Work Area and Cubicles
Ministry Advisors, Media Liaison, Internal Liaison Supervisor, Department Liaisons

Just beyond the front desks is an extra large area containing the cubicles for employees in the Minister of Magic's Office. This is the place where the desks for Ministry Advisors, the Media Liaison, and the Internal Liaison Supervisor can be found. Extra cubicles are available for Department Liaisons to use if and when they find the need for them. Despite the fact that the room is full of used and unused cubicles, there's still adequate space to move around in or meet with other employees if the need arises. A large closet area spans along the back wall, providing room for employees to hang their coats and jackets or store office supplies and other work-related items. Lastly, the atmosphere of the room is very bright and friendly, as it's well lit and is decorated with beautiful paintings lining the walls and gorgeous plants positioned into corners.

The cloaked woman hated being late so she made sure to not be. With a swift purposeful walk she made her way through the corridor and lobby entering into the cubical area. Scanning the room she realized no one had made it in yet. Slackers. You’d think working in the Minister’s office people would try to make in impression.

Medea herself did not necessarily like Borry but her opinion of him was not relevant. He was her boss and the Minister.

Looking left and right she decided that because she was the first one here she could pick whatever desk she wanted. Not to mention she was the Internal Liaison Supervisor. Turning she choose the desk to the immediate left of the entrance into the cubical area. This way she could keep track of people coming and going.

The dark haired woman opened the small bag attached to her wrist and retrieved parchment, quills and other work related items. There was nothing of a personal effect on the desk. In her opinion this was a work place, not a place for frilly and personal adornment. Hmpf.

Sitting down she prepared the documents that would be placed in the permanent files.

Having just passed through the front desk area, Alexander decided to have a quick look around before retreating to his office. It had been years since he'd been employed in the Ministry of Magic, and he imagined that there had been a pretty large turnover in employees during that time.

He poked his head into the general work area, spotting a woman sitting alone already filling out paperwork. Clearing his throat, he stepped inside. There were tasks he already had lined up for several of the employees, and if this woman was one of those employees, he ought to at least be able to put a name with a face.

"Alexander Greingoth," he introduced. "Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic."

you live your life just once, so don't forget about a thing called love.

Ryuu entered the work area, looking around with interest. Hmm, cozy and look, a couple of people! Perhaps he should have walked slower. Being one of the first to show up to work was never really one of his favourite things to do. Buuuuuuuut, new job..new country. Perhaps being early was best.

Hmmm..where was the coffee?...

Warren had just Floo'd into atrium, and within seconds was already at the Minister of Magic's Office. His Face Buried in the morning edition of the Daily Prophet. He didn't miss a step, Warren easily made it through lifts and doors, he flawlessly weaved his way through the crowd of people, never once taking his face out of the Newspaper.

As he walked into the Ministry work areas, Warren moved towards his desk. still with the newspaper in front of his face, Warren took off his coat, putting it on the back of his chair, and his briefcase on the desk, Warren sat down, and tisked at certain articles. As he turned the page, yet another picture of Lord Borr sat there with yet another article.

Didn't these Journalists talk to each other? Wasn't One article enough? Maximum two... But Three? Three Whole Articles about the New Minister of Magic? It was a waste of good news space?

Warren Quickly Flipped to the Sports Section to get his mind off the nonsense. Ah there it was. Quidditch. The one thing Still uncorrupted by the rest of the news.

Hearing someone enter the room she didn’t look up, that is until he cleared his throat. Her head rose from her paper work. Medea had no clue who this was, how could she?! This was the first day. Duh. She stood and took a couple steps toward him, her cloak swooshed at her ankles. She hadn’t been sure how casual this office was, and would rather have worn the cloak and been completely proper than not worn it and been reprimanded. When she worked in the Italian Ministry cloaks were required. They were less distracting than wearing street clothes. The Italian Minster believed people were more productive in cloaks.

The woman held out her hand and greeted the man who she was sure was one of her bosses, ”Medea Ward Sir, the Internal Liaison Supervisor.” Speaking of which she hadn’t been notified who exactly she’d be supervising.

Well, straight away to business was her policy, ”I’ve just completed my preliminary paper work,” with a flick of her wand her paperwork flew out the door and toward the HR department. ”Do you know of anything else I could start on for you?” She offered her services. Always be available - that's how you get to the top. There was no smile on the woman’s face; there was nothing really funny or happy to smile about. With that said she also wasn’t completely cold and uninviting – she just had her business face on. Duh.

She noticed the two men walk into the large room. They made no point to greet anyone or introduce themselves, so she granted them with the same courtesy. Ignore. She turned back to Mr. Greingoth and awaited his instruction.

