’.

Yep, that’s right. This is about the ins and outs, the hook-ups, break-ups, relationships, squabbles, alliances, and rivalries that – typically unbeknownst to the students – go on among the staff members at good old Hogwarts. Most of the professors are young because a couple of years ago, a financial package was offered to the old profs that they just couldn’t pass up – so, a wave of fresh, young profs filled their places.


Here’s the background, otherwise, everything else is up to you guys!:

Most professors are in their mid twenties to mid thirties, though a few are older, and the flying prof is fresh out of Hogwarts. The librarian is fairly young and noticeably attractive – the typical sweet, but hot librarian. But, she’s secretly had the hots for one of her students – the former quidditch star of the school- who just graduated and has taken the position of flying professor. The Arithmancy and Divination professors cannot stand one another – they disagree over everything. The History of Magic Teacher starts dating the Arithmancy professor, and the COMC professor begins dating the divination professor – they have their little alliances, but will the divisions crumble and – maybe – new relationships form? The DADA and Potions professors are best friends and they’ve been in love with each other since their school years, though they’ve never had the guts to tell each other. The Headmaster is a burly, witty man who enjoys poking fun of the staff, though he’s more observant than he seems.

For the other professors/staff members, we can make up their drama as we go or you may put it in their bios. You may also choose their genders.

Personality: Shy and sweet, Kim Taylor is one of the most quietest and nicest people you will ever meet. She loves to read, and usually had her nose stuck in a book wherever she goes. She likes earthy colors and loves being outside. Since her skin is very light, it's easy to see when she is blushing.

History:Kate hasnt had a dark history,a pretty simple one if anything.She has a twin brother called Sam,who she does get along with very well.They are close,despite being opposite sex's but still,they are quite a pair.Her parents,Serena and Samuel are both muggles,which was odd seeing as they had two magically gifted children.Kates parents own there own busniess,though Kate doesnt really know alot about it,shes wasnt really interested if she was honest.There family is not absolutley rolling in money,but there not poor either,there well off if thats a better way to put it.

She has been brought up in a good town with good friends and family.Her parents always like to make sure that there children are brought up with the right morals and attitude to life.When Kate decided she wanted to be a Charms teacher,her parents were thrilled.And they have been behind here every step of the way.

Personality:Kate is an intelligent young women,she acts like a young women not like a little girl,but she still likes to have some fun every now and again.Shes loyal and cunning,hence being placed in Slytherin in her school days.She speaks her mind,which makes her a good friend.She works hard and is a very approchable person,she is also very independent when shen needs to be,she had been since she was a little girl.Shes easy to work with and easy to talk to,because she listens and unlike others,she doesnt like to judge,she doesnt think its fair to judge.Shes not spoilt or ignorant or arrogant or any of those things,though she can speak her mind without thinking,but she tries to reframe from doing so.Kate does overall have a big heart and she is one to give it to anyone easily.Which can cause chaos sometimes!

oh snap! can't really tell who's left...but i think Herbology is free? if so, what gender? and what's his/her role in all this?

There are several spots left. The herbology professor has no set plot - you can make it up or intertwine it with the plot of the characters I have in the first post. You may choose the gender for Herbology because it's not specified.

Alright, sure. Herbology sounds good i suppose....i really don't like playing girls, they cause way too much drama and over-analyze everything. The characters look uneven to where you need more girls though....I'm just going to be a guy anyway, sorry. By the way! I am a girl in real life, so I'm not trying to be mean to girls I just try to speak the truth.

Name: Philip Martin

Position: Herbology

Appearance: Strong, medium build, tall, short-medium length brown hair, very little "5 o-clock" shadow. If you are still curious specifically to how he looks, type in "Richard Castle" in the google search bar and look at images!
Personality: Philip used to go to Hogwarts. He tried getting a job for a teaching position as soon as he got out of school, but the headmaster at the time knew him well and didn't think he was up to it. This new headmaster didn't know any better, so Philip got the job! Finally! After 10 years of doing odd jobs around Diagon Alley, he's never been so happy in his whole life.
Family: Philip's father, whom he was named after, was an auror who died in battle when Philip was 10. His mother didn't want that life for him, so she tried having Philip focus on other things, school, friends, family. He fell into the trap and wanted to teach after graduating. Philip has one sister named April. That's his best friend. She's 3 years younger than him and she's a healer at St. Mungo's.

