Dumbledore was dead... His portrait was at Hogwarts, but, like linzeroo said, I think they're more of a memory, not really the person. He was gone.. To borrow a quote actually from Dumbledore (in the fourth movie)... "No spell can reawaken the dead, Harry. I trust you know that."

However -- Dumbledore is pretty amazing. So even though he couldn't help in the battle, I'm sure he was watching from somewhere!
