 National Geographic Kids scans and excerpts

If the Quidditch scenes look like magic, they are - movie magic, that is. Cameras filmed the actors in front of a giant blue screen as they sat on broomsticks attached to motorized seats. "For some scenes they attached cables and flipped us upside down," says Tom Felton, who plays Malfoy.
The actors didn't need bad weather to film a rainy Quidditch scene. "Between takes they'd dump a load of water on us," says James Phelps, who plays Fred Weasley. Waterproof wetsuits under their clothes kept their bodies warm and dry.

When Harry pelts Malfoy with snowballs in the wizard village Hogsmeade, he uses "snow" made of an edible coconut mixture similar to cake batter. "It was really slimy and wet," Tom says. "But I pelted Daniel back after the scene."

"Stunt guys stood in for the dog and dragged me along the ground by my leg," says Rupert Grint, who plays Ron.
It's also worth noting that Hugo, who played Hagrid's dog Fang in the first three HP movies, is retiring after Azkaban. "The trainers just spoil him rotten," says head animal trainer Gary Gero. Hugo feasted on treats like McDonald's hamburgers and spaghetti.
