Maybe that would explain what Dumbledore said to Vernon and Petunia about Dudley in the sixth book!
I think you'll all remember in the second chapter when Dumbledore was about to leave with Harry he mentioned that Dudley had been the one who had suffered.

You know, I forgot that Dumbledore said that. Well now, I'm just about positive it is Dudley. JKR seems to give quite a bit of hints through Dumbledore, I have noticed.

The only thing that bother's me about the possibility of Dudley being the one to develop magical powers is what would he do with them? He wouldn't know what to do, and it would take more than one book to train him up enough for it to make any sense at all, I would think. It IS fun to imagine the looks on his father's face, though! I even wrote about it in my first FF, but I can't say that I expect it to be true! Dudley wouldn't have a clue on how to even use it! And one does not suddenlt develop into a highly powerful wizard....they have to be taught how to do it!

That is true but perhaps, by some chance, Dudley has overheard Harry muttering spells or seen him performing them and could have possibly caught on a bit. Monkey see, monkey do (Something like this actually happens in my RP story 'The Final Year'. not trying to promote it or anything, just sayin'). I am still convinced it is Dudley, because honestly, who else?

maybe its Dudley. im not totally convinced yet. but i agree it could be him since DD said it was Duduley who suffered.

Let's say you are right and that it is Dudley.....how do you see him helping Harry?

I am not sure that he will do anything great at all. ALl that Jo said was that Someone who has never shown magical abilities would do make in an act of desperation. That doesn't mean that that person is going to come to Harry's aid. I thought it could be Dudley because of the dementors reaction on him. It might be the cse that Voldemort manages to attack Harry at his Uncles house (at the end of the sixth book he said that he was going there one more time before he turned 17 to complete the magic that Dumbledore had started) and Dudley somehow manages to perform magic to save himself.

Yeah, what JulieAnn said is basically what I was gonna say. A D.E. could come and attack at the beginning of Book 7 and they could 'Expelliarmus' on Harry and Dudley pick up his wand and possibly repeat the spell he heard or perhaps another he might've heard over the years. The only problem is that its not Dudley's wand, so it might give some crazy wierd affect.

You know, it's funny that that is exactly how I wrote it in my FF, Surprise Letter to Harry in the finished section! It was Harry's wand Dudley used in desperation....and it saved Harry! You just could be right, although when I wrote it, I never considered the possibility of it really happening!!!!!! Now I can't wait to see if it is true!!!!!!!

Erm... could someone help me? I'm a little confused.
I am quite convinced that DD's death was not an accident. But I don't think DD intended on dying. I can't imagine him leaving his students alone. We all know that he loved his students very dearly, he cannot have left them alone in a time when Voldie is gaining strength again. Could he??

Well, as we all know for fact, Rowling has said Dumbledore IS definately dead, but then, who ever plans to die? Could there be some kind of design involved with his death where he would be even more capable of helping Harry and his students? Well, many theories abound, but we'll just have to wait and see what Rowling has planned in the next book. She said that the reason Dumbledore died was basically so that Harry could stand on his own, so, we'll have to wait to find out exactly what that means!

Me either, I don't believe he's evil. I believe the reson he's so evil looking is becuase of James. He wasn't nice at all, but Lily did treat him nice. I guess there is a soft spott... I'm getting off topic, this is about DD.
I do think Snape and DD set something up. But when Rowling said that he IS DEAD *cry* I began to wonder and think that Snape really is a bad guy.
But how DD died doesn't make sence. He just gave up. You'd think a guy that powerfull wouldn't give up, even after drinking that liquid and his hand. Snape is nothing copaired to DD. They always compaired DD magical abilities to Voldy, not snape. I'd compair Snapes magical abilities to Lupin's, maybe, but not DD. Does anyone understand what i'm talking about, becuase if not, then I'll just stop here

You know, based upon some things I have heard, especially when Dumbledore told Harry about how Snape felt when he found out James and Lily had been killed, basically because of him, that perhaps there was some trueth in the thought that Severus really WAS secretly in love with Lilly!!!!!! That could be where a lot of his anger and bitterness come in....not just at James for marrying Lilly, but at himself for being the reason she died protecting Harry. Dumbledore said he was full of remorse, and that Snape couldn't have known who it was that Voldemort would go after when he heard that part of the prophecy. I think this might play an important part in the next book.

I also think he was in love with Lily... in the SSFC had some theories on this topic...
