Rubbing the bridge of his nose some more, Aron was beginning to wish that drool collecting was still a thing. At least that wasn't something that put his department at an immediate disadvantage. This lab incident was going to make Derek lose focus since he would not be able to use his lab and would have to use the one on Level 2 if anything arose. Fantastic.
"Good. Jade, Cora, and Ashley will assist Derek in the lab. I expect a list on my desk by Friday of what was salvageable along with an assessment of the damages. Angela and Natasha," he said as he turned to his two liaisons. "I need one of you to go down to the Speciality Area and meet with the Department Head there about getting some maintenance and repair people up here. Try to schedule that for sometime next week."
Oh good, there was Alani with his coffee. Good personal assistant.
Accepting it with a temporary look of relief, he took a deep sip from his mug and then turned his attention back to everyone in the room. This certainly was not how he wanted to start out his time as Department Head, frustrated, flustered, and mildly furious. But no matter.
"Now that that is out of the way..." he said, slightly grumbling under his breath. "We have some new faces here to the department, including my own." But he had already covered that so he was not going to repeat his brief introduction. "Before we get down to more official business, I would like everyone to introduce themselves. Just a brief introduction will do. Your name, your position within the department, and anything else you feel vital that your coworkers know."
Meanwhile he would take these few minutes it too drink his coffee and calm down.
Bradley stayed quiet throughout all the speeches by their department head. He wasn't chosen to help with the clean up, he wasn't up about that though so that was good, but now they were suppose to introduce themselves to the group? He didn't have a problem with that either, he wasn't one of those people who kept everything to themselves, just.....nothing.
Sigh.

Jade frowned as she watched Aron talk. He looked so stressed out. She felt so sorry for him but she definitely thought that he handled himself well considering that it was one of his first days as the head and the whole explosion thing.
She nodded in acknowledgment when he mentioned her name.
Later when the introductions started, she glanced with a nod and a smile at Bradley, whom she vaguely knew but never really met as well as Howard, a new employee. She sure hoped that he would lighten up a little-- they weren't going to bite!
When no one else stepped up and introduced themselves, Jade did:
"Hey everyone. I'm Jade Gemstone, a Reminisciator. I'm originally from South Africa but I've been living in Britain for the last six years, working here in the Accidents and Catastrophes department."

Why did the blond guy - Bradley - mention he had a sister? At least the other dude had an excuse. Did they just casually talk about family members in this department? Were they really so desperate that they felt the need to bring up siblings while they were waiting in the queue to get some coffee or something?
She hesitated for a moment, not wanting to stand up at the same time as someone else because that'd be awkward at it's very best. And thank Merlin she did because that Jade person stood up just as she was about to.

When the other woman was finished Sephy rose, choosing to ignore the chair scraping the floor which made a dreadful sound like nails on a blackboard. "I'm Persephone... Walters. I'm a potion identification and recovery specialist. And um... yeah." She very nearly mentioned her hedgehog but that'd just make her seem weird. Who talked about their pets at a conference?
Probably the same people who talked about their sister but Sephy was going to keep that particular conversation topic in her back pocket for when she wanted coffee.

We live in Leeds.”
He sat again, cheeks flushed ever so slightly, his heart thumping hard in his chest.

And then Persephone. Who he had at least sort of partially met. Sort of. Potions was it?

Nods for you, Bossman. The blonde gave a faint smile to Jade and Cora as well as one to Derek for reasons. They'd need to get started promptly on this, yeah? She'd seek them out after the meeting, though. Or maybe Derek should do the seeking seeing as he was in charge of this.

The blonde waited and watched for her opportunity to pop up from her seat, not shy about speaking in front of her coworkers. She also wanted to get it over with so she could have some coffee. Explosions in the lab did wonders on a person's nerves, you know.
Oh. Her turn? The blonde stood up and smoothed her dress before speaking. "Hello everyone. I'm Ashley Green, a Potion Identification and Recovery Specialist. I look forward to getting to know everyone." There. Polite, short, and sweet.