I'm an idiot...I just realized that I probably could have done Neville and gotten away with it....I already did all of that, forget it. Sample is below:

"Ya. Take her back there! Go Neville!" Matt yelled getting back up and looking at the death eaters in his sight. Three? Really? "Petrificus Totalous!" He shouted at one. He went stiff as a board. Another one tried hitting Matt with a spell but he blocked it. The last death eater caught Matt off guard and hit him with some dark spell that made him feel like he was being kicked and punched on every part of his body. His wand lay abandoned by a four-poster bed.

Hey, I love the plot. And I want to join. I'm not picky on what gender or job I have so you can choose...Which of the untaken positions do you need most?

Could I take the Divinations professor please? Oh I think I know where you are going withis opposites attract, am I right? Anyway I'll post a bio upon approval.

Edgar furrowed his remarkably unlined brow--remarkable because he very frequently furrowed said brow, not because he was of any age to have worn one in by accident--and put two fingers to each of his temples. The scrolls in front of him were formidable, even in the orderly, alphabetized system he had neatly arranged upon the large oak desk--though this is not what required his deep contemplation. His students had been far from orderly this morning. Edgar was normally placid, grounded, unruffled, sensible, (take what unperturbed adjective you will). But, there was still a faint color about his cheeks, leftovers of honest embarrassment. He had not quite anticipated the...admiration, of his young, female students.

I had actually forgotten Ancient Runes as a subject, so you could be the Ancient Runes professor, or the groundskeeper or caretaker. The gender is up to you, though I'd prefer you play a female because we have more guys right now. =)

All yours. And yep, I did have that in mind .. though it's up to you guys whether you want the 'opposites' to attract or not.

Kellan Carter Davidson

Personality: There are very few people who don’t get along with Kellan. Talking with people comes easily with him, and he’s never had any trace of nervousness in front of crowds – an essential trait to have, for professors. He seems to know everyone somehow, so he’s got quite a few friends; his looks alone seemed to get him enough attention from the female population, but he never let any of his good fortunate get to his head. Conceit was never his thing.

He loves to laugh and he enjoys just having a good time in life… hell, of course he does - he’s still in his teens! Loyal and just, he’s true to his house characteristics. Although he may be practically fresh out of Hogwarts, his fellow professors have quickly come to respect him and he has shifted into the role of flying professor quite nicely.

Background: Kellan Davidson used to be known as basically your perfect schoolboy. Good looks, smart, quidditch captain, prefect. He was often compared to the well-known Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory. However, over his later years at Hogwarts, he seemed to have formed a close friendship with the new school librarian. In his sixth year, suspicions of a relationship between the Miss Taylor and Kellan floated about in many of his classmates’ minds – and in his seventh year, as the teacher and student remained close, the rumors only became even more widespread. Despite the gossip and despite his feelings for his own school librarian, the two were never actually romantically involved.

Extra: Obvioiusly, being the new flying professor, Kellan is an excellent quidditch player. He played chaser and was Hufflepuff captain in his sixth and seventh years. He also referees the matches at Hogwarts.




Cohen Elliot Prescott



Name: Cohen Elliot Prescott

Build: lean, muscular/toned

Personality: How to describe Cohen Prescott? Well, let’s start with the distinct qualities that every person sorted into Gryffindor displays. That is, bravery, chivalry, and daring. And, though the quality is mainly attributed to Hufflepuffs, Cohen is extremely loyal to those he cares for. He’s on the stubborn side sometimes, but usually in a good way.. he’s just trying to do what he thinks is best. He’s passionate about Astronomy – anything to do with the stars or universe fascinates him. Generally, he’s a laid-back man, but he’s by no means a pushover (except when it comes to sobbing girls). If you have a legitimate excuse for not having an assignment, he’ll allow you to hand it in late. Whining, however, does not go over well with him – so, don’t do it, students!

The other Hogwarts professors have come to take a strong fondness towards Professor Prescott, and, likewise, he has developed a distinct care for them as well.

Background: Cohen had always been intrigued by the sky, the stars, and anything above that seemed almost unexplainable. After receiving the Astronomy position at Hogwarts, he immediately began instilling not only knowledge into the minds of his pupils, but also questions – questions that called for inferring and pondering. After all, there’s still a tremendous deal of information about the universe not known to man, and who else must figure it out than those very students?

Although Professor Prescott loves finding out more and more about the stars, planets, and the like, he feels that, sometimes, certain things aren’t meant to be explained. They just ‘are.’

