The first post will be updated each time a new topic is started.

I was initially a but undecided about her role in the Battle of Hogwarts. I had thought she should have stayed home with her child and mother, rather than leave them, but then I started realising there was no way she would miss the battle. She was so loyal to the Order that I think she would feel so guilty about leaving them to battle without her. And especially if she didn't go, finding out about Lupin dying, it would be too hard. I now admire her courage and strength.

Tonks was too much of an Auror to ever stay at home with her child and miss out fighting the Death Eaters. Also, she did it for a better world for her baby, which I guess any mum would do, so that's pretty admirable that she sacrificed herself for a better world for her son.

I agree with you both. When I first read it in the book, I was like how could she??? Same with Lupin though, him just being a dad, and her with a new baby, for them to both go, or even just one I thought was cruel. But I also know if we try to protect our children from pain, it'll be harder both on them and us.

If neither had gone they'd both have felt awful about letting their friends and family fight, and them stay safe at home. It was their duty, and I'm sure Teddy eventually understood that too. I'm proud of Tonks in fulfilling her duty though she still died, and Lupin and the others as well!

I'm proud of her now, too. I'm not a mother but I can only imagine how that decision would have been. And possibly without them both being there helping the Order, more people could have died. They were both heroic. And that scene where they are reaching out to hold hands, it just gave me chills

But I was pretty bummed that they left out the scene with Teddy at the station. But I feel like they left the whole pregnancy/Teddy being born out too much.

Yeah I would have loved more of it. It was just something small they could have used as a scene filler. Not that they needed one but it would have been great to see how they did it. UGH I hate knowing that when I read the books now, I can't think that it will be interesting to see how they do it in the films. Especially with a lot of Tonks. And the scene in the 6th book I wish Tonks found Harry! I liked having that extra connection with Tonks about her change of appearance and stuff.

One more day and we'll move onto the next discussion topic

Tonks & Lupin

It kind of surprised me that those two got together at first. But I think they were/are the perfect match. Very sweet about her loving him inspite of his being a werewolf and still standing by and waiting for him even when he felt she shouldn't love him. She still stood true even at the end, the hand scene in DH2 was spectacular, you could just see the love the two of them had!

I was also surprised! I didn't think she loved Sirius but I had no idea it was Lupin until it was said. But it made sense, and I was happy.

I admire her for sticking with it, always wanting them to become something more - and even as they did become partners, it was wanting to become even more. I liked that she didn't care at all about the Werewolf, because she loved him. And love is putting aside any of their problems - even if it was fury
In a way I also admire Lupin for leaving to protect Tonks. I mean, she didn't need him to leave and she was always fine, but it takes a strong person to walk away from love to benefit the other person. He wanted to protect Tonks and Teddy.

I totally thought she like Sirius until I found out that they were related. But, I never really got where Lupin came from. How exactly did they know each other, besides being in the order together? I'm sure there is something to this, but I can't figure it out. Were Lupin and Tonks just thrown together for a ship or is there some background story that isn't really completely told.

I really like how Lupin tells Tonks that she doesn't want to marry a werewolf and that he is to old for her. It makes it super cute and shows how he really cares about her. I also like how they were together when they died, that made it perfect. It was either both of them who had to die or none in my opinion. The characters wouldn't have been such great characters if only one of them died. I feel like it just wouldn't be complete. They way they died together and left their son really completed their relationship.

Well from what I understood they didn't know each other before or outside te order. And you know how most the royal family are related in some way 8th cousin 19 times removed or whatever it is haha. I think she, like the readers, fell in love with Lupin just from his nature and personality not even caring about him being a werewolf or anything because he thinks of himself as a victim but won't let anyone else view him as I e which makes him so kind and unselfish to me.

I love Tonks/Lupin. Especially that Tonks decided to be with him even if he was a werewolf and what not, she didn't care much about that and loved him anyway. I felt pretty annoyed that they don't really show them so much, their relationship didn't seem so important in the movies. But I feel like in the books they're sorta like James/Lily. :3

Yeah I felt all sad that they didn't put more of it in the movie. I mean, the whole Tonks going through that phase where Lupin wouldn't be with her wasn't in there at all and I really loved that bit because it showed more of Tonks and the people who didn't read the books but love the movies don't know Tonks at all, which makes me sad. She is a great character!

How She Really Looks

Is her look that she has when she walks around her real look or is it just what she likes herself to look? That's always made me wonder honestly. I know her hair turns red when irritated and often we'd seen her with pink or purple hair. This is hard to say! What is normal for a metamorphmagi? If I were one I see my hair being just the color blue. lol yes I think blue because it's a calming color for me. But what would hers be?

Would her eyes be green and her hair long? What about her nose? Wow this is a topic that makes you think. JK never really said much about Tonks yet, maybe she will soon. What's your thoughts?

I've NEVER thought about that before! Hmm... I honestly have no idea. I don't think it would be the pink we see maybe the mousey brown? I could either imagine her looking like her pureblood family and she doesn't want to look like that. Also, I couldn't answer it when thinking about the movie, because there haven't been facial changes there, but in the book she might have completely changed her face.

True maybe she would have looked more like her mom or dad, rather then with her colorful hair. Did she really have a natural look? Or maybe it looked natural the way a person perceived her?

I think what we see is possibly her version of a perfected canvas. I mean she could have been born with a big nose and she changed it. She could have been large and she changed that. Anything could have been something she didn't like, and was able to change.

But, it was also said that Teddy was also changing his hair colour as an infant, so I mean quite possibly she could have changed her real image from birth. *shruggs*

Tonks' Dream Career

If she hadn't been an auror, I think she would have been perhaps a transfiguration professor. Showing students and those who'd like to alter their appearance. So many people being fascinated with being a metamorphmagus would cause her to want to help them learn to do it themselves I'm sure.

But really I can't picture her anything but an auror!

me either, but you saying she could be a good Transfiguration teacher makes me think absolutely. She has that great personality which clicks with teenage students, so I think she would have made a great professor.

Apart from that, I can only really picture her as an Auror. Or something in the MoM that I don't fully understand, that way I wouldn't have to picture her doing it

^^ I agree with you both. I can only see Tonks as an auror. I think she would be great as a Transfiguration teacher as well with her being a metamorphmagus and all. I think she would be great with the students based soley off of how she was with the clan at dinnertime at Sirius's house.

I could see her working for the Ministry in the Department of Secrets...she always hit me as someone who was smart and noseyish...

I totally do too! Especially the nosey bit, I'm not sure why though. Does she appear nosey in the books, or is it just a Tonks-ish thing?

Tonks seems to be an Auror...period. I couldn't really see her as anything else though you do have a point, I could see her having fun teaching others how to change their appearance because she can change easily. And Department of Mysteries employee also seems super interest, she does seem like she would be nosey but I don't know if it says anything about it in the books.

Or maybe a Hogwarts Counsellor or something. She might have that knack for consoling others, and she has the ability to make people laugh. But Auror through and through, and I think the fact she only got in for her metamorphmagus ability because she was so clumsy just makes it fit so well.