The room filled up quickly enough as more employee’s entered the room, some new and some returning employees that Natasha knew quite well. When Aron entered the meeting started with practical matters related to the lab explosion. Feeling that she wasn’t exactly the best person suited to take part in the investigation, she sat back in her chair and waited, hoping someone would volunteer. She let out a held breath as Cora, Ashley and Jade freely volunteered to help Derek in the lab.
Looking up as she heard her name Natasha volunteered not sure whether Angela wanted to or not. "I'll go down to the specialty area and talk to the department head about our need for a maintenance and repair crew to come fix the lab.”
Scribbling the appointment down in her planner she heard how Aron moved on to the introductions part which was always customary after a placement. After Ashley finished her introduction Tasha stood up in her full length and said in bright bubbly tone. "Hello everyone. I’m Natasha Warrington I work as a spell researcher. I’m also a member of the experimental charms committee and one of the liaisons for our department."
Finishing her little speech she sat down. She didn’t mention her family relations with two department heads. It didn’t seem like something you shared in a first meeting.
Keeping mum till now, she just smiled at Brad's response as her new bossman walked in. Um.. to assist in researching the cause of the blast? Not likely.. Researching was something that Angela never had the patience for.
Then hearing her name, her ears perked up. Oh.. Natasha had already volunteered. Alright then. She had no problem with that. This work, she could do. She liked to do. "Okay then" she replied, nodding at Tasha. Angela could volunteer for some other work, if the need arose.
And then came her turn at introductions. She stood up, looked around at the people in the room, then spoke, "Hey everyone, I'm Angela Dawson, spell patents agent. I'm the other one of the liaisons for this department. And yeah, I'm also a member of the Experimental Charms Committee"
Having said her introductions, she sat down, scribbling something in pad, wanting to get out and do some work.

"Oliver Jenkins. Event Concealment Advisor." It had a rather nice ring to it, didn't it? "I like moonlit walks along the beach and candlelit dinners..." He let out a snort of laughter before quickly covering it with a cough. Always the joker, was young Oliver.
"Sorry, just a bit of a joke there." Because that was his worst idea of a good date. Anyhoo an interesting fact about himself..."I was once a Professor at Hogwarts." His chair dropped back onto all four legs as he gave his fellow workers a cheery grin.

Clearing her throat a little before she spoke she said, "Sorry to interrupt here, but I'm looking for Aron." She glanced around the room, looking to see who looked like they were in charge, but not wanting to assume when she didn't know the new department head here yet.

Another one. Liaison. Spell Researcher... well that was interesting enough. Exceedingly bubbly given the business with the lab though right? Or was that just him? Rusty matched the face with the name. Natasha. Okay. He nodded and then looked to see who was gonna speak up next.

Event Concealment. So he'd be working with this dude a bit. Oliver here was prevention and he, Rusty, was all about the fixing of things when someone like Oliver messed up. Good times ahead then.
Rusty grinned a little at the lonely hearts quip, given he'd done much the same, tongue in cheek, on his Ministry application. A Hogwarts professor though? Well that was an interesting career change.

Aron's nerves were beginning to settle thanks to the coffee in his hand. Althea was right, SO much better than on level 2. He nodded at each employee as they said their piece. Nothing new to him had been said thus far as all this information was on file - minus the new guy and his romantic walks on the beach bit. He should ask his wife about him since they had both been at Hogwarts. Hmm.
He was about to take another sip from his mug when....

Introductions! Fun. Though Cora wasn't too sure about what else would be vital information besides her name and job. So she probably wouldn't be adding anything else. Considering what some of the people were adding - like family they had and where they were from - she didn't think she would do the same. It was vital for people to know she grew up mainly in America and moved back here just a year or two ago, or that she a whole heck of a lot of siblings.
Nope, name and job were all that were really necessary in her opinion.
She was about to give them since it seemed like it could be her turn, but then someone else entered the meeting room and was asking for Aron. Oh, hmm...this might be important so...maybe she should wait for him to take care of that before continuing intros? Yeah, that seemed good.