After having met Mr. Greingoth, Senoir Undersecretary, Violet walked herself into the Work Area. As there was no one yet at the front desk, she simply followed several other employees to this room.

Looking around, unsure of what to do, Violet slid into an empty cubicle close to the door, in case she had to dash out to get where she was supposed to be if this wasn't it. She didn't want to screw up on her very first day.

She pulled out her paperwork and began the long process of filling it out. She took note of the others in the room- it was so quiet in here! Didn't anyone talk? Or was that not allowed in this room? Hating silences that last too long, she cleared her throat and gave it a shot.

"Hi everyone, I'm Violet. Does anyone know if all first-time employees come here to fill out their paperwork? I want to make sure I'm in the right place." She hoped someone would be friendly enough to answer her.

Just then a meek looking woman darted in and sat down. She appeared to be filling out some sort of paper work, probably for the permanent records. And almost as suddenly as she darted in the woman spoke. My Merlin, what was she straight out of Hogwarts?!

Medea’s right brow rose dangerously close to disappearing into her hairline. She then turned back to Mr. Greingoth, surely he, being the Senior Undersecretary, he’d be able to answer the young woman’s line of questioning.

"Ahh, Mr. Andrei," Alexander said, glancing up just in time to see a second employee make their way into the room. He gave the man a polite nod as a greeting. He remembered this one's face, for sure, and he'd even made a mental note to ask the man to report directly to his office upon arrival. "A word with you in my office, please?"

"Miss Ward," Alexander said, obviously pleased to hear how well-organized this woman was. He paused for a moment to take in the general demeanor of this Ward woman. She was serious--he could already tell--and displayed a no-nonsense attitude. Ahh, yes. He and Miss Ward would get along just fine. He even allowed a small smirk to play across his lips as he said, "Actually, yes. I do have something I'll need you to take care of at some point in the next few weeks." He nodded toward the Andrei man. "I need to meet with Mr. Andrei right now, but I'll be in touch."

Looking across the room, Alexander saw that the Downing woman had made her way into the general work area. Turning to face her, he said, "The paperwork can be filled out anywhere you'd like; so yes, here is just fine." His eyes narrowed in thought as something occurred to him, and then he stepped a bit closer to the woman. "Miss Downing, you were hired as a receptionist, yes?"

Warren skimmed over the rest of the sports after seeing a quick paragraph about his sons scores. It was too bad he'd he'd missed another of his son's games. But work put bread on the table, quidditch didn't... Unless you were playing.

Before he put the news paper down, a voice came from over top of it. Warren folded the paper and set it on the desk, as he looked up at the person. And struggled to get up for the man, for a more polite greeting. It seemed that sitting once again made his body decide to quit functioning, which made it even harder, at his age, to start it up again.

Warren finally straightened up, "Miller." he said quickly. "Warren Miller, payroll coordinator. It's nice to meet you, sir" he said and shook the mans hand.

Undersecretary? Was that not the position Lord Borr was about to take, before he became minister.

"Is there anything you need, sir? Before I begin filling some paperwork." Warren asked. Better to ask first, before getting to the paperwork that could wait a little longer.

Medea watched as Mr. Senior Undersecretary seemingly scolded the two men. *inward smirk* Yes, yes. Show them who is boss. The dark haired woman loved for people to exert their power. Powerful men certainly got her knickers in a twist. She was impressed with Mr. Greingoth.

Wait, shouldn’t she be thinking of Noah… or maybe Mason?! Ugh. She didn’t know these days. Never the less, ”Yes sir, I’m available when you need me.” She nodded and returned to her desk as she watched the events unfold.

Oh this was rich. This woman had no clue. No clue at all.

Medea sat at her desk and looked on with great pleasure as the rude non-polite man was requested into the 'principal's office'. Oh yes. You're in trouble. She inwardly hoped he was one of the people she was to supervise, that way she could repremand him.

Bagel Bites Perpetually kept by Erin

Declan headed straight to his work area upon arriving at the Atrium. He didn't look around the ministry even just for a bit for fear he might come late. With him being a long-legged man, with quick paces at that, he had reached Level 1 quickly. Entering the work area, Declan couldn't help but give his clothing a sweeping look just to see if there was any loose threads, ink blots or any thing. Again, appearance adds to character. It helps people make their own impression of him. He didn't want to be called scruffy.

The man looked across the room in earnest, looking for his long-time friend, Rye. At times like this, when you're new to a country, new to a job, shouldn't buddies stick together? So where was Rye? Ah. Troublesome as always, no? Declan walked around, looking for the cubicle with his name on it or his position, giving his workmates a slight curtsy as he walked passed them.

you live your life just once, so don't forget about a thing called love.

