The Office of Kalen Kennedy https://s26.postimg.cc/qagj7zv7t/IMG_1801.jpg Right next to the Astronomy classroom is Kalen's small private office, which he moved from inside the library. The walls are lined with bookshelves full of his own personal books. You'll notice several books on Latin, violin music and curiously even some old muggle fantasy books as well. |
Steph was really excited about talking to Professor Kennedy. She wanted to show him the universities she had picked out, plus ask him a big favor. The redhead had hoped he wouldn't say no, because she really needed it. Holding her folder against her chest, Steph stopped in front of the professor's office door but hadn't knocked just yet. For some weird reason, she was nervous about speaking with him. Dumb thought but there it was. After what seemed like forever, the Hufflepuff knocked on the office door and waited. |

Thankfully he got a spot on his desk cleared and was just taking a bit of a tea break when he heads someone knock on the door. “Come in! ” He called out as he poured water into his tea cup. |

He answered. Which meant the professor was inside and she could ask him all the serious questions about college and all that. Carefully opening the door, she greet him with a smile. "Hey, professor. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything," Because look at the half messy part of the desk. Or maybe he was just settling in for the term? Nonetheless, Steph sat on the chair with the clean side of the desk. "I have a huge favor to ask, and need advice about colleges," she spoke, carefully setting her folder onto the desk. |
It was Sunday afternoon. 3:30 PM, to be exact. The castle was relatively calm and peaceful, something which was the lukewarm weather outside seemed to reflect. So this seemed like a good time to visit the professor she had been meaning to talk to for a few months. Alice walked into the Astronomy classroom, pausing for a few moments to regard the contents. Other professor's classrooms interested her even more than their offices did. Not that the history of magic professor hadn't seen this classroom several times before. Still, seeing something many times did not make it less interesting. Wondering if he was home, she knocked smartly on his door twice - loud enough to be heard, but not so loud as to sound rude. |

“Wouid you like some tea?”” He asked as he looked at her as she set s folded down and he nodded. “Of course, ask away about the favor and colleges. ” He said as he moved some more papers to make some more empty space and make his desk seem more like well a desk.. And not just a pile of papers. Quote:
He tapped his index finger three times on his desk, before being snapped out of his reverie as he heard a knock on his door and he sat up in his chair and set his cup of tea down on his desk. “Come in please! ” He called |
Oh good, so he was at home. She could do it all today, then. Perfect. Alice placed her right hand on the door and lightly pushed it open. She walked right up to where Kalen was grading papers, and, arms crossed in front of her, gazed vaguely around at the office before settling her gaze back on the professor. "Good evening, Professor Kennedy," she greeted pleasantly, still standing. "Lovely little office you've got here." Her gaze shifted to the two small cats. "Is this a good time to visit? I can come back later if it is inconvenient." |

And with that, she set the Harvard, MSU, MIT, and Princeton college folders on the desk. "After that, can you tell me which you think might be best for astrophysics? I've been stressing over their applications and the entry essays they're asking for. Not to mention more essays for scholarships," Because two were ivy league schools, and the other two were top schools for her field of study. |
SPOILER!!: Alice Kalens eyebrows raised ever so slightly as Alice walked in, he hadn’t been expecting her, but of course colleagues were always welcome in his office. “Hello Alice, how are you? And thanks, I like it. ” He said as he looked around and then noticed her gaze land on his cats, he hoped she wasn’t allergic! “Now is perfect, I was just finishing up some grading, what’s on your mind?” He asked as he pushed some papers aside so his desk looked a little neater and he looked less busy. He was honestly very curious as to why she had dropped by, and hoped he hadn’t done anything wrong. Normally his mind wouldn’t Spring to that first, but after the last year, he was a bit edgy. Could you blame him? “Would you like to sit down? Or have some tea?“ He asked softly. SPOILER!!: Steph “Tea it is! What kind would you like? I have Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chai and some raspberry. ” He rattled off the names quickly as he reached into a drawer and pulled out a clean, dark green tea cup. Chai tea was a rather recent addition to his tea collection. He smiled for a moment before shaking his head and focusing on Stephanie. Kalen leaned back in his chair for a moment at her question, his hand on his chin as he thought for a few moments. “Well, I myself went to Cambridge University, for their Astrophysics, so I will forever have a soft spot for that school. I also worked there, so I could put in a good word for you, if you decide you like that one.” He said with a nod. “I really think it has one of the best programs. ” He looked down at the brochures she set on the table and his eyebrows raised a bit. “Well, MIT, Harvard and Stanford would be my best bets if you are leaving Europe. Their programs are the best in the world, with Cambridge not far behind them. ” He said with a smile. |
"Tea would be lovely, thank you," she said as she graciously accepted his invitations to sit and to have tea. Of course she sat with a straight back, something she always did no matter where she was sitting or for what occasion. Good health habits and all that. So far this visit was going very well. Kalen did not seem mad about what happened last year - at least he did not outwardly appear to be mad at her. She wouldn't blame if he was, as she had been a Julian loyalist and had even been present when the man was fired. Making matters even worse was her lecture in the joint History of Magic/Muggle studies lesson last year about how chocolate was poison and that Kalen was therefore bringing poison to class. Did Kalen know she did that? "I actually have something for you, here let me take it out..." And she took a box of hot chocolate powder from her purse and gently handed it to him. "I don't drink hot chocolate myself, but I researched to be sure it was of a high quality. I hope you like it." Would he recognize the symbolic gift as an apology? She wondered this a little anxiously as she waited for her promised tea. |

He began filling it with water from his wand as he waited for her to pick her tea so he could heat it up! “You have something for me? ” Kalen arched an eyebrow as he looked up at her, fully unsure of why she would want to give him something, he wasn’t even fully aware that she liked him. After all she had seemed so happy when he had gotten fired last year, but perhaps time had changed her opinion of him? He wasn’t sure, but at least he could be kind. He smiled as he saw what the gift was, an apology obviously. Seeing as this was the stuff that had gotten him fired. “Thanks, I’m sure it will be lovely, I’m looking forward to drinking it. ” He said with a warm smile as he looked at her. |
