so you can convince yourself that im cute

Hermione could find nothing at all to sugest what may have caused the necklace to react in the way that it did during potions. Frustrated by this, she wasnt her usual self when it came to lessons. Her parchment was full of unsightly scribbles, her quills were bent and twisted from her constant fiddling with them, and one one particualr, horrible day, she had only recieved 99% on a Charms test.

She had actually cried over this.

So when the next potions lesson came along, she was not feeling her best. She kept a clear distance from Draco the entire time, and never looked up from her cauldron.

Worst of all tho, she had left the necklace abandoned in her dormitory.

She alone was left clearing up at the end of the lesson - Snape's doing, again- and he himself had rushed off to assist in an emergency on the fifth floor corridor. Peeves. 'Nuff said.

She was pileing ingredients into her cauldron when she heard a footstep behing her. She turned. Draco Malfoy had stayed behind. He said nothing at first, and began helping her to clear her things away.

After a moment, he spoke. His voice quiet and soft.

"The necklace.." he began. "Do you know why it -"

Hemrione shook her head before he could finish.

"I couldn't find anything. Not in the library, not anywhere."

Draco went thoughtful for a moment. When he looked up, his eyes were unsure.

"I-I have a theory. I think."

She looked questioningly at him.

"What were you thinking of, the moment the necklace did that thing?" He asked, quietly.

Hermione froze. It was clear that he knew the answer, he must. She had gone red as soon as he had spoken. She looked into his eyes. Cold, grey, yet...trusting.

"You." she said quietly, her face turned towards him but her eyes looking down so as to not see how he reacted to this.

There was a silence. A heavy silence, filled with emotion and tension. Until she felt a warm hand on hers - one that was holding a potions book mid-way between throwing it into the cauldron. She looked up slowly. His eyes were boring into hers.

"W-what were you thinking of?" she asked in almost a whisper. Rejection could come so easily, and she couldnt bare it if he rejected her.

"You." he mouthed.

It took Hemrione a moment to recover from the bound of joy that had taken over her body. When she calmed herself internally, she came to a conclusiion.

"So the necklaces..what, they connected to each other? Because we were thinking of eachother.." The last two words were muttered fairly lamely.

Draco nodded.

"So what now?" Hermione asked in her continued small voice, and it carried through the darkness like a ribbon through the air.

Draco leaned forward.....

The kiss could have lasted a second, or it could have lasted a century. She wasnt sure jsut how long she stood there, but she didn't care. It was pure bliss. Soft, sweet Draco, entwined i her arms. It wasn't anything like the dream she had had about this very moment. Alone in the Dungeon, in everlasting bliss; It was a thousand times better.