Ryuu had decided to finally stop looking like an idiot trying to figure out where to go and simply stare at the man, but appearing as if there was general interest in who exactly he was. Of course, it was, really, to offset the potential creeperness of the staring. Ryuu had figured out that this man had to be big, power wise, (Ryuu did seem to have a couple inches in height on the man) in order for him to know names. Or, perhaps Ryuu was just popular.

Yeaaaaaaah, let's go with that.

Out of the corner of his eye, Ryuu spotted something interesting. Interesting enough that it warranted a smirk and a "Declan!" As his bud strolled past, Ryuu pulled Declan into a headlock and, forgetting that he was thirty-one years old, gave him a noogie. A small one. But enough to mess up that pretty neat hair. And rough up the robes a little. Heh.

"Look at you, Mr. Media Liaison," he grinned, letting Declan go.

Violet looked up from furiously scribbling her information on her paperwork as a nice-looking, well-dressed man entered and offered a slight curtsy to her.
Ah, a friendly face! She'd been looking for one since she'd arrived 20 minutes ago.

She smiled at him in appreciation and murmured a soft, "Hello" to him. He looked like he knew his way around here. Nice to know, since she hadn't a clue as of yet.

Ah, finally, he found his desk. There, near the door of what must be the conference room. It didn't seem that big but it was satisfying enough. He continued walking with his long, quick strides but was surprisingly intercepted by... Rye?

"Holy co... Rye."
The man pulled the unsuspecting Declan into a headlock and Merlin knows how a headlock could ruin one's perfectly neat hair such as his hair and one's nicely tailored robes such as his robes. And then a noogie. "Thanks. You just tousled my hair into pure perfection." Declan frowned in contrary of what he told Rye but a small smile was apparent on his lips at the sight of his loooong-time buddy.

"Here I was thinking you'd arrive late... fashionably late, of course." Declan remarked, ignoring his friend's mention of his position.

Did someone just say hello to him? He looked back, recognizing the woman from one of the folks he'd addressed with a slight cursty. "Hello, Declan Wynter."

Violet supressed a giggle as the nice man's...friend?... put him in a headlock and did quite a number on his hair. Aww, he looked nice with tousled hair too! Though he didn't seem to appreciate it. Well, maybe a little.

His rolling Irish accent was just apparent as he spoke his name. Oh, his voice is lovely- the Irish have such a lilt to their speech.. She'd written an Irish tune for the cafe where she played guitar and sang. If he sings he'd sound amazing! Maybe he can at least give me pointers on the diction.
She stood and put out her hand. She needed to know people! She wasn't just going to sit here like a churchmouse and wait for the world to come to her.

"Hi Declan, I'm Violet Downing", she replied with a shake of her hand. "I'm the new receptionist for the Minister's Office. This is my first day." Her long, dark ponytail bobbed up and down as she shook his hand, and she brushed it behind her shoulder as it popped over. "So what's your position here?"

He obviously had been here before, since he knew that other chap. Unless they were old friends both starting on the same day.

Ryuu gave Declan a hearty clap on the back. "Not a problem what so ever, my friend. I'm there for you, just like I always have been." Since school, in fact, and it was good to see that Declan's sense of humour hadn't changed a bit.

If it had, then Ryuu would have had to stage an intervention.

"Me? Fashionably late?" He grinned and slipped his hands into his pants pockets, trying to give off an air of innocence. "I do believe that you have me confused for some other poor lad. I was only fashionably late, as you put it, to about 98% of the classes. That doesn't automatically mean that I will always arrive late."

Logic for the win.

He said in his thick yet understandable enough Irish accent. That was quite true. He knew his way around Level 1 since he'd been here before... when he submitted his application and all. That should explains it, no?

"I'm a... the Media Liaison."
Declan humbly replied. "I got to make the ministry looks good as I've been told." He softly chuckled at his own remark, flashing his pearly white teeth. Honestly, though, being the Media Liaison was way more than that.

"Sweet, Rye."
He smiled. It was sort of a sly smile. He just thought that Rye sounded a little corny, just like how he'd always been.

"Alright, mate, you win.
" Heh. It had always been like that; Declan would comment on something, Rye would argue, Declan would argue back, Rye would come up with something a logical and witty remark, and finally, Rye would win Declan determines just for the sake of putting a stop into their unnecessary, but nonetheless somewhat heartwarming, arguing.

He looked at his friend then back to Miss Downing. "Miss Downing, this is Ryuu, call him klutz if you will." Now the other way... "Rye, this is Miss Downing." Declan was never the one with the humor but spending time with his buddies, Rye for instance, had somehow influenced him not to be always that business-minded and uptight. A little fun wouldn't hurt, would it?

