This is where notices and announcements for History of Magic classes will be posted.

It is a board than once served Professor Forrester and is situated on the 7th floor. No longer is it full of interesting happenings, or upcoming astronomy classes, instead it has been cleared off and currently holds a single note.




History of Magic will be held in the Astronomy tower until further notice.

History of Magic classes will be divided up from now on.

1-4th years will attend the BASIC classes

5th-7th years will attend the ADVANCED classes.


On a case by case basis, 1-4th years who show a particular aptitude for HoM, will be allowed to intend the ADVANCED classes instead of the BASIC classes, however 5th-7th years MUST attend the ADVANCED level classes if they are to take the subject at all.

Extra tuition can be arranged if necessary.


The first BASIC class will be held:

The first ADVANCED class will be held:

Monday 21st September 10pm GMT

Due to my absence and completely full inbox *eyes everyone*, the due date for the HoM BASIC homework has been extended until 10pm GMT on Tuesday 29th September.

The ADVANCED class will resume shortly, sorry for the trouble and the delay.

NOTICE:

Please be sure to submit your homework in the format requested. Credit will no longer be given if the questions are morphed into one giant essay, and likewise if an essay is requested then an essay is required.

Also, be aware that I too have access to textbooks. Do NOT copy and paste from the textbook and submit it as your answer. From now on there will be NO warnings about this.

1st offence: assignment credit will be cut in half, letter grade will remain the same.

2nd offence: no points earned, void grade, possible detention.

HoM ADVANCED Homework 1(5th-7th years and ADVANCED students only)
Part A /10
Choosing a witch or wizard from the list, write an essay about how they were motivated by power, fear or both. Minimum of three and maximum of five paragraphs.
For full credit, include supporting evidence from history, ensure your stance is clear, source your references and justify your argument.


Part B /5
Research an example of pureblood elitism in history, it may tie in to the subject of your essay if you wish, but does not have to. In either case it is to be presented as a seperate answer no longer than two paragraphs.

Open for 1st- 4th years except for those who have been granted permission to attend the ADVANCED lesson which will start upon the completion of the BASIC class.

HoM Basic Lesson 2 (1st -4th years)

The Elder Wand

a) Draw a timeline of the Elder Wand and include the following: /5

- Each of the known Masters of the Deathstick
- at least 5 well known events in Wizarding History
- Accurate dates

b) choose any two Masters of the Wand and write one paragraph on how they are connected to one another. /3

c) In one paragraph, explain what makes the Elder Wand unique. /2

/10 points with extra credit available for outstanding assignments.

All students taking the ADVANCED History of Magic class should report to the observatory with notes from previous classes, textbooks, parchment and spare quills.
