If you thought the entrance hall was nice, wait until you see the ballroom! Beautiful black and white decor are everywhere, and the enchanted ceiling resembles the Great Hall at Hogwarts - tonight, it's snowing on all the employees as they enjoy themselves below. The checkered ballroom floor shines so much you think you might be able to see your reflection in it! In the west corner of the room there is a small orchestra of enchanted instruments playing away. If you've ever wanted to waltz with your coworkers, here's your chance!

This area is just for conversing and dancing. There are separate areas of the ballroom designated for meet and greets, dining, and taking pictures to commemorate the event.

Victoria was feeling super self conscious in her outfit. Putting a hand over her belly she looked around at all the amazing outfits and how nice everyone was looking. Not that she wasn't proud of her little ones, but she just felt off in a nice dress at the moment. She walked through the orientation looking around with a hand in Charely's. If nothing else this was a nice way for them to get out and have some fun. It was nice of the ministry to make this event so formal and elegant.

Making her way to the ballroom she looked around. No one was dancing, but to her that didn't matter. She turned to face Charely smiling, "Care to dance?" In the year they had been together had they ever been dancing? She didn't think so at least, so this was a great opportunity and one she wasn't going to pass up. She promised she wouldn't over do it. She wasn't going to be put on bed rest again anytime soon.

Making her way into the ballroom, GinaMarie's heart pounded against her chest quickly. The entire room was beautiful built and decorated. The music was just topping on the cake. As she looked around the room she felt the urge to dance, but was reminded that she didn't have a date this evening. I should have brought Harold. She thought to herself. Her little brother was a great dancing partner to have, especially at events like these, but she knew he often got bored when she was forced to talk with people she worked with.

She could hear it now. "I'm sorry I'm being so negative, GM. I just don't know what to do." Harold would sigh, say sorry again and walk off to find food or perhaps go on a walk outside as he waited for GinaMarie to finish her socializing duties.

For now, GinaMarie slowly walked around the perimeter of the room as she watched more people begin to arrive. The woman was keeping a special eye out for the man with the child, surely they'd be great to watch if they hit the dance floor.

Charely was in his usual calm state. Things had been going smoothly with work and everything else outside of it. He kept his smile all the way through the orientation, with Vic at his side. His hands interlocked with hers, they made their way through the other areas. His eyes went through the many decorations. The Ministry had really outdone themselves with this year's look, as the two made their way into the Ballroom area. Why, the ceiling looked just like his old school's Great Hall. It was just short of stunning to Charely, next to Victoria of course. She was simply glowing under the light of everything.

Would he care to dance? He looked at her in amusement, "I'd love to." It had been one year of many magical moments together. Taking her already enclosed hands he brought them and her closer as they started swaying close together on the dance floor. They definitely didn't have many dances shared together like this. "Just let me know if you get too tired." There had been enough risky moments for the both to know caution couldn't be taken lightly. "Eventually we'll have to have baby sitters if we want to have another night like this again." Since his Wade can barely handle Luc and Bart alone before he has to graduate. Hmm. "So how are you feeling?" He asked after a few moments.

Victoria couldn't help but smile as he took her hands around him. She was glad he wanted to dance it was nice. As they began dancing to the music she smiled at him. "It's always nice to be almost as tall as you once in awhile." Leaned in she gave him a soft kiss, her heels making it easier to reach him without needing to lean up to far. She glanced around and chuckled, "Looks like we are the only ones wanting to dance so far." She had noticed others around, but they seemed to be the only dancing. "Guess eyes will be on us or shall I say you, seeing how amazing you look." She was in aw over his appearance, but she typically always was.

Giving him a heartwarming smile she nodded, "Yes, I'll tell you if I get too tired, but I'm fine for now. It's nice to be out and having a good time." So far she was having a wonderful time. "I wonder if Mariel will be here." She hoped her friend would at least make an appearance. She hadn't spoken to her in a little while and wanted to know how her Holiday went. A chuckled left her at his words, "Yes we will, feels weird thinking about babysitters again, but my parents will most likely jump at the babysitting job. They have always given me the guilt trip for having Bart so far away when he was younger. So I know they will be around at every moment for these two." She took one hand down to her little bump.

She looked at him in aw for a moment when he asked her how she was feeling. Always concerned and trying to take care of her. He had been supportive with the way her son had acted and with everything else going on. "I feel great actually. Things seem to have turned around and I hope they stay that way until summer." No more complications would be nice.

"Wait, wait, Mrs. Kapoor." He said freezing as he came to the large and opulent dance space. "Please?" He added. "I want to...take this all in." He explained with a shy smile towards the elder witch who smiled in return, though with decidedly more confidence.

"Alright. Take your time, Jasper. No one is in a rush at a party. Except you." She joshed stopping with him and holding out her painted palm to catch a snowflake or two. "Don't be afraid. You can do this." She said as if reading his thoughts, though she had said it quite as often as she thought he needed hearing it. Too often and too randomly for mind penetration to have occured, despite her abilities.

