Just past the Golden Gates there is a desk and an alarming looking machine. There is always a security officer and a wand-weigher located here, ready to inspect and register the wands of visitors and employees alike.

The machine itself are large and bulky and made of brass. There are tubes and dials, meters and whistles and upon presenting your wand to the wand-weigher, it will be checked by this machine and registered to you. The ministry is charmed so that if a wand is fired, some information can be gathered about who might have been responsible. It isn't an exact art.

On the bright side if you lose your wand or someone else takes it, the wand-weigher can find out.

The Security Office, not very far away, looks out over this area and there are always Security personnel ready to respond in an emergency.

ooc: This thread is manned but you may not always get a response. You are welcome to RP through but you must not RP for the wand-weigher or security officers. If you are confused about this please feel free to ask a ministry department head for clarification.

Toni walk toward to Ministry security, she was to do it, registered her wand as an employee, at least she of it, sooner or later, Toni is a part of the Ministry.

"Hello, I am Toni Hunters, I'm here to see Mr. Bole of DMLE" Toni asks the person behind the counter.

Julia entered Level 8 and walked graciously past the doors. She smiled at the security personnel. Wand Check, ridiculous.. Anyway.. thinking she checked for her wand her little bag. Oh ya, wands always handy, pockets Juls! smiling to herself she took her wand with a swish and handed it to the person, waiting for her wand clearance. Getting the wand checked meant you're into the Ministry, is it?

She cleared her throat and said, "It's Springy, Ebony Core, Hippogriff Feather, 12" before he could ask. Help, maybe.

Gabriel had decided, for today at least, until his new wand-weigher's and security offers could be placed, that he would sign in the people arriving himself. So it was with a reasonably cheery face that he greeted the young woman who approached.

Flicking his wand at the quill on the desk, it scribbled down the woman's name as she said it. "Good morning, Miss Hunters. I'll direct to you Mr Bole's office in a moment, first a couple of things: could I have your wand please, to weigh and register?" Gabe held his hand out and took a quick look to check the machine was ready. "And are you visiting or a new employee?" Because the paperwork was quite different, so it was. Nose to the grindstone, as they say.

This one had her wand in her bag? Interesting. Nodding his thanks for the description of said wand, Gabriel took it out of her hands and placed it on the waiting machine. Twiddling a few knobs and pressing a few buttons, he hummed quietly to himself as it came up with the same thing she'd told him. At least she was honest.

Quill scribbling down at the relevant information, Gabe took it back off the machine. Before he would hand it back, however, he had to ask the questions. "Name and purpose, please. Are you visiting or here to work? If it's work, I require the name of your department." So he could record it, and tell her where it was. If she didn't know already.

After passing through the Atrium, having wished a great year--a year in his new department at the fountain, Enrique was now at the security point. They had one of these machines in Spanish Embassy and ministry, though he still couldn't see the exact reason to pass through them. Nevertheless, he got his wand out and waited for someone to assist.

Iggy was here. Ready for his first day at work. He had all his paperwork in his bag. He approached the security checkpoint, as he needed to check in for the first time.

Having already passed several people through, and on their way to the relevant level, Gabe filed away their details in the cabinet by the desk.

"Name, wand and reason for being here, please," Gabriel smiled at the next man in line, quill poised and ready to take the next lot of notes - and machine tinkling away behind him. "If you are here to work, I'll need the name of the department you've been assigned to, as well."

Alot of new people and/or visitors today, it would appear. Gabriel had the questions down pat now. Of course he wasn't going to say it the same every time. That would get boring. "Good morning. Could I have your wand for weighing and inspection, please?" His hand shot out again and he gave the man a gentle grin. "And I will also need your name, purpose for being here, and also your department if work is your intention."

Enrique smiled politely at the man. "Hello, mister," he greeted shortly, even if he seemed to be down to the business as soon as possible. He handed him his wand as he answered the questions. Hopefully, he didn't miss any.

"Enrique Brandon, my wand is from olive tree, Catalonian Fireball scale core..." The height he didn't know, since they used inches. The machine would tell anyway. "...and I work for Wizengamot. This is my first day, actually."

Ignatius smiled and nodded, pulling his wand from his bag. He happily handed it over to the gentleman. "Good morning." He was hoping he'd get his wand back. "Ignatius Potter. I am here to work. Ummm in the Magical Law Enforcement Department. I think." That was the right one. Wasn't it? He had read the paper over and over again. He had it memorized. But in the moment, he had completely forgotten.