Personality: Samantha has a passion for teaching younglings. She never says no to a late night talk in her office with a student or a colleague for that matter. Sammy does her best to help out whenever she can if it’s solving life problems or just healing a wound. Samantha is a teacher that is under the belief that you learn better if you get both theory and hands on practice. She tries to make her lessons as interesting as possible even though to students the study of Ancient Runes is most of the time something boring and hard. Her aim is therefore more often than not to try to get her students as interested in her subject as she is. Sometimes she succeeds other times she doesn’t. Her classroom motto is fun and learning in a good mix. Samantha is a level-headed woman who is reliable, caring, compassionate, a good listener but opinionated and much more which you will come to learn under the course of the role play. In her spare time she likes to read, drink tea and solve crossword puzzles.

Samantha is a bit of a mother figure to the younger staffers since she is older than most of them. All of her colleagues love her and often come to her with their problems whether it is student related or personal.

History: Samantha Kingsford comes from a pureblooded home in Glasgow, Scotland. Growing up Samantha attended Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry and was sorted into Hufflepuff house. During her magical education she found a passion for myths, folklore, runes and things old so it was no big surprise that she after school educated herself in the Ancient Runes field. At school she had been a prefect of her house and had also had a secret crush on a certain Cesar in the year above her. Samantha did though not voice her feelings for him but now that she has joined his teaching staff she hopes that he will open his eyes to her beauty and person.

Personality: Olivia is an woman who takes everyday as it comes. She is of the silent, contemplative type who doesn't like too much noise or chaos. She is more for order and structure then chaos and messyness. Olivia is not very social since she doesn't like big gatherings but in small groups or one on one she can come out of her shell and open up and share of her knowledge of life and of animals and plants . She is a careful woman who holds on to her principles of what is wrong and right and sticks to them. Olivia tries to lead by the example of an uncomplex life and lifestyle. Ever since she could walk and talk creatures and nature has been close to her heart. And at Hogwarts it was only natural that she was an exceptional student in Herbology and COMC.

History: Olivia was among the toughest students in history for the sorting hat to sort. She really didn't fit in with any of the houses, but eventually was sorted into Gryffindor. If it was the right choice is still a unanswered question. At school she was good achidemically but not a social lion at all. Olivia liked solitude and often hanged out around the groundskeepers hut with her father who held the position back then. It was therefore not a long leap from studying to become a gruondskeeper to accepting the role as groundskeeper under Headmaster Helsing after the untimely death of her father.

Extra: Her stepbrother Caleb have now come to learn the groundskeeper trade as her assitant.

Professor Benjamin Burton stood in his office reading the very peculiar letter from the headmaster again. Apparently he was to give a special announcement at the opening feast, but what it entailed it didn't say. Benjamin wasn't very troubled since he figured that whatever he was supposed to say already laid waiting for him in the dining hall. If not then somebody would probably instruct him during the feast. There was no use worrying.

After combing his hair and straightening his dark green robes to perfection Professor Burton closed and locked his office and headed for the dining hall. Outside the hall he transformed into his Black Panther form. He waited a moment and then the big black cat walked into the boys dining hall heading for the seventh year group of Carter, Hayden, Milo, Jamie and Quinn. As he came close to them he gave up a low growl so that the boys would notice his presence.

The Black Panther looked up at as Hayden met his gaze before giving him a slight bow of the head as if saying 'evening'. The blond seventh year didn't lose his marbles which Professor Burton would have expected since he rarely showed up in his patronus form among the students. Okay maybe he was acting a bit childish but he wanted to show off a bit in front of the new first years.

Some more:
Professor Burton turned to Milo saying assuring "It's quite all right Milo. No need to apologize, but it did hurt my cat ears when you yelled kitty." When Milo mentioned his bad track record in Transfiguration Prof Burton said "Don't dwell on that grade Milo. I promised you at the end the year that I would give you private lessons to make up for your last. There is still time to make a good tranfigurator out of you." Inside though Professor Burton wondered how one of his students who had good grades in other subjects could have such a hard time understanding transfiguration. Shrugging he glanced up the staff table to see if the headmaster or any other professors had arrived.

Personality: Will is sweet and romantic, and very logical. He is a person of logic and is very smart. He likes to make smart resolutins, but sometimes surprises people with very reckless decisions. He is very nice and loving, even though he sometimes makes people bored. He liked History of Magic because he is very facinated by the subject, and loves history. He is very deeply involved with the subject, and is very into his job.

History: When Will was in school, he had top-grades in many subjects. He was also athletic, and played Quidditch for the Ravenclaw-team. His favorite subject was History of Magic, but aslo liked DADA a lot. In his O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's, he was very academic and graduated woth top-grades.