"Of course, I'll just wait out here while you get back to your meeting, just let your team know I'll be waiting for them," she said. "There wont be any more interruptions," she said with a smile, at least not from me she thought.
She resigned herself to leaning slightly against the wall while contemplating what might have happened here, without actually seeing the scene yet. Maybe after she got through here she'd actually be able to reach her desk, by now, parts of it probably needed a good dusting.

Not to mention that their receptionist could also keep an eye on her while he was busy in the conference room.

"Forgive the brief intrusion," he said after clearing his throat. Then his eyes were on Derek. "Law Enforcement has sent someone up to assist you, a Temperance Gray. I instructed her not to touch anything unless instructed to do so by you. Use her however you see fit during your investigation."
And now his mug was empty. This was going to be a five cups of coffee morning, wasn't it?
"There are other important matters I need to discuss, so those of you who have not said your brief introductions please do so now."

Although he supposed that he could just go get some more himself since he was about ready to just call the meeting a done deal. He had another mountain of paperwork to tackle now that the lab was a mess on top of everything else.
"Alright, now that you all at least know each other's names and which division people are working at, down to some business. Those of you who are investigating the lab should get started right away." As in once they were dismissed. "There is also some official business for you Rustin and you Oliver. Transportation is having some serious issues with the floo network and there have been some incidents of wizards popping out of fireplaces they ought not to be," he said while he reached into a folder and handed his new hire a list of addresses. "The clever wizard who popped out of that first address was able to convince the muggle children who saw him that he was Santa who had just come early, but I would prefer that they have no recollection at all." Yeah? He knew what to do. "Two witches just this morning popped out at the cafe just down the street as well." So, go fix that. "As for you, Oliver, I need you to monitor the muggle mass media for any more of these instances. Both of you should report to Schultz's office on Level 6. Let her know that I sent you there to offer assistance containing the problem."
Let's see...lab, go get some maintenance people from the Speciality Area, floo network woes...he was pretty sure that was it for the time being. Sweet Merlin first day in the office and already it felt like the wizarding world was blowing up in his face.
"Alright, let's all get to work then. Those of you without a specific at the moment should use the practice room to hone your skills and if anyone from Potion Accident Response Team that wishes to work on potions should go use the lab on Level 2 for the time being. I'll be sending the Department Head a memo about that shortly."
Alright. He was done and going to go get more coffee. So it was out of his seat and towards the door, pausing for a moment as he passed by Alani. "Oh, and your job description has a few new changes to it. Watering plants and making sure my coffee mug is always filled with coffee are essential," he said with a wink as he held open the door for people to exit.
Get to work now everyone! Proper assignment listings would be on the announcement board later.

As the hotness known as Aron came back in and mentioned something about a MLE person coming to help out with the lab, one Temperance Grey, who she was, Jade had no idea but she was sure that they would get along well.
And unsurprisingly enough, people wouldn't quite in the mood to do the "hey, I am..." thing anymore.
And interesting about the floo network fiasco-- she was always saying that it was a risky way to travel and she was glad that she wasn't given that job. Jaaaa what a pain in the neck.
After Aron had finished talking, she headed over to Derek, Ashley, and Cora. "Should we go and get started?"
Best to be honest and direct about everything especially around Derek. It would be painful for him to see his beloved lab in pieces sure but Jade didn't believe in coddling him too much.

And she was among those who still needed to introduce herself, so after the other person who she was supposed to be giving a tour to today before the explosion happened spoke up, Cora decided it was her turn. "My name's Cora Greenwell, and I'm a Development Research Assistant." Short, sweet, and to the point. That was all that was necessary.
So now the DH moved the meeting on, and she continued to listen, though what he said about transportation issues didn't seem to be anything that she had to attend to. Still, she paid attention he was nice to look at after all, and then it was over. Whoa, that had gone by fast, hadn't it?
Cora stood to leave but had hardly left her seat when Jade approached her, Derek, and Ashley. Ah yes, the lab stuff. "I'm ready." Were the other two?

He glanced at that Oliver dude and gave him a quick nod that sort of meant: '...shall we go now then', but also: '...any idea where the Transportation department is?'