Ahhh, a worker. The quill did all it should, scratching away at the form, filling in everything the man was saying. "Thank you." Gabriel took the wand and placed it in the first compartment, twisting the dial until he'd got what he needed, before placing it on the scales. Once he'd noted the length, weight, core and wood, he wrote it down himself next to the man's other details. Spanish dragon breed. Lovely.

Removing the wand he handed it back with another smile. "Welcome to the MLE, Mr Brandon. You are based on level two," if he didn't already know. "Your information will be stored here in case there is ever an incident with your wand." Stealing, firing, etc. "The floo's direct to the MLE offices are down there on your left." And he should know, because he came down in them

Gabriel took the wand with a gracious smile, and placed it down so the machine could do it's business. He took the quill himself this time and noted down the man's name. He was just about fill in the department when he stopped. Looking up from the form Gabe quirked an eyebrow. "You think?" He didn't know for SURE where he was meant to be going? "You might wish to check your papers again, just to be sure. Do you have them with you?" He was going to be helpful before he got to overly suspicious. The man seemed innocent enough.... "I don't want to fill this in incorrectly, and send you to the wrong level, after all." He was Head of Security. It wouldn't look good.

Enrique placed the wand inside his arm holster as he smiled back. "Thank you, mister. Have a good day." And with that, he turned to the direction the man showed to finally see his new work place.

Iggy pulled his papers out of his bag, and chuckled, "It is Magical Law Enforcement. I did have it right." Well he couldn't be anywhere else really. Except maybe security.

He put the papers back in his bag, beside his camera. He might need that later. "I am not sure where I am meant to go though. Is there a list in the elevator?"

"You too," Gabriel replied, folding the now filled out form and placing it in the MLE section of the cabinet. And another one down.

Gabriel could read the papers upside down, it was a handy little trick of his, and knew the man was being truthful. He wrote it down, adding all the details the wand machine had picked up. "Gracias," he smiled, putting the quill down and picking up the wand. Taking a quick look at it, he then handed it back with a smile.

"The departments are all listed next to their levels, yes," he nodded, folding his fingers together and placing his hands on the desk. "However we MLE employees have direct access floo's to the level two offices, so you can use those if you wish. Down the end and to your left," Gabriel pointed as if directing traffic. "Welcome to the Ministry, Mr Potter."

Folding the parchment with a sharp crease, he placed it away and got comfortable on his seat, ready for the next person to come along.

Iggy smiled, and nodded. Down and to the left. He turned to see where he was pointing. Ok then. He'd rather not floo it. It would ruin his suit. And on the first day, it wasn't good. "I think I am going to take the lift."

He took his wand back, and returned it to his bag. He had fitted a special wand pocket to his bag, for ease of access. "Thank you. Have a nice day, Sir."

Olivia walked up to the security check point she was nervous she had just recieved an owl saying she had been offered a job at the ministry of magic, he long brown hair bounced from side to side in a pony tail, she clutched her wand tightly in her left hand it was helping with the nerves as she was slightly shaking this was a big deal for her. Olivia walked up to the desk and tried to sound confident "Hello my name is Olivia Black i am here to see Evander Bole"

Harvey got to the checkpoint. Picking his wooden cane up and releasing the wand from inside He handed it to the man. Taking his left hand and putting it on a railing to support his bad leg He had overheard the man asking a few people ahead him questions pertaining to working here and their wand Might as well make it easy for him and answer his questions but he can ask them Harvey thought . Harvey D. Gunter, I'm starting today in Magical Games and Sports, and my wand is a 10 in. Ironwood with Manticore Hair as it's core. He told the man behind the crazy contraption they called a security checkpoint.

Toni smile to Gabriel, "I'm about to enter as new employee, Mister, Toni say it with confident that she will be hired, even she is for interviews of this Mr. Bole" --she drew her wand, and handed over to Gabriel. "It is 11.5 inches, swishy pine, phoenix feather, very handy" Toni said unwillingly.

Sapphira walked to the counter, and quickly get in line to register her wand and officially become an employee.

Gabriel didn't blame him. The floo's were not always the cleanest. And sometimes it was a nicer ride in the lift anyway. Nodding in response to the comment, Gabe lifted a hand in a slight goodbye wave. "Have a good first day, Mr Potter."

Well, it would seem Evander had hired alot of people lately. Mind you, the MLE was the biggest department, so it wasn't all that suprising. And this one was shaking. "No need to be nervous ma'am," Gabe smiled at her. Unless you have something to hide... "Is it just a visit to see Mr Bole, or are you here to work?" he asked, quill poised in his right hand to take down her answer.

