Her dancing made for a great realisation asset? Well if that wasn't a compliment, then she didn't know what was. Smirking slighly, Emily made a small gesture of bowing her head. "So thrilled I could be of service," she mused with a silvery chuckle.
Emily agreed, again, they seemed to be doing a great deal of that. "I know exactly what you mean, it's similar in the field. You get too caught up on what you could expect or should expect, imagine the worst case scenario, try to make too much of the challenges you're presented with... only to find it's not always as complicated as it first seems. Sometimes, the answers, are those we've dismissed as being too easy and therefore not likely possibilities."
They seemed to have transitioned into the next song easily, adjusting their rhythm and timing to the slower tempo. Dancing, from memory, usually felt like work. There were impressions to make, social etiquette to practice, and the company was generally stiff and at the least, was little to be desired. Dancing with Vic though, was pleasant. Cheeky? Hardly. "You walked right into that one," she justified.
Vic's single laugh amused her. He required a definition of intimidating? ... how very curious. "Intimidating, to overawe, to evoke feelings of being inhibited..." were the standard definitions that she offered, but offered a clarifying point, "seeing as I'm your scary boss lady now." She used the terms he'd used earlier, they were actually starting to grow on her. Scary boss lady, Sir, had a nice ring to it.
Vic slowed down with the music, the wheels in his head didn't though. And instead of grinning he gave a quick small smile when she bowed her head. It was a gesture that revealed just a tiny bit of something he hadn't seen before. His small smile was gone as she went on with how things were for her side of the job, he was thoughtful, "It's brilliant, really. Do you think Ravenclaws have a bad case of this blind-to-the-simple-truth than the others?" This was a joke, of course. Well, only partially.
He chuckled again, but this time it was a bit low, the music somehow forced him to be quieter. "Touche."
His attention was focused on her question and definition of being intimidating which turned out to be the default definition, really. He smiled a little and was a little closer so that he could talk without any of the other twirling couples could hear them, just in case he put his foot in his mouth with his answer. "Well. I don't think being intimidating is an absolute state, if you're asking whether I have certain inhibitions when I hang out with you, then of course yes. You're sometimes hard to read, and I figured that you're not a typical Ravenclaw girl. I tread lightly." A grin made its way to his face at this. "If you mean whether or not I'm scared of taking risks and push the scary boss lady's buttons sometimes, harmlessly..." PAUSE.
PAUSE...
Pause. "... then no."It was something a Gryffindor would say or do. Looking at their family tree, Vic knew he got taking risk as a family inheritance. Not very shiny. "Not because you're not intimidating, but because scary implies unfair too, and you don't hit me as an unfair person." To a prosecutor, being unfair was most terrifying and horrible of all.

I know you have to go back and stand for all those people later." And he knew from his sister how heeled shoes treated a lady's feet. Though if she was asking for his personal desire, he'd be up for some fresh air himself.

Emily complied, linking her arm through Vic's once more. The formality of their gestures amused her, but considering the event, it was appropriate and she wouldn't have it any other way.
FOOD.
"Of course, that sounds like a plan to me." As if she would ever object to sitting and stuffing her face full of free food. Psssshhh. "People can wait, my stomach comes first." Her justification for this was if she was standing around hungry, with stomach squelching noises, then there was the potential of giving her colleagues and employees the wrong impression... stomachs often sounded like wind passing, did they not? At any rate, she didn't want to risk that, nor did she wan't to risk fainting in front of hundreds. And so it was to the buffet they went.

Creatures? Blegh. João hoped she would do her best to keep those away from him. Truly, WHO would love those? He really wondered whether some of them dealt with them to save others from the effort.
He didn't share his ideas with her, though. Wouldn't be too pleasant to talk so only after 10 minutes of meeting.
"I'm..." He hadn't shared his position with anyone yet. Chelsea didn't deserve to be the first. "...in Minister's Office." Pause. "So you like creatures?" Just checking, y'know.
"Oh, that sounds fun." Ish.. fun-ish. Chelsea wasn't exactly sure what one did in the Minster's office, aside from being a secretary, or doing desk work.. that sort of thing. She couldn't imagine doing that, personally, but to each their own, yes?
She nodded, when he asked about her liking creatures. "Of course," Chelsea answered, "Most of them. Not so much the multiple-legged, hairy ones." But other than that.. yes.