Jasper held his arms out, left higher than the right in an almost questioning manner. "Mrs. Kapoor, would you care to dance?"

Still wearing her large grin, and feeling quite proud of her former pupil, Mrs. Nandita Kapoor held her hands up towards his and made every effort not to step on his toes throughout the dance.

So being back in the city had stirred up her nerves more than she had cared to admit. She was determined to make this work though. Settling down for a bit and getting a solid job would be a good thing. She had gotten a job at the Department of Mysteries as an Unspeakable and things were looking up. This orientation ball was going to be chance for her to break out of her usual shell and mingle.

Syd rounded the corner into the ballroom and came to a halt. Her amber eyes took in the opulent decor and she smiled. The place was gorgeous! She smiled as she slow started into the room still taking it all in. Thankfully this meant she wasn't a bit overdressed.

Jasper hadn't had a drink all night. Not one sip of champagne. Why then was his mind telling him, as if intoxicated or working off the effects of some euphoria-inducing potion, that he'd seen that familiar face before? An amber-eyed face filled with kindness and sympathy that he'd left for figurative dead more than a decade ago.

It couldn't have been her. Not the Syndil Rivers whose touch he'd idiotically decided to starve himself of for want of being good enough for her. A never fulfilled want. And had he hurt her in doing so? Did she miss him? Remember him? Was he anything but that dolt who doesn't know how to return an owl? A coward. He slowly stopped the momentum of his dance with Mrs. Kapoor and asked to be alone. A request Kapoor complied to wishing to see her former pupil do on his own. And for what seemed far more than a minute, Jasper stood there on the ballroom floor paralyzed by the sight of Syndil Rivers.

Finally the splendor of the place sunk in enough for her to be able to look around at other things. As a waiter passed she grabbed a glass of wine and took a sip. With as many people as there were here she could feel a whole lot more then usual. As she slowly walked through the room Syd nodded and said hello to a few people while letting the rest flow over her. And yet there was something there that gave her pause.

Someone felt familiar here. She knew Gid and Becca would be here but it it wasn't them. As much time as she had spent with the couple she would know their signature anywhere. This was different. Following her instincts Syd made her way around a couple groups of people, dodged a harried looking waiter......and came face to face with....

Jasper.

SlytherinSistah 10-27-2013 07:35 AM

Jasper realized he wasn't breathing when he finally exhaled. His eyes taking a long, slow blink to readjust to what he was seeing. His brow furrowed giving him a very perplexed or possibly offended look. But the eyes beneath the brows and the energy he put off were...scared, perhaps?

"Syndil? Syndil Rivers?" He tried and it did take nearly all of his emotional might to pull back and remain cool-headed. "How are you?" He asked in a gentle manner, burying his shame.

She felt hot and cold all over. Emotions exploded through her and for once they were all hers. The old nerves, anxieties, hurt, and depression came back in one gigantic rush that had her reeling. On the outside her eyes went wide as her brain processed the fact that Jasper Mitterbill was standing in front of her.

Not only was he standing there but he was addressing her. How had she been? Something about that simple sentence set her off. Rage and sadness gripped her mind until her next reaction was completely emotional in nature. Syd grabbed a glass of champagne....

And threw it in his face.

He felt, as he considered the fact that he knew damned well Mercury was in retrograde when he had gotten out of bed and agreed to come to this thing, that he had probably deserved that. Jasper had time to shut his eyes but not dodge the bubbly flung into his face by Syndil's emotionally charged hand. He did notice, though that she also seemed to have wine and he remembered to be grateful that she hadn't decided to toss that at him. This was NOT his suit.

His face quickly extinguished an expression, not of anger or pure anything, but rather an amalgam of embarrassment and what was probably hurt. "Right then." He sniffed, beginning to wipe his face with his hands. "If you'll excuse me a moment." He turned to exit the ballroom wishing to die be alone.

Shd would probably regret her rash actions later. Like sometime next year. For the moment however, all she felt was regret that there was not more liquid in the glass. She hadn't failed to see his expression as he excused himself and bis emltional signature was quite clead enough but fod the moment she couldn't bring herself to care.

Once he was safely out of distance she downed her glass of wine and grabbed another which quickly joined the contents of the former. Taking a few slow breaths to calm her turbulent emotions Syndil slowly walked to an isolated corner and sat down. How could this have happened? Why had the fates been so cruel as to send him or all people back into her life? And why now? The questions chased one another around her mind but no answers were forthcoming.

She stood in that corner for quite some time trying to figure out her next move. Should she ignore him completely? Or take the higher road? She wasn't sure yet though some part of her mind noed that she had flung the clear liquid at him and not her red wine which would have been more detrimental. Not that a simple charm wouldnt have been able to clear it up but still.