His left hand went forward, palm up, to take her wand from her. "If you wouldn't mind. I need to weigh, inspect and register it for you." Although it looked like it would take something good to prise it out of her hand.

Ohh, this one came prepared. That was always helpful. Gabriel took the wand with a grateful nod, and placed it on the machine. Twiddling a few knobs, he wrote down it's details, then filled in the information the man had given him. The wand info matched what his machine was telling him, so that was all good.

Removing the wand, Gabriel handed it back to the man with a smile. "Games and Sports is on level seven, Mr Gunter. So you don't have far to go from here. I hope you have a good first day."

It was always nice when people could provide details of their wand without him asking. The machine told him, yes, but at least people still remembered everything about them.

New employee, lovely. With the machine whirring in the background, Gabriel noted down all her details. While he waited for the wand to finish being weighed, he filed away the other forms he'd done previously. Finally, he removed the wand and handed it back to the woman with a smile. "There we go, Miss Hunters. You will find Mr Bole's office on level two. Have a good day ma'am."

"Good morning. Wand, name and reason for being here, please," Gabriel asked, almost metronomically. As soon as the wand weighers arrived for work, he was setting them up down here. He really didn't envy them having to ask the same questions of every person. It could get quite repetitive.

Toni smile back, "It's Toni, I prefered to be called Toni, and thank you very much" Toni say before to the lift

Olivia smiled meekly at him thinking you'll be fine you'll be fine she replied "i'm here to work" she pulled out her letter that Evander Bole had sent her and handed it over to the man. Olivia still clutched her wand tightly and when he asked to register her wand she handed it over to him saying "it's a pine 7 and a quarter with a unicorn hair" she gave a small smile and hoped that her nerves would subsize soon.

"11½ inch walnut wood wand with Phoenix Feather core. Rather soft too. My name is Sapphira Adams, and I'm getting my job as the new wand-weigher."

Julia watched as he placed her wand and turned a few buttons. She was staring at the machine intently that his voice made her jerk. "Oh, I'm Julia-" she murmured. "Julia William Smith, here as a new employee in the Magical Law Enforcement Department." she said, hoping that was enough. So, who was he? Julia extended her hand to take her wand. She cleared her throat, "And you are--?" she asked him with a little smile.

There was no need for him to read the letter, but as the woman so kindly gave it to him for perusal, he did. Scanning it he saw Van had placed her in the IUMO, where Ryan Chambers was the head. Hmmm. He was tempted to say 'poor woman', but refrained. Instead he handed it back with a "Thank you."

Weighing the wand only took a few minutes, and Gabriel made notes of all the information his machine was giving him. Folding the card in half he flicked his own wand and sent it flying into the correct place in the cabinet behind him. Placing the lady's wand on the desk in front, he slid it over to her with a smile. "All done. Lifts are down there, and you are based on level two. Have a good day."

Wand-weigher. Those words were like music to Gabe's ears. He broke out into a broad grin as he looked at the woman standing opposite him. "My new wand weigher! I've been expecting you, Miss Adams. Welcome. I'm Gabriel Vartann, your head of security." He stretched out a hand ready to shake hers, before taking her wand with the other and doing the necessary with it, making sure she could see what he was doing, and what he was writing down.

Once done with her form he filed it away. "Did Evander ask for you to speak with him upon arrival? If not, I can put you straight to work." Which he was hoping to do.

Gabriel kept one eye on the woman as he weighed her wand, amused that she seemed to find the machine so fascinating. But as soon as she hesitantly answered his questions, his eyes fully flicked down to the form he was filling in. "We've had alot of new recruits to the MLE lately," he smiled, looking back up momentarily. "Welcome to the team, Miss Smith."

The clearing of the throat automatically made Gabriel think she was going to speak again, so he fixed his eyes on her, waiting for it. The form, meanwhile, was flying off into the cabinet and into the correct compartment. Who was he? "Gabriel Vartann, head of security. Nice to meet you," he replied with a pleasant grin, when she eventually spoke.

Sapphira shook his hand and thought that Mr Vartann's hand is quite hard. She carefully took pictures in her head on what should be done if she is him.

"Oh, okay... I haven't met Mr Evander yet, but in the letter, he said that-" she searched her bag for the envelope that has been in it for 2 days, opened it, and read the piece of parchment in it aloud: "You will be directed to level 2 and either the department head or a senior member of your division will help you settle in and assign you to your workstation and give you an assignment."
She took a deep breath before continuing.
"So, uhm, am I supposed to g to level 2?"