First impressions are so important.
As Alexander peered down at the young woman, he suddenly thought of his own daughters--Anna, who was about the Downing woman's age; and Sierra, a mere twelve-year-old. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he willed himself to have a patience that even he sometimes realized he needed to work on.

"You're just fine where you are, Miss Downing," he said. "I was only asking because it occurred to me that as of right now, you are our only office receptionist, meaning you'll be the one the others will actually turn their paperwork in to." With patience, he nodded his head in the direction of the front desks. "When you're done here, you can choose whichever free desk you'd like in the front desk area."

"Uhm...okay." Ryuu looked around the room...now, where was this office? Actually, who was this GUY?
Turning around, Alexander raised an eyebrow toward the Andrei man. Hmm, another one to watch, just like MacDean, yes? Yes, he indeed decided. He regarded the man with one simple nod before turning away.

Alexander's eyes widened in surprise. Did he need to help the old man to his feet? Just as he'd decided that yes, he did indeed need some degree of assistance, the man rose to his feet all on his own. Miller, as he'd introduced himself, seemed polite, and so Alexander composed himself and extended his own hand for a shake.

The man had put down the paper, it seemed, and so Alexander decided not to create trouble if it had already died down on its own. "Mr. Miller," he said, completing the handshake. "It's good to meet you." Shaking his head in reply, he added, "No, not right now, but when you're done here, the desk of your choosing is right up front in the front desks area."

Wait, shouldn’t she be thinking of Noah… or maybe Mason?! Ugh. She didn’t know these days. Never the less, ”Yes sir, I’m available when you need me.” She nodded and returned to her desk as she watched the events unfold.
As he turned to walk out the general work area, Alexander paused near the desk of the Ward woman. He was quite impressed with her no-nonsense attitude and strong work ethics. He gave her a brief smile as he said, "Very well, Miss Ward."

...

"Andrei!" he called out, as he exited the work area.

Ryuu chuckled and gave Declan another gentle pat at the back before wrapping his arm around the man's neck again, in brotherly fashion and not a headlock.

"Hey hey hey, now," Ryuu interjected when Declan introduced him to the woman. "Easy there, tiger. It's Mr. Klutz, to you." He grinned at the woman now known to him as Miss Downing. "Mr. Good Looking Klutz for those who are feeling generous." Which he doubted anyone was.

Oops! Right.

"Keep your hair in, I'm coming," Ryuu mumbled, finally letting Declan go. "Sorry, mate. I'm being hailed. Miss Downing, such a pleasure to meet you." He bowed his head respectively towards her. "We shall continue this after discussion after my impromptu meeting with the apparent 'big cheese'. Excuse me."

With that, Ryuu followed after the man, returning back to wondering what the heck was wrong.

As Violet listened to the gentleman, she found herself thinking about how much this man reminded her of her father. A little stern, very business-like, but still warm and friendly and ready to help. It put her at ease.

"Yes sir, I'll head there straight away. Thank you," she replied with a grateful smile.

He has a beautiful smile, she thought as they shook hands. She offered her own warm smile in return. "Technically? Have you worked here before? I noticed you knew that man over there who...gave you a new hair style." she smirked playfully. Unable to resist, she reached up and smoothed one lock of his hair that was sticking straight up like a cowlick. She always did stuff like that- told strangers their shoes were untied, wiped chocolate smudges from the faces of random children, things like that. "There, that's better. That piece looked like it was about to fly off your head!" she laughed.

He has nice cologne too. Have to ask him sometime what it is. "Media Liaison? That sounds like an exciting job. A million press releases, going to important events, that sort of thing. We'll see your name in the Daily Prophet a lot, then."

"I'm the new Receptionist for the Minister's Office. This is my first job- I only graduated in the Spring from Hogwarts. Did you go there, or to a school in Ireland? I have to say that your accent is beautiful,"
she smiled.

Candy reached Level 1, her black eyes scanning the work area with eagerness and curiosity. She straightened out her dress, which had wrinkled slightly as she had made her way through the Ministry. Candy was extremely interested in meeting some new people that she could mingle with, sure she was here to work but working all day was just extremely tiresome. She ran a hand through her black hair and bit her bottom lip, looking for a cubicle where she could sit and think for a minute.

Warren simply nodded as the man. Front Desk Area. He must have passed it without notice. "Thank you." he said and gathered his things. It was better to move out there to finish. That way he wouldn't have to try and get up again after he'd finished.

Putting the news paper into the briefcase, Warren took his coat and briefcase, and moved towards the doors back out to the front desks where he'd need to find another desk. Hopefully there wouldn't bee too much walking involved or he'd have to get out his cane. Not the ideal position he wanted to be in.