After Jory had invited her to dance, Ronnie made her way with him into the ballroom in a flash. She gasped a little at the room once they were inside. It was just as stunning as the entrance hall! She then watched as a few couplues were dancing in the middle of the floor, looking very happy. Her heart fluttered at the thought of dancing with Jory. Smiling brightly, she turned towards him and smiled shyly. "You ready to dance?" she asked, offering her hand towards him.

SlytherinSistah 10-28-2013 12:12 AM

Mrs. Kapoor had been watching as Jasper approached a nice-looking young lady. 'Well, there you, Jasper. Asking her to dance.' It pleased the 70-something year old witch to see her friend getting on with his life and she was glad that he'd been convinced to come to the Min...Oh!

Mrs. Kapoor's smiled dropped when she witnessed the flying champagne, and then even more so when she witnessed him leaving. 'Typical Jasper. Always fleeing.' She was going to give him a few minutes. A few minutes to cope the way he would and hopefully it would not be in a detrimental or self-destructive manner. For now, she had live, beautiful music to listen to and enjoyed watching the looks of pleasant surprise upon the faces of the witches who entered.

Claire walked into the ballroom and looked around. She didn't know anyone and was new to the country so she grabbed a glass of champagne and began walking around the room to look at everything.

As he took Ronnie's hand and led her to the dance floor, Jory could see that she was impressed with the ballroom's decoration. He placed his hands on her waist and smiled at her. "It's not the decorations that makes this place beautiful, you know,'' he told her. "It's you.'' Yep. Because she was the most beautiful woman there.

As they began to move to the music, Jory was taken back to the first dance he and Ronnie had shared. It was a fundraiser for Hogwarts, he believed. "Remember our first dance?'' he asked. Stupid question. Of course she did.

She felt her heart skip a beat as he placed his hands on her waist. Smiling and pulling him closer, she blushed deeply at what he said. "That's so sweet, Jory. Thank you." she said. Merlin, she thought she was done with the blushing thing! *sigh* Guess not. Oh, well. She didn't quite care. All that mattered now was Jory. Her and Jory. Dancing together, just like they had not long ago. She leaned into him and began swaying to the music.

Laughing softly when he mentioned their first dance, she nodded. "Of course I remember, sweetheart," she told him, giggling and kissing his nose. "How could I ever forget?" she smiled at him, looking into his eyes as her mind went back to that night at the fundraiser.

Jory had been waiting for the moment Ronnie blushed. he just knew she would. He grinned a bit more. The blushing went along quite well with her hair and outfit. He could hardly take his eyes off of her. She looked so pretty.

"And I was so nervous about stepping on your feet, being a horrible dancer and probably everything else,'' he said as they moved to the music. How sill he had been back then! This dance was different from then. Now, he was not nervous one bit and he actually felt more confident. "So, Rons,'' Jory continues, resorting to his nickname for her. "Are you all set for the Meet and Greet?'' Because soon they would have to go meet their Heads of Department.

Ronnie laughed. It was so cute how nervous poor Jory had been. She of course had felt a bit bad, but it was really kinda cute too in a way. "Well," she said, giving him a quick kiss. "I think you're an amazing dancer." It was true. She couldn't think of anyone else better.

She then nodded at his question. "I'm pretty sure I am! I'm a bit nervous... but I think I'm ready." she admitted with a slow nod. She couldn't help but feel a teensy bit nervous, y'know. Ronnie was all about making very good first impressions. And she also just still couldn't believe she actually had a job now. At the ministry! Who would of known she'd get to her official job so quickly. "What about you?" she asked as they danced to the music.

Escorting Becca with him to the dance floor, his hand in hers. Just one dance, and he didn't mind it was the highlight of the evening being able to dance with his wife! It didn't matter that either of them were all that fantastic at dancing, just a slow sweet dance was enough for him.

Trying not to shake her head or roll her eyes at how ridiculous dancing was, she followed him to the floor and once they were there, she raised an eyebrow at him. Okay, so this was going to be... fun.

As a slow song started up, he moved close and put his arm around her as his fingers threaded into hers that was already in his hand. "Can't be that bad can it? I promise not to step on your feet."

Resting her hand on his arm and holding onto his other hand, she gazed at him. She was actually closer to his height than normal because of her heels, so she wasn't having to really look up at him. "Hmm... I suppose if you keep your feet off my nice heels, it'll be a successful dance." Yeah, she liked these shoes. They were her most comfortable pair of heels. "I promise not to step on yours either."

It had been awhile since he'd seen her in heels so it as a nice change and their height being so much closer than usual. Gazing down into her eyes his twinkled "Well, I don't want to scuff your heels, so I'll be most careful." Wincing at the thought of getting a spike in his foot, "I'd appreciate that" he said pulling a face. He'd had that happen a few times over the years, though he didn't usually dance for anyone.
