Guidelines for Apparition Testing at the Ministry

When is it ok for my character to test in the Ministry for their license?

There are three times licenses may be issued in the Ministry:
-During the IC "breaks" for Christmas, Easter, etc. (Please note that most of the time, the Minsitry will be closed during the Christmas break IC for sorting!)
-During the IC "summer break" when DA is open/sorting is open
-Any time after a character has graduated Hogwarts

The only characters who may test at the Ministry are characters who are a. 17 years of age or older and b.will NOT be of age/turning of age during the Winter Term (when apparition lessons will be taking place) It's just silly to have those who ARE turning of age during the Apparition term come to the Ministry when they can just, you know, stay at school...

How do I go about testing?
It is very easy to go about testing in the Ministry!

1. Please arrive at the Department of Magical Transportation and please bring your wand. This will be used to identify you and assure you are old enough for testing. No appointment is necessary although there may be a small wait time depending on how many testers having arrived before you.

2. An apparition instructor will arrive and take you to a small "classroom" where you will engage in a 1 hour condensed apparition course. You will immediately take the written portion of the exam. You will be given TWO tries to pass the test. If you fail twice, you will be sent home and cannot come back to try again for at least 30 days*. Once you have passed the written portion, you will be allowed time to practice (up to 2 hours of supervised practice) *In OOC terms, this means you won't be able to retest for a week/you'll get about 48 hours of practice time in the classroom thread to RP your character practicing.

3. You will then be given the practical exam. If you pass, you'll be issued your license!

4. You CAN take the written exam/class and then return home to practice apparition in your own home. HOWEVER, a signed document MUST be obtained and issued by an instructor giving you permission to apparate in your home, and you will be monitored to assure you do not leave the premises without a license. You can then return at a later date and take the practical portion to receive your license (within 30 business days) Plenties for leaving an approved apparition testing area without a license can be anything from a fine to possible time in Azkaban depending on the offense.

5. If you have successfully completed a previous Apparition class at Hogwarts, you only need to take the Practical and Written exams. You do NOT need to take the class again (provided you have sufficient proof and paperwork showing that you did, in fact, complete the apparition course!) OOC: By "sufficient proof" I mean link me to the posts of your character RPing in the Apparition lesson!

6. As of this moment, if you have successfully passed the Apparition exam and received your license, you do NOT need to retest/renew your license at any time. It's good for life! OOC: However, if another character of yours wants to get a license, you will need to retake the test!
