A freshie is someone in their first "year" and a sophomore is someone in their second "year." I'm using quotation marks 'cause we don't really go by years here (not sure if they do in England), but by semesters...

-Flails- But to keep it simple and not confusing, just yeah. The freshmen are just starting, and the sophomores have been attending the school for at least about a year.
