Victoria Smith Minister's Office | Learn to speak Arabic May those beautiful yesterdays ease today's sorrow Hello everyone . I’ve created this thread because I’ve noticed that we do have games about the Arabic alphabet and numbers but foreign people can’t really learn Arabic counting on those games.
Therefore , I’ve decided to teach Arabic here to those who want to, you can call me Roro ( although it’s not a very proper name for a teacher but it’s ok) And I won’t be the only teacher, there are other teachers such as( Magical soul , DFTBA) and perhaps other people who would like to help just send me a message if you’d like to be one of the teachers , so we- teachers- can organize between each other outside the thread so students won’t be confused.
And as for students if you don’t understand something or have questions or wonders ask away and don’t be shy .
Surly we will keep in mind that students have real schools and classes in their lives so we won’t distract you. But it isn’t an excuse to be lazy though.
So who's in?? |

Victoria Smith Minister's Office | May those beautiful yesterdays ease today's sorrow oh that was me making things up I wanted it to be proper.
Anyway, I've been preparing lessons very hard I hope I did it well And don't faint it's gonna be a long post Lesson 1#
First of all you need to know that in Arabic we write from right to left not like English.
We shall start with the alphabet of course I’ll show you how it’s written and pronounced compared with English words . And I don’t think that your Keyboard have Arabic letters Anyway we will figure something out. P.S: you will notice that Arabic letters have names other than sounds but don’t worry they are so much like the sounds .
You’ll see that I’ll use something like ‘ this is instead of a sound called Hamza it’s like( i) in English in the words : Is, itch . and it’s written like that ء .
The Arabic language have 28 letters which are; اIt’s called Alf, and its sound is like A in English . Example: hat NOT like hate. ب it’s called Ba’ ,and its sound is like B . ت it’s called Ta’ , its sound is like T. ث it’s called tha’ , its sound is like th in the word : theater ج it’s called geem , its sound is like G. ح it’s called ha’ , well, there isn’t any sound like it in English it’s NOT like H but it sounds a little like it . خ it’s called kha’ , there isn’t any sound like it in English but there is in Spanish I guess. Ex: Julio in Spanish د it’s called Dal ,its sound is like D. ذ it’s called thal , its sound is like th in the word weather ( don’t mix up between ثandذ ) رit’s called Ra’ , its sound is like R. زit’s called Zay , its sound is like Z. س it’s called Seen ,its sound is like S. شit’s called sheen , its sound is like Sh in the word : shake

Aw, Roro, I see you went to great lengths to make it proper! You're amazing!
Anyways. *takes out pen and paper and starts to copy it down* Hello, Professor Roro! I know that we read/write from right to left and the alphabet well enough but a good review is always nice! Are we doing from س to ي as well or just sticking to these for now? I'm so excited!

*nods* I see. Ok so for the first part I messed up my lettering.
Now the second part, I knew I was screwed. True/False is like my greatest weakness for some reason even if it's like super easy.

Hi! I know this is kind of random, but I have a couple questions and I didn't know where to turn. I live in Egypt and I don't speak Arabic. I've come across this word a couple of times on facebook. I'm not sure what it means so I don't know if it's bad or not... so I'll put it in a spoiler:
Can you tell me what it means? I'm not sure if it's Egyptian Arabic or what. Thanks so much for your help!

I second Manal. "Zabat" means "it worked"..
And it's spelt like this:
زبط
Is it the right word?
