Hogwarts RPG Name: Janet Lynn Gordon Fifth Year | Of Heads or Tails Werecats are people too! Reader of Fan Fictions Some replies, then onto the Chapter.
Harita: Thanks Harita, I'm glad you're reading. Ottery's great though isn't he. It's easy to see why everyone loves him. And Teddy would have been better off if he'd been there. K'Lari did a spectacular bit of super sleuthing (if that isn't a word, it is now) and got them there. If she hadn't had to get Neville out, she could have been a tremendous help. Ottery would have seen to them all getting out safe.
Obi-Wan-K'Lari: K'lari, I'm glad you loved it. Thank you so much. Yeah, I thought the "get well story" title was cute and fitting.
Veggie_Potter: Stef, Yeah, we're all happy Teddy didn't die, and I loved writing, Neville. And I love Dumbledore, he's the greatest.
Tina6080: Tina, so good to have you. Welcome to my story and the little family we have here, and welcome to SS. Hope you enjoy the site here.
Everyone is very nice.
Thanks to all my readers, the ones who post comments, and the ones who don't. Everyone of you are very important to me. Thank you so much for being here and giving me your support. It does make me feel so good, and gives me so much confidence to do this. The next chapter, 15, "Jim's Last Request" will be up next Thursday evening, or Friday sometime.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Joy In a Time of Overwhelming Fear
News of the Longbottoms capture and rescue spread throughout the wizarding world. No one felt safe, and save for going to work, everyone stayed home with protective charms around their homes, and yards. Every household, trembling in fear, turned into a massive community of boiling raging hatred and malice toward Voldemort and his Death Eaters. When Voldemort seen no evidence of capitulation, he quietly made plans to act on some new information just given to him.
It was the evening of Halloween. James and Lily had a fun little party for Harry. They allowed him to ride his little broom Sirius had gotten him for his birthday around the house. Everytime Harry got to a room he would call out, “tick- o- teat,” and hold out his wizard hat. James would pop to that place dressed in a different costume each time, and scare him then give him candy, or such treats, and sometimes a trick, usually a good tickling till Harry nearly fell off of his broom laughing. This went on upstairs and down over the whole house several times. Harry was having such a good time. The routine changed so that when James popped to the place his little man was, Harry would be ready for a very loud, “boo” to his daddy. James would act as if he had just had the worst scare of his life, and Harry just kept laughing. He didn’t care about getting tricks or treats anymore, it was too fun beating daddy at shouting boo! They were all laughing so hard.
Tom ran along with Harry everywhere he went. He was having such a great time. Being part of this family was such a blessing to him, and he was ever so grateful to have the life he had. Finally, when James was too tired to pop another time they decided to let Harry ride for a little while chasing Tom. Lily was skeptical about this last bit for fear of Tom getting hurt. It did happen once. The details were sketchy in her memory, but, she definitely remembered something of Tom laying deathly still, and Harry laying on the floor staring at Tom with a most puzzled look on his face saying, “Tom big kitty man!” She tried and failed to remember anything else, except that Lissydove had come over to help with a bad scratch, and was still bothered about not remembering more.
“Now Honey,” James said soothingly, Tom is having a blast! He loves playing with Harry.”
One of Tom’s most favorite things was teaching Harry special moves. He would let him get just close enough for him to reach him, and then when Harry reached out to grab him, he would dart off in another direction. They did both enjoy that game so much!
Lily and James was watching them, and laughing each time Harry nearly grabbed Tom. Then without taking his eyes off Harry he said, “You know what? He’s actually really good at flying!”
“Oh, well, would you like to know how good he is?” she asked mocking him. “Today we went out to the garden for a bit of fresh air. He asked could he “fly boom mommy?” “I told him he could, but he had to be careful to stay in our yard.” “K, mommy” and he tottered in his effort to run quickly into the house. I started working on my Tulip Bed, and next thing I know that little pill was zipping along on YOUR broom, chasing Tom all over the place. He was quick enough to catch Tom’s tail several times. I was scared out of my mind he would get hurt. You know, your broom doesn’t fly two feet off the ground and at a fast walk. I tried to grab him as he flew past me, but he just flew higher above me laughing at me. I was about to summon him, when Tom ran up the tree and pounced on the front of your broom. Harry wrapped both arms around Tom screaming, “Haywee, win!” When they got low enough his feet touched the ground, he rolled off, still clinging to Tom. “Lookie Mommy, Haywee cats Tom! Haywee win!” as he was clapping his little hands delighted and proud.
“Did he really?” he asked incredulously. “Harry!” James caught him as he was about to fly by. “What a clever boy you are! Are you going to play Quidditch just as your daddy did? You’ll make a terrific seeker. That’s what I,” but he did not get to finish his statement with his little man, for Lily had cleared her throat. Turning to look at her, she was standing with her hands on her hips, tapping a staccato rhythum on the floor.
“I think I need to give Harry his bath now and put him to bed. Before” she paused, “you give him ideas that what he did was ok.”
“Oh, um right.” He looked at Harry and said, “Son, now you mustn’t ever scare mommy like that again. Next time you want to fly on daddy’s broom, let me know so I can watch how good you can fly.”
“James!” Lily said in mock exacirbation.
“Er, no I mean, so daddy can watch to make sure you fly safely, is what I meant to say?” That last bit he said while looking at Lily.
“Honestly!” she said, and took Harry quickly so she could get away before she cracked up laughing in front of James.
Tom seen her heart bubbling with joy, and was happy. Just then however, he thought of his own plight, and was saddened in a way that he was about to die. |
