Emiliano smiled wide when Reese said she liked the food. Surprising, she was the first person to ever say that, well...away from Mexico. Most of his friends, just put aside the food and don't even dare to eat the slices of hot pepper.
"Not that bad, eh?" He asked, still smiling.
"Yes, I've talked about you, " He said with a chuckle, then eating piece by piece the scrambled eggs, "..I mentioned that you were actually the first person I ever talked to on the train...maybe I mentioned the little fights you have been involved..." He said, with his playfull smile. "...but so far, they have said they want to meet you and the rest of the crowd I've met..." He told her.
Emiliano nodded his head. He was about to finish the food on his plate, so he just made a little rush. "I miss the food grandma always makes us when we go visit her...it's just a colorful variety..." He commented and made a soft chuckle.
"So, how will you spend this Christmas break?" He asked.
A thud was heard on the back of the kitchen, a little space that was a little bit shorter than the normal ceiling. "Ouch..." Maria complained after hitting herself on the head with a box.
"Ma..." Emiliano shot to the place where his mother was massaging the bump on her head. "Are you alright...?" He asked, worried.
"Yess...Emiliano, " Her clear Spanish accent telling her son's name, "I'm alright..." She said with a smile while she put down the laundry basket and headed towards the fridge to get some ice. She then, noticed a girl there.
She was really pretty and as she noticed her son, being happy and all, sure smiled wide at her. "Hello there...I'm Maria...Emiliano's mother...nice to meet you" She said heading towards Reese and smiling.
The doorbell rang again. Who could it be now? "I'll get that..." Maria said with a smile and walked towards the door with the ice bag on her head. When she opened the door, she noticed another girl. "Hello..." She told her with a smile. "come in and welcome..." She said, supposing the girl was also a friend of her son's.
"Nope,not bad at all.It has a...unique taste,"Reese said with a nod.She took another bite of her eggs. "A very unique taste, indeed." She picked up her glass of orange juice and took a sip.
Reese sat her glass down before she replied, "You told your mom I was involved in an argument?Oh,geez.What did she say about that?" She looked at Emiliano and grinned.
"Grandparents do make the best food,"Reese said.She finished up her eggs and sat her fork down and looked at Emiliano. "You're a very good cooker,you know that?" She smiled.
"Oh,it's been good so far.I've been just sitting at home,relaxing...not doing homework,"Reese said with a shrug. "How has your Christmas break been?" then,Reese heard a slightly thud! What the-? "What was that?"she asked Emiliano. She watched him get up and Reese was just about to follow him until his mom came into the kitchen. "Oh,hello Mrs.Saenz,"she told Maria with a smile. "I'm Reese Northway. It's a pleasure to meet Emiliano's mother."