He smiled too and stood up when she did, mostly out of respect. Oh! She wanted to dance! William's face instantly started turning red but he took her hand, of course. "I'm a really awful, terrible dancer, but yes, I do want to dance with you." She was risking her toes though, seriously, did she know that?
It seemed that William had no answer for her either. Hmm. Oh well, maybe she WOULD actually talk to Oliver at some point. Though she doubted she'd lead with that question. It made her sound desperate for attention and this was so NOT why she wanted to know. Maybe there was no reason either. Who knew. It wasn't really that important either.
Her eyes briefly wandered off when she noticed the man in question coming over to the seating are as well with January but went back to William when he took her hand. Her lips curled into a slightly amused smile when he said that he didn't know how to dance. "I'm sure we'll manage." This wasn't really about the dancing per se after all.
So, off to the dance floor then...
Without letting go of his hand, Alysson led the way to the ballroom. Once there she stopped moving to take in the magnificent room. She even put her head back to look at the ceiling. "Look, it's snowing." See, let's talk about the nice things.

When she released his hand to smack him, he hastily took a step closer to her and casually slid his free hand around her waist. There, that was better. They were standing closer than ever now, and Alysson was probably in more of a danger zone thanks to HIS feet, but okay. Whups. Whew. Whatever.
He looked up from his repositioning to grin at her. "I make you nervous." William chuckled again and looked off to the side, then back at her. "Why?"

"I think I'm doing this wrong," Willy muttered under his breath for the umpteenth time. His hands were starting to sweat now, could she tell? And speaking of hands... wasn't one of his supposed to be on her waist?! Crap.
When she released his hand to smack him, he hastily took a step closer to her and casually slid his free hand around her waist. There, that was better. They were standing closer than ever now, and Alysson was probably in more of a danger zone thanks to HIS feet, but okay. Whups. Whew. Whatever.
He looked up from his repositioning to grin at her. "I make you nervous." William chuckled again and looked off to the side, then back at her. "Why?"
There you go. Though she was slightly surprised by his suddenly moving closer to her and repositioning his hand, Alysson smiled. Her now free hand found a place on his shoulder and she took anothere small step closer to make sure they were in the right dancing position. Now, that felt a lot more like dancing.
Also she didn't exactly mind their proximity either.
He wasn't supposed to laugh at her. This wasn't fair. It was making her giggle even more now. Alysson was tempted to just say I don't know and hope he would drop the subject. But then again, they were both mature (?????) adults (?????) so talking was probably a good idea.
"I just don't know what to think sometimes..." Which wasn't a very good answer and it didn't get any better by her averting her gaze again.

Now they were both laughing. Great. The people around them probably thought they were two thirteen-year-olds who had been tampering with an aging potion or something. Not that Alysson minded if they did. She was far too focused on William to really think about what the others were doing.
She took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself, seeing as they were in fact having a conversation now. An awkward one too. Like William had just pointed out earlier. Though, it was a different kind of awkward now. Alysson wasn't even sure if it was awkward at all. Or why.
Actually, they were just having a normal conversation, right?
Her eyes went back to his when he had a follow-up question to her comment. "No about the man over there." She used her hand to gesture at a random person to their left before placing it back on his shoulder again. "Of course you." She shook her head slightly, smile still in place but paired off with a confused raise of her eyebrows. What kind of question was that?

Beautiful. Alysson smiled softly and even averted her gaze down again, to their feet. Which were moving quite well actually right now. So, William was just one of these people you had to distract. Good to know.
When he went on to say what else he liked about her, she could actually feel the color in her cheeks rising slightly. "You know-" She finally looked back up at him again. "-right now it feels like the past two years didn't even happen." As in they were back where they'd left off. Though she wasn't sure if that was actually true. Or what it meant.
"Thank you, by the way." She smiled and moved a little closer so she could kiss his cheek. But then he suddenly wasn't looking at her anymore and talking about how he always ruined things. At this Alysson stopped their dancing by standing still. "Hey." She even moved her hand from his shoulder to his jawline in an attempt to make him look back at her. "How about we just won't let that happen?" Sound good, yes?
